This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The reviews indicate that the pool is an overall solid choice for outdoor summer fun. The setup is described as straightforward and the size comfortable, offering ample space for several teenagers. While the process of leveling the ground before installation is emphasized as crucial and potentially time-consuming, once assembled, the pool is perceived as highly durable and the saltwater system effective for maintaining cleanliness.

Pros

  • 👍 Easy Setup and Assembly
  • 🏊‍♀️ Ample Size for multiple people
  • 💪 Highly Durable Once Assembled
  • 🌊 Effective Saltwater System

Cons

  • 👷‍♂️ Ground Leveling can be Time-consuming
  • 🚧 Included Ladder is described as Wobbly and potentially Unsafe
  • 🚿 Included Pump may be too Small, according to some Users

Should I Buy It?

  • Sweet Upgrade!
Size: 32' x 16' Style: Saltwater System
We are very happy with this pool so far. We previously owned the 12x24 for several years, but just installed this 16x32. Wow, this thing is huge! I have been a fan of these pools since our first one, and this is no exception. The hardest part about putting it together what handling the single 636 pound box it came in. Because the driver could not back down my driveway, we unloaded it into the bed of my pickup truck. I then unboxed it right there from the truck and it worked out fine. Because this pool is large and needs both a really flat and level area, and has substantial weight on the legs, we chose to have a local concrete company poor a 18" wide perimeter of concrete around where the pool would be. We then filled it with mortar sand and topped with a Gorilla cover. The end result is that the pool is 100% completely level and very secure. I modified our deck and installed a Vevor dock ladder for access to the pool, everything purchased from Amazon. I did not ding Intex any stars over this, because I knew going in their included ladder and skimmer were no good, but the ladder is really only appropriate for kids and very small adults. It is not stable or strong enough for bigger adults, and the skimmer is completely useless. I installed a Hayward-style skimmer through the liner wall, and these work great. My only suggestion for Intex is the same one I made years ago, and they seem stuck in their ways: Include a real skimmer in the pool kit and increase the pump power. It seems every pump is slightly under-powered for the pool side. The 12x24 pump is great for the 9x12 pool, the 16x32 pump for the 12x24, etc, but the ones they include are under-powered for the pool size. I don't expect them to last forever, and when the Intex pump goes out in a couple years, I will replace with a larger model, probably from Vevor. Overall, Intex does a good job of providing a very good pool, for a fair price, at the expense of not quite enough power or usable accessories. If you know this going it, and your expectations are maybe slightly lower, you will be very happy with this pool. In short, it is a very good value. Be prepared to install a real skimmer, have a good way to get in and out of the pool without using the stock ladder, and plan to upgrade the pump in a year or two. Make sure your land is very flat and prepared for the pool. I assembled the hole pool myself in about an hour and only needed help from the wife when standing up the walls before filling. It took 28 hours to fill the 14,300 gallons from 2 garden hoses. ... show more

  • Great value pool
Size: 24' x 12' Style: Saltwater System
This is a great pool for a flat backyard. The affordability and quality is a great combination. Assembly time estimate is optimistic. Make sure you buy sand before setup. The only downside of the pool is the ladder. It is a bit wobbly and in the sun will make the handles pretty hot.

  • Absolutely amazing pool!!
Size: 32' x 16' Style: Saltwater System
Absolutely amazing and gigantic! I mean its Texas BIG! We put down sand, then a mat we had (the brown one), then the mat that came with it. This pool was a lot of work for 2 inexperienced older adults! It took us 2 days to set up...we're old and its hot in Texas! But its done and we love it. Also came with salt water pump, ladder, volleyball set, cleaning tools, all sorts of stuff! Its just perfect and we are very happy ... show more

  • Overall great pool for the money - Take the time to prepare!
Size: 24' x 12' Style: Saltwater System
It's a great pool and I do recommend it. I contemplated the 32 x 16 and 24 x 12. I built a frame with PVC for both sizes to see how it would fit in my yard. I eventually went with the 12 x 24 and it was a good decision. Although the 32 x 16 would have fit, it really would have taken up a large chunk of my yard. I can't emphasize enough to follow the instructions to be sure your area is PERFECTLY level. Also, to use pressure treated wood or concrete blocks under the side braces. I had an area leveled by a contractor with packed stabilized DG . I was going to put in concrete blocks where the braces met the ground, but as we were preparing the area, there was no way to tell exactly where the braces will meet the ground until the pool was rolled out. After the area was prepared, the DG was hard as a rock so I thought it would suffice and I didn't bother putting in concrete blocks. But after filling the pool and the weight started bearing down on those braces, they started sinking into the DG. Once a corner sunk enough for water to start coming out it was like a dam breaking and it was all over! I had to empty the pool, have the area re-leveled and put concrete blocks in where the braces met the ground. The pros of this pool: * Very durable. Once up and filled, it is very solid. The kids have played rough in it and no problems. * 52 inch height is a comfortable height and you don't feel like you are in a "kiddy" pool. * My local pool stores sell similar pools for 3 to 4 times as much and I don't see a difference in quality between their similar pool and the Intex pool. * It is easy to assemble, but its not 30 minutes as the add says! Cons * As many folks have said, the included pump is to small for this pool. The specifications say it is OK- but it is a minimum specification. I had a 2600GPH pump that I had bought as an upgrade for a previous Intex pool so I used that. * The ladder is wobbly and not very safe. One of the steps broke as a 170lb person was climbing up. I would recommend buying a different ladder or building a small deck to get in and out. A note to manufacturer - for a few bucks more it would be nice to put some attention to the following items: * It would be nice to include a blueprint with measurements of the pool and brace spacing so concrete pads can be put in for the braces when you are preparing the area - before rolling out the pool (how far they protrude from the sides, distance between the braces, etc) * The flimsy suction hoses - they pull on side of the pool and it looks very cheesy as they hang off the side of the pool bending the pool liner. Why cant you use the same fittings for the suction hoses as the return hose? * For $10 more can you provide a ground cloth that is more than paper thin? It ripped just putting it down on the ground as we were pulling the wrinkles out. The exposed part disintegrated within a couple days. * The suction and return are inches apart. I am not an expert - but I think that it would be better water circulation to have the suction at one end and the water return at the opposite end? * A nice blue exterior or some kind of design would be nicer than grey with giant INTEX logo on it! ... show more

