It's a vacuum robot, that's all I can say.
I had an older model irobot I belive 900 series bought in 2017. Anyway there's really only a few differences which I'm happy about but a little bummed bc I expected I bigger leap of improvement. 1000% love the self emptying!! And I can not express this enough. My old one did not have this feature and if ran while I wasn't home and the bin got full it wasn't able to finish the whole job. Now this is not a problem. Plus after awhile I just got lazy or forgot to empty the bin so it wouldn't run on its schedule. Now not an issue. This new device is way quieter! It's still noisy but compared to the older model 100% better. I've only done the mop setting once and I wanst particularly impressed with it. I've only done it once due to having a large rug in my living room and the robot just wants to get up on it and I don't have the barriers purchased to keep it off. But I have epoxy concrete floors and I just didn't care for the mop job it did. It says for a wetter mop to wet the pad first but I was just giving it a try out and decided to not wet it first and the wet spots left on the floor were not solid, just like some little lines of wetness. Overall it gets my floors vacuumed for me when I have other things to do so I would say it works well. I have about 1500sf of space it has to get just in the main living and kitchen area. It does need to charge before finishing all of it. It does seem to go over some areas multiple times for no reason and it gets stuck under my coffee table every single time it runs. So I'm not sure if the smart part about it works on this one lol.

Don’t waste your money on this vacuum!
I’ve had this Roomba for almost a year, and I can say without a doubt that I HATE IT! It worked ok for maybe the first month, but I wasn’t amazed by any of the features. We have 2 dogs and 3 indoor/outdoor cats, so we clean pet hair and litter off the floor regularly. This thing has never been able to pick up litter. It does pick up the pet hair ok, and it picks up heavier things (like hair ties) with no problems. The battery life is ok. When we have it set to Clean Everywhere, it takes almost all day because Junior (that’s his name) has to recharge a couple of times. Mapping is awful - it takes a long time to make the map, which wouldn’t be a big deal except that I’ve had to reset the map several times because he somehow keeps forgetting. And even though I have specific rooms scheduled on specific days, he never ends up cleaning a whole room. And lately he just sits in the middle of the family room until he dies. He also decided that the tile floor is just too much to handle, so if he finds the kitchen, he just goes in circles until he dies or until someone picks him up and puts him back on the base. Scheduling is ok; it would actually be great if Junior would do his job. But he can only vacuum on the schedule, not mop. Mopping has to be completed while someone is present because a human has to install the mop bin to start and remove it at the end of the cycle. I have spent more time trying to fix this little guy than he has actually spent cleaning. In fact, repairing it is also an issue because there’s no way to do real repairs; anything major has to be sent back. There’s no access to the inside. I hate that I spent as much $ as I did on this Roomba, especially because I felt that I had researched them all so well. I bought it to replace a robot vacuum that I had purchased for a mere $77 at Walmart, but that one works way better than this stupid Roomba.

Had some speculation but LOVE
I've seen mixed reviews of this product. But I have a husky who leaves fur EVERYWHERE and this thing gets all of it. Even places I forget. I've had it about a week and it's learned to navigate pretty well. I set it to where it goes off whenever I leave the house. I get home to I clear floor. My entire house is hard surface so it's hard to keep clean I was having to sweep daily which took me about 45 minutes and it wouldn't be perfect. This thing takes about an hour and gets every inch. The mop function isn't perfect but it's a huge help. The self empty bin is amazing although I wish it would self empty in mop function. I can walk barefoot I'm the house without getting crab on my feet! I can't even explain how amazing this thing is. I got it as a birthday present to myself and WORTH IT. The app is so easy to use the mapping took about 2 hours and it did it itself. If you're thinking about it just get it. I spent years contemplating and I dont even know how I survived without it now.

The robot worked decently well for a little over a year. Getting it set up to mop was a bit of a pain and it didn't do a great job with it, but the regular vacuum function did a good job of keep our floors clear between regular cleaning. After that year it just stopped working. It would begin a "mission", back off the stand, spin around in place for a bit, then stop and give an error message. We tried all the potential fixes suggested by iRobot's support chat, but nothing seemed to help. Got on a chat with a support person and they walked me through a few more steps to try but we couldn't get it fixed. Despite the warranty being expired the support person was able to offer me a replacement. Even more impressive, the support person said they were out of i5+'s so they offered an upgrade free of charge. This model was fine and it broke down surprisingly quickly, but I'll keep going back to iRobot with customer service like that.

