Overall, I'm very happy with the iRobot Roomba 104. It has become an important part of my weekly cleaning routine, acting as the perfect in between cleaner to maintain the house between our monthly professional, deep cleans. For our household, it is worth the money. Vacuuming and Mopping performance. The Roomba 104 performs well on our hardwood floors. For vacuuming, it easily handles the day-to-day crumbs from a busy kitchen - we both cook a lot and I'm messy. I was also impressed with its ability to pick up long hair without issue. A helpful tip, I found it cleans more effectively under the dining room table if I pull the chairs out and place them on the table. As for the mopping feature, it also did a great job on our hardwoods, leaving them looking clean. It's an excellent for a light, maintenance level mop. I haven't yet tested it on any significant spills, but for a general weekly clean, it does the job. The only significant frustration has been with Cleaning under our bed. Despite efforts to tuck power cords against the wall, the Roomba repeatedly got tangled, forcing me to use the app to make it skip cleaning the bedroom. App control and Mapping. The smart mapping feature worked well overall, creating a functional layout of our home. However, it wasn't perfect on the first try. It misinterpreted our stairways as small, separate rooms that needed to be deleted. Our main floor is a very open concept ( kitchen, dining room, living room room) and I had found that I'll need to spend a little more time in the app learning how to divide that large space into smaller custom cleaning zones. Day-to-day operation is simple, I know there's a lot more to learn in the app. Ease of use and time savings This is where the Roomba 104 truly shines. The basic operation is incredibly simple. It's saved me the time of manually cleaning; it has given us a cleaner house because I'm using it to clean more often than I would do on my own. Noise level, I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet the unit is when an operation. The noise level is low and not at all disruptive. We even had friends over while I was finishing a cycle and they commented on how it was so much quieter than the robot vacuum they own from another brand. The only loud moment is when the Roomba docks back at the base station which then sucks out the debris. This purchase has changed my household. We have 3 pets and 3 floors that have historically been covered in tumbleweeds of fur, which drive me bonkers. My wife and I both work 50+hrs/wk so we don't have time to stay on top of things. For a while now she has said she wanted a Roomba so during prime days, I got one. For the holidays, I may very well buy another one for each floor. I love the sound of this thing firing up on time every day. The only issue(s) we've had so far were around this thing running over our cat bowl and getting itself stuck but otherwise, it's worked flawlessly. Here are a few tips: When you first open the box, it's tempting to want to turn things on and to play with the roomba, but let it charge first; otherwise it won't finish mapping and you'll have to do it all over again after it has fully charged. When you run this for the first time it may or may not prompt you to do an update like mine did. After the update, it may also take a little time for you to have the option to map your home, which stressed me out a bit, but it will come back. When you do the original mapping, I recommend blocking off stairs or any areas where this thing might fall or you truly don't want it to go, though afterwards it will remember so you won't have to keep doing it. Take the time to go through the results of the mapping. Name your rooms and set your schedule up appropriately for the best results. A best practice is to also always double check to make sure there are no chords, blankets, socks, etc in Roomba's path. After that, grab a cup of coffee and welcome yourself to the 21st century your vacuuming and mopping are now being handled by a serious expert! I’ve been using the Roomba 104 Robot Vacuum & Mop for a week now, and I’m impressed with how well it performs. During its cleaning cycles, it picks up dust, crumbs, and pet hair reliably, and the mop function gives my floors a nice refreshed look. It doesn’t replace a deep clean, but for everyday upkeep, it does a great job. The setup and use are very straightforward. Connecting it to the app was easy, and scheduling cleanings takes just a few taps. I love being able to set it to run while I’m out, so I come back to a cleaner home without lifting a finger. In terms of time saved, this little robot has cut down my manual cleaning by at least half. Instead of vacuuming and mopping several times a week, I now only need to do a quick touch-up once in a while. That’s hours of my week back. Noise level is reasonable—quieter than a regular vacuum but not completely silent. It’s easy enough to have running in the background without it being too distracting.
