    • Not a good automated vaccuum
Does not work. Almost each time it is used it needs my assistance, which defeats the purpose of having an automatic vaccuum. 1) The battery dies so it randomly shuts off and I have to go find it to put it on the charger, it will just be sitting in the middle of a room, not stuck or trapped. 2) Other times it will say it 'completed the job' but when I look at the map it has only cleaned along the edges of the room it was supposed to clean, I then have to manually tell it to clean that room again, so it also defeats the purpose of an automated vaccuum on a schedule. 3) It will say it could not complete a job because the bin is full, even though it is supposed to be programmed to self empty the bin at its station when needed, so I have to manually tell it to empty the bin and then tell it to restart cleaning the room it didnt finish. I had another iRobot before this one from 4 years ago, I decided to upgrade because I started to notice a similar pattern in the old one and thought the upgraded version might be better, but it is not. Sadly it is too late to return it so I can just warn people to look elsewhere. I think the vaccuum itself works ok, the software is just bad, which makes it more of a hands on automated robot. This thing is amazing! The map was spot on and even showed where it had the map around my dog because he wouldn’t move. Set up was a breeze. It cleans great and it is quieter than my old E5 model.

    • Poor Design - Requires purchase replacement bags rather than simply emptying the dirt
Generally works good - the room tracking is not really accurate but is "good enough" The design requires that you buy new replacement bags for the unit - unlike some other makers / models where you can simply empty the dirt storage areas - just another way they build things to grab more money folks.

    • Consistently Fails to Map
Two weeks, over a dozen mapping runs, none saved. Anything that interrupts the mapping run will result in a fail. While it vacuum’s, it make's a 95% accurate map. But this model can only produce a “smart map” while on a map run. So I have a history of completed maps, but no map in a saved, smart map mode where you can label rooms and apply dividers. I am currently working with iRobot support, who friendly, have so far said reboot the vacuum after an hour on the phone. Another small nIt-pick, this model does not have a handle to pick it up which is a shame as you will need to pick it up often and move it or place it on its home base. It gets caught on most anything other than “nailed” down flooring or carpet. It has also fallen over the stairs and gotten stuck dangling on the stairs multiple times. More times in 2 weeks than our i6 in 5 years. We are very close to simply returning this iRobot and buying a different brand. Very disappointed as this is our 3rd iRobot Roomba. One more attempt to rectify with customer support will decide its future. ... show more