Buckle up, this is going to be a long review, but it's an honest one.
Terrible product! Do not buy the i5 mopvac!! This is a lengthy review, but honest. We have had 2 Roombas in the past and 2 robot vacuums that are not name brands. Honestly, the knock off versions have worked way better than Roomba. I purchased the Roomba i5 mopvac in hopes that it would help cut down on the time it takes us to vacuum and mop. Ever since the first time we ran it, it has had problems. There has not been one time that we've run it where it didn't run into some error (including bizarre errors like detecting that the mop bin is attached when it isn't, not being able to empty the bin without the app, not mapping the house correctly, getting stuck on carpets that our other vac never had a problem with, etc.). I purchased it on Black Friday, so we cannot return it now that it's COMPLETELY BROKEN (error 26 is what it claims, but it has a new filter and the unit is fully clean and empty) after two months of use. I have chatted with their support team, and they offered to send us a new cleaning head unit. She claimed that the directions to replace it would be super easy. My husband can fix practically anything, but he can't get this unit apart. The directions that they sent are for a different model that has screws to take it apart; ours has no screws. The box for the unit sent says it's for the i3/i4. I have messaged the rep twice now about it. The only thing they can do for us is offer to repair it themselves. Only God knows how long it'll take to ship it there, get it repaired, and ship it back. I requested a new unit, but they can't do that. For now, we are stuck with NO VACUUM after paying a premium price for the name brand unit. Very disappointed and frustrated to say the least.

Unreliable in Dark and Limited Mapping
The i5 falls well below expectations for an iRobot product at this price. The i5 Roomba has terrible low-light and night navigation. Even after mapping a room, the i5 cliff sensors and other sensors fail to manage the cleaning effort. The i5 will fall off edges and get stuck under kitchen cabinets. It also attempts to climb chair and table feet and also is hung up. After a couple of sessions, you'll get tired of rescuing Roomba. The i5 acquires and leaves a number of scratches and color transfers. The i5 mapping limits you to one poor-function map. You do NOT get to set avoid, don't vacuum and don't mop areas. This really limits usability. And with only one map, it is time-consuming to relocate temporarily or permanently. And changing the whole dust-bin to mop and then losing auto-emptying is cumberson. I've been a loyal iRobot customer since the earlier series. The i5 falls well below my expectations for iRobot reliability, usability and value. I talked to customer service twice after 2 lengthy waits. They are friendly but very unhelpful. They didn't seem to care and implied iRobot didn't care if the Roomba would be returned. It works as designed. If I want to enhanced capability compared to the i5, I should get a more advanced Roomba. My recommendation? If you have to have a Roomba, spend the extra $50 (at this time) and get the j7+, It has a light so it can see in the dark, a camera and advanced mapping. You won't get the mop attachment, but I found that rather worthless. Otherwise, there are a number of new innovative companies with great deals and excellent approaches to robotic mapping and vacuuming. For example, LIDAR mapping and navigation can be affordable, accurate and functional. Shop arround.

iRobot knows what they are doing
This is my third robot vacuum cleaner. My first was a generic Chinese brand, the second was a Shark with the self emptying feature which was a bonus. But this vacuum mop combo is amazing. It's primarily a vacuum. You can swap bins when you want to mop. Of course, with any robot, you must train it. Once trained properly, you can let it do it's thing autonomously. This is the not the highest end model but it does everything I need it to do. I was especially impressed by the mopping which I was a bit skeptical of at first. When purchasing, you should get all of the additional replacement parts such as the brushes, filters and bags as well. I found that I've always had to replace all of those for all of the brands I've used. I have multiple pets (casts and dots) which, of course, bring their own mess such as pet hair and food crumbs(Milk Bones to be exact). So having a robot vacuum and mop through out the week helps keep the place nice and tidy. Maybe I'll get the Brava which just mops later at some point. I highly recommend this product. I could have saved myself a considerable amount of money but just choosing Rumba to begin with.

Just OK
I’ve had this since November and I can’t say I’m blown away but it’s also not bad enough to buy a new one (I can’t return it). This robot works fine when it will fully return to the base station and charge in it, which is like 70% of the time. It will return to its base station but not fully seat for charging all the time, but I won’t know that until I go to run it again and the app says it’s having an error connecting. And it looks fully parked at the base station, so if I just push it forward a tiny bit or press down on the vacuum, it connects. Then it takes a few minutes to wake up, just to tell me the battery is too low to run. The other problem I have is with it not fully emptying the bin. Sometimes I’ll notice it running but not sucking anything up. So I manually empty the bin I the trash (usually it’s full and there’s fur in the rolling brushes on the bottom, too). I have to do that once or twice a week. Maybe it’s just not strong enough for a multi-pet household. I will say that the mapping technology is the best of the robot vacuums I’ve had and I’ve been using them for about 10 years. You just have to tell it which specific rooms to vacuum versus “vacuum everywhere” because about half the time the “vacuum everywhere” function just cleans the room it is based in.
