Frequently asked questions

Setting up the Intex 20 Foot Steel Frame Round Pool involves selecting a level area, laying down the ground cloth, assembling the frame according to the instruction manual, and installing the liner. It's critical to ensure that the frame is level and secure before filling the pool with water. You might need 2-3 people to assist you with the setup process.

While the pool can stay up year-round, it is recommended to disassemble and store it during the winter in areas with freezing temperatures to prevent damage. If you do leave it up, be sure to winterize it properly, following the steps provided in the owner's manual to protect it from the weather.

Regular maintenance for this pool includes checking the pH and chlorine levels, vacuuming the pool floor, skimming debris off the water surface, and replacing the filter cartridge as per the manufacturer’s guidelines, which is usually every two weeks during heavy usage.

The filling time for the Intex 20 Foot Pool depends on your water pressure and hose size. On average, it may take anywhere from 4 to 10 hours. The water capacity for this pool when filled to 90% is approximately 7,947 gallons (30,079 liters).

🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The Intex Frame Pool series offers a quick, durable, and enjoyable solution for summer fun. Customers applaud these pools for their easy setup, sturdiness, and adequate size for comfortable relaxation. Users suggested that investing in a larger pump than provided could enhance the experience, as the included pump lacks strength. For any pool, balancing of chemicals is essential, and replacement liners are conveniently available from Intex.

Pros

  • 🏊 Sturdy design stands up to use
  • 🌅 Attractive appearance and easy setup
  • 💦 The liner material provides a pleasant feel
  • 🌞 Great for lounging and relaxation
  • 💡 Replacement liners are easily obtainable
  • 💵 Excellent value for the price

Cons

  • 🧪 Requires diligent chemical management
  • 🪨 Vulnerable to puncture if not carefully installed on a clean surface
  • 🪜 Accessibility might require additional steps or ladders, especially for certain heights

Should I Buy It?

If you're looking for a relatively inexpensive and durable pool that's easy to set up for summer fun, the Intex Frame Pool could be a great choice. It's suitable for lounging and relaxing, but consider investing in a more robust pump for maintenance. Just make sure to properly prepare the ground before installation to avoid punctures. If you're willing to manage the necessary pool chemicals and potentially upgrade the pump, this pool is definitely worth considering.

  • Easy setup! Good value for price!
Size: 10' x 30"
Great pool! so far. This item didn’t come with the ground cover as it alludes to. Was bought as a present for my nephews 11 birthday and he’s been thrilled. Would also be very nice for adults looking to just soak and relax. Assembly was fairly easy, and I setup most of frame by myself. Inserting the last elbow & vertical bar does require two people. The included pump works great! but you absolutely have to buy the extra filters. After the initial pump run, the included filter was extremely dirty! wasn’t even worth rinsing. So filter management will be the #1 thing to keep this pool up and running as long it can. I can def see how folks complain about the pump, the pump does not work efficiently when the filter is dirty (check filter first). But, the 10’ x 30” is a perfect size. A good purchase decision. ... show more

  • Good and consistent product by Intex
Size: 12' x 30"
This is our third Intex pool but first time buying off Amazon. Their more current model has revised the support bars to rigid plastic now without connector pins, which makes it much easier to assemble and will reduce rusting (only the legs are metal and they do not have any holes cut in them). The only problem we had was the legs were not fitting into the plastic feet very well. After trying a couple different things, we finally took a hammer and lightly tapped the end of each leg and that got them to fit the feet. Pool has been up for 3 weeks now without any issues. The other change made is the plug for the pump has a built in timer that only allows the pump to run for a maximum of 10 hours. We normally had it on a timer for 12-16 hours per day to increase filtration, so we'll see how the 10 hour max works. ... show more

  • Excellent product
Size: 12' x 30"
The assembly was easy. I did it alone. I was worried about possible leaks reported by some customers. So I filled it up with 5 inches of water and let stand for a day. After verifying the absence of leaks, I filled it to the brim. It's surprisingly sturdy and good looking. It looks real! Excellent product. Suggestion: keep leveling the legs while filling it up. They won't stay vertical without water. They will be hard to move as it becomes full. ... show more

  • Huge decline in quality! Especially the bottom. Now leaking right after setup.
Size: 10' x 30"
I’m shocked how much they decreased the quality! I’d rather pay $10-20 more for the same quality it was 2 years ago. 3rd pic is the one I bought May of 2023…you can see they changed the design. That one got destroyed last summer by a bad storm which is no fault of Intex. But this new quality is ridiculous and isn’t the prism supposed to be a bit better of a line than the regular blue ones? The bottom used to be the same exact material and thickness as the sides and it was very thick. Not only has the side material gotten noticeably thinner, the bottom is not the same. I felt how light the box felt and then how light the liner felt when I got it out. I thought there was something missing or that they packed the wrong liner because I remember how heavy and thick the last one was. You can see in the second pic how much the sun comes through the bottom. On the last one, no sun went through the sides or bottom. I was literally afraid to put this up and puncture it, it’s so thin. The bottom is now the same thinness as the cheap blowup pools from the dollar store for $20. What’s the point of having the nice poles when you go so cheap on the liner, your finger nail could rip it? So disappointing! I don’t see this being able to last past this year. Plus, I haven’t measured it but it also does not fit in the same indention as the last one. Several inches on all sides smaller. I don’t have the old anymore to measure but I’d guess it’s smaller too…even though they’re supposed to have both been 10ft. **edited after finishing the setup and filling with water today 6/1/25. Have to lower the rating again. Added 2 pics of leaking water. There is pooling water around it and I can’t find where it’s coming from. I’ve wiped away the water and these pictures were after that when the water pooled back into these spots. So it’s either leaking from the seams or somewhere on the very thin bottom. I’ve checked all the hose points and drain and they’re not leaking. I could live with the lower quality if it lasted the year but really?! Also, I have a tarp at the very bottom on the dirt then I have this very thick felt that’s used for huge above ground pools that I cut to fit. And then I just bought another brand new tarp to put on top of that. I opened and put it down the same time I set up the pool today. ... show more

  • Decent pool for the price.
Size: 12' x 30"
Took some time to set up but seems okay for the one-fifty price tag. Instructions were not clear and setup took a couple hours if uou take your time. (Besides filling it). During filling, you gotta keep adjusting it and smoothing out any wrinkles in the bottom. I have a pice that I can’t figure out where it goes - (white plastic part in the pictures) . Also the filter return connection at the edge of the pool pops off easily. I’ll try to get a metal clamp or something. I bought this with the intention of trashing it after the season, but I may drain and store it depending on how well it holds up. No ladder included with mine. I think it’s the 12ft x 30in. Came with filter and pump and hardware. ... show more

  • Great summer our purchase
Size: 15' x 42"
Perfect summer purchase! This pool was easy to set up with two adults and one teenager. The directions were clear and easy. I do feel like the pump is only okay and current to looking for a better pump. It is durable enough to withstand Kansas winds and dirt along with the ruckus of teenagers in and out often. • Affordable Small Sturdy Pool
Size: 10' x 30"
Was originally going to wait a month after set up, however we just had a severe storm last night and this little mighty pool stood its ground. We were originally hesitant to purchase due to the mixed reviews about leaks but took the chance. The pump it comes with is just enough power for its size, of course proper maintenance and initial set up is key. We do recommend a pool cover and steps . ... show more