  • Bad product support/customer support
Size: 24' x 12' Style: Saltwater System
The quality of the pool itself is good but the motors are horrible ... I have had problems with this since I got it and all they do is keep sending motors that don't work (I couldn't open the pool last year due to surgery's) but the problems continued when I tried to open it this year ... I had to send the motor back this last time and it cost $100 it has been almost a month since they recieved it (confirmed multiple times by customer service) and I am still waiting for it to be processed ... I have asked for a manager call back because apparently they don't have one on site ... after the 24-48 hours they tell you it will take for the call back I have been waiting for almost 2 weeks ... I am continuing to call back everyday and they tell me someone will call me back that same day but it hasn't happened (this has been going on for 4days so far) ... my warranty ended during this season (after the second motor replacement) and they are giving me a harder time because of it even though the log clearly shows the problem has not been fixed ... if you are looking for a pool do not go with intex ... they do not have repair guys or anyone that can figure out the actual problem (this was told to me by customer service) all they will do is send motors !!! ... show more

  • Impressive pool - great value
Size: 32' x 16' Style: Saltwater System
I bought this pool in April 2020. It lasted us through 6 seasons of Florida hot weather. We just took it down last month. I am very impressed with the quality and strength of the liner. I cannot believe that it lasted this long especially given that it was in full sun the entire time. We kept the pool running year long by keeping up with the cleaning and running the pump and the chlorinator, but reducing the time. The main things that required changing over time, were the hoses, the skimmer, and the titanium electrode in the chlorinator (if you get the pool and pump combo like we did). We ended up upgrading our stairs to something bigger, but that was just a preference. Looking back now, I prefer the stairs that came with the pool since they are much easier to maintain and do not collect algae since they can be accesses easily to be cleaned. I highly recommend putting pavers under the U-shaped legs when installing the pool. We got the large 18 inch paver squares and put one under each leg. It helped tremendously prevent any rusting of the legs. In addition is helps the legs from sinking into the ground. The legs have a lot of pressure when pool is filled so the pavers kept them level and stable. I also kept the pump and chlorinator covered the entire time to protect from the elements and mostly the heat. I put a folding table over it and put a cover on the table. This was a make-shift shelter but it helped keep it covered and at the same time it gave me easy access to the pump and chlorinator. I used the top of the table to store some our floats and other pool items. So I do recommend finding some type of cover to put over the pump to protect it. Lastly I do recommend investing in a robotic type pool cleaner. I tried the manual vacuum that came with the pool and it worked fine, but it takes a while to clean the entire pool that way and it was not easy to reach all spots. ... show more

  • Worth it
Size: 24' x 12' Style: Saltwater System
This is a five star product for a couple reasons. Let's just get out the way now that this pool does require work and some education about balancing your water. If you are ready and serious about taking care of your own pool I do recommend Intex saltwater system for sure. I've had this pool 2 years now, this is my second summer and I put it up last year and left it up the whole time, I plan on continuing to leave it up. I will not be taking in down and storing it for winter. I also did not winterize it properly last year due to the pump telling me "low flow" and I got frustrated and said I will deal with it next year. Well this summer we cleaned all the dirty water out, scrubbed the bottom with the brush they give you and filled her up again once she was clean. I had also made sure to clean my lines, disconnected them all, rinsed them out, changed the sand to new sand and then hooked everything back up. I no longer have low flow issues. I struggled with getting the right salt ratio the pump told me high salt and would not chlorinate the pool. It started turning green and I got frustrated again. I recommend you keep some chlorine packs on hand, and become very familiar with your vacuum. My least favorite part of this pool is vacuuming it. The chlorine clears it up beautifully and causes all that algae to drop to the floor. The vacuuming maybe takes about 20 min and prepare to see the water level drop a bit and have water every where in your yard. I don't mind that part. I'm just so happy it got cleaned. I also recommend you buy a water testing kit to start learning about balancing the pool water AND buy yourself a robot vacuum!!!!! I have my robot cleaning the pool everyday to pick up what I could not and it's sooooo clear and helps reduce manually vacuuming the pool. All in all, this pool takes work. No pool company will come out and work on it for me bc it's not an installed above ground pool so I am entirely on my own. I'm a new mom of 2 and my husband only helped me move the heavy thing and clean out the water. If I can do this, so can you. It's 5 star because nothing I got frustrated about is any fault of the pool. It happens with any pool and the amazing part was I could fix it myself without paying anyone. Intex customer service is hit or miss depending on if you get someone overseas or native English speaker but I won't deduct a point for that either. Everything still works and it feels like a brand new pool still. ... show more
