This review is for iOttie Auto Sense 2 Dash & Windshield Car Phone Holder with Qi Wireless Charging which arrived super fast and was well packaged. The unit included the phone holder along with a power cord, car charger, and an adhesive disk to mount it to. When plugged in, the holder automatically senses the phone when you place it in there, and takes a second to open and the close the arms around the phone, so you do have to pause and wait while it does that. When unplugged, you can use the holder without waiting for it adjust, though of course then the phone doesn't charge. I didn't think I would mind this feature as much as I do, but since I usually am in a rush, pausing to wait while the holder readjusts to the same size it was already at every time I set my phone in is sort of annoying. It seems this feature might be better suited to a family vehicle, where people with different phone sizes are needing to use the holder, however for a single person car where I use the same phone every drive, having to wait for the arms to open and close around my phone every time is mildly tedious. That said, once closed, it is super secure, endlessly adjustable, and charges quickly. While I don't like having to wait for the self adjusting arms to do their job, it works as advertised and is much sturdier than other phone mounts I've tried - recommend! ... show more

1year update. I usually do not do follow-up reviews but I feel the product can be improved. sometime about 6 months ago one of the arms broke inside where it meshes with the gear. I proceeded to glue it back on, then recently about a month ago the other side of the arm failed as well. I could have let one side as a fluke but both of them tell me there is an obvious design flaw. To me the thickness of the plastic arms should be thicker. I think the clamping force on the phones is causing too much stress right where the gear teeth start on both arms as they both broke in the same place. I would predict that this failure will happen to most of these devices. I have super glued both arms and hopefully the bond will make the parts stronger. if it fails again I will try to post pictures. unfortunately this type of failure renders the unit useless as a charger and a phone holder because the phone will fly off at your first change in direction. Update to update. The super glued parts failed again. I would not recommend this device at all, they should make these parts stronger or out of metal, I'm willing to pay the $5 bucks more for a part that will last. As I am on my umpteen of these phone holders, what a waste of money Initial post : It has stayed on the windshield so far for a few weeks. It holds the phone well, the Qi works on iPhone 14 pro and S22U with the bottom extended. And the auto open works well so far. Works great ... until it doesn't. This is the second one of these devices I have purchased from iOttie. I owned the first revision Auto Sense holder and it lasted for about 18 months before failing. Thinking that it was a fluke, I bought a second one, the Auto Sense 2 model, in January of 2024. Now, in March of 2025, less than 15 months later, it is failing as well. Both the previous and current versions developed problems with the auto-clamping "Jaws" that hold the phone in place. For the first one, the jaws just eventually stopped moving, as if the motor that drove them had grown weak. It was still possible to open or close the mount by pushing the jaws open or close, basically "helping" the device along, but this was not good. My second one ha snow also failed. In this case, the clamping jaw on the right side is still working, but the one on the left is completely loose and flops around as if it's not connected to anything at all. In both cases, the device lost the ability to hold my phone in place within a few months of purchase. I tried contacting iOttie's support for assistance with the first one; they never responded to my request. I'm not going to bother the second time, because at this point, it's pretty clear they are unable or unwilling to do anything. It's too bad. The device itself feels well built, charges my Galaxy S24+ fast and flawlessly, and it easy to use for as long as it lasts. But it doesn't last. There are several competing brands that sell for half the price; I've avoided them because they're all off-brand Chinese products that probably have no support. But this device has no support to speak of either, so what's the point? If you want to experiment with this technology, I suggest buying a cheaper one from a competitor. I gotta say, this iOttie Auto Sense 2 phone holder is a lifesaver for anyone who spends a lot of time in the car. The best part? It automatically clamps around my phone when I place it in the holder—no more fussing with trying to lock it in while I’m driving. Plus, it’s super versatile since it can go on either the dash or the windshield, which is great if you like switching things up. The wireless charging is a huge win, especially when I’m running low on battery during long drives. I just drop my phone in, and it starts charging without me even thinking about it. It’s Qi-compatible, so it works like a charm with my iPhone and would work with most other major brands, too—Google, Samsung, you name it. The only downside is that the power adapter isn’t included, so make sure you have one handy or plan to pick one up separately. Super easy to set up and use. Securely holds my Galaxy Fold 5 (closed) in place and allows fast wireless charging. Closes promptly when putting my phone against it, only issue is that the arms don't stay open when I remove my phone. I press the release buttons and the arms will open then close again right away, so I have to press the release buttons each time I want to attach or detach my phone. I will never again buy a phone holder that has a powered opening/closing system. First, even when it works, it's inconvenient. I would like to place my phone in the holder before I turn on the car, to get it out of my hand. (I don't like digging into my pockets when I'm sitting, and even less when I'm buckled into a car.) But you can't use it when the car is off. But second, it doesn't always work. Sometimes it's in the wrong "mode" and you have to press the buttons to open it. Other times, it just doesn't work. I've had to pry the phone out (up works) from the holder once or twice. It's nifty when it works -- if only it worked consistently. (And if only it worked when the car is off.) I will probably replace this with a holder with a mechanical claw. I think, given how this one is used, the ideal connector would just let you dial the right width, and drop the phone in from the top. (Maybe that wouldn't be tight enough for the charging function?) It would also be nice if the charger could tell you how well centered it is over the phone's coils, but that's probably more a complaint about the phone than the charger. ... show more

The best phone car mount I have tried! It was easy to install on my windshield and it seems to be sturdy and stable. I love how there are buttons on the side that automatically push the phone holders inwards to firmly hold your phone in place. That way, my phone is not going to fall down in the middle of driving. The wireless charging works great, even with my phone having a heavy/thick otter box case. The cord is long enough so I was able to run it from the left corner of the windshield to the cigarette lighter in the front console. Just be aware that phones can get very hot with these types of chargers, so on longer or hotter days, I just unplug the cord so it’s not charging but still mounted. ... show more

Bought this for my Pixel 8 Pro after agonizing for awhile about whether any wireless chargers would be able to charge fast enough to keep up while using navigation and Bluetooth audio. This one does so far! I have it positioned so an a/c vent blows on it to mitigate heat buildup while wireless charging. Still unsure if it will slow down charging significantly in the hot Texas summers, but I'm hopeful it will keep working perfectly. Ordering a second one for my wife's car. UPDATE: The arms that hold the phone and automatically clamp seem to wear out under normal use and break. Had this dock about 6 months, and I have attached pictures of my attempted super glue repair of the broken arm. It cracked at the thinnest point and would push out, but not squeeze back down. Upon inspection, there's stress discoloration of the plastic in the same location on the opposing arm that leads me to believe the parts just aren't strong enough to bear the repeated clamping force and it will ultimately fail as well. We have two, and I haven't inspected the other one because it isn't yet broken, but it was in our secondary car and sees much less use. The charger charges very well, but doesn't appear to be durable enough to justify the high price tag for a car charger. ... show more
