  • Great pool, easy set up, easy to maintain
Size: 18 ft x 48 in Configuration: Pool
Great pool. Instructional video was very helpful in showing proper set up. All parts were included, and it was set up within two days. Our water pressure is pretty weak, so it took a full two days to fill. I cleaned out the filter every other day, just used a pressure nozzle on my hose to clean it up. I also ordered replacement filters from amazon for the rest of the summer use. I did need to buy pool chemicals from a pool store to learn how to properly keep the water balanced, but I have no prior experience with Pools, so the store helped me greatly. I definitely recommend running the pool pump overnight to keep the water moving and brooming the bottom of the pool a couple times a week. More if it’s used heavily. Upgrade the pool pump if you can, might make keeping the water cleaner, but bc of Covid and high demand for pools, I was not able to get one. Having said that, however the pump that came with the pool kept the water clean and clear. After summer, we cleaned it and folded it up and managed to get it back in the original box . We did need to use a diluted bleach solution on the underside of the pool, rinse it well, than allow to dry in the sun. Sprinkled talc powder and folded it up. The ground tarp that comes with the pool had to be thrown out, it smelled too bad from sitting on wet grass and mud for 3 months. ... show more

  • Excellent pool
Size: 18 ft x 48 in Configuration: Pool
I love this pool. Set it up late in the season (July) and used it many times during this summer to make my purchase completely worth it. I have heavy iron in my well water in my area and filled the pool with the hose. After adding the necessary and specific balance of pool chemicals for my water situation, and changing and washing the filters (I bought extra filters) the water was crystal clear and amazing after about 2 weeks of daily attention. At first I changed and washed the filters every other day and then 1x per week for the rest of the season. I put extra tarps around the pool, tacked the tarps down, kept them washed and put a netting pool cover for bugs and debris. The cover that comes with the pool is fine but difficult for me to manage on my own. I also bought a vacuum for the pool to get the extra iron sediment that settled to the bottom. I have had no problems with this pool at all and the filter works great because of my discipline of changing and washing the filter, and staying on a cleaning and pool chemical schedule. The pool is large enough (18') for me to float around on my raft with my cocktail and exercise daily. I'll pack this pool away in the fall and look forward to setting it up year after year. Will probably invest in a heater for next season to extend my season since I live in the north. This year for about $200 more dollars in accessories this pool turned out to be a gem. A very economical, fun way to have your own pool. ... show more

  • It's the Good In Between option. BUT...
Size: 18 ft x 48 in Configuration: Pool
Please read this IF you're a pool newbie, IF you're on well water, IF you want to know exactly how much effort is required to own this pool and properly maintain it. First, this is a good option for people in the "in between" crowd who don't want a blow-up-by-mouth pool for kids, but aren't ready to make the commitment to a "real" above-ground or in-ground pool. HOWEVER, it definitely requires planning, foresight, and proper maintenance. You're not going to fare well if you buy, inflate, and fill in a weekend. PLANNING: You absolutely must have a level spot. Even a six inch different between one side of it and another is too much. We learned the hard way and filled it clear full only to discover how badly it leaned. So we emptied several thousands of gallons of water and started over. It's still not perfect, but it will get us through this summer. Next summer, we are making a thick sand pad for the pool to level out. Please plan first and save your self time and water. You need a level site! Also, please have your pool chemicals at the ready. Check out the free pool school online (a lifesaver for us) about how to treat your pool water. If you fail to do this, you will have infectious water in a matter of a week! Because it holds so much water, you can't just empty and refill when it gets nasty. The site offers a chemical calculator. You also need testing strips. And you will need chlorine (liquid is best) NOT the scented kind and not the low or no splash kind from the grocery stores. You must have real liquid chlorine. This is the cheapest way to properly disinfect the water according to the Pool School. You can order this kind of bleach on Amazon for pretty cheap. You will also want Cyanuric Acid. It acts as like a sun screen for the chlorine. Sunlight causes chlorine to break down, thus losing its cleaning power. CYA acts as a chlorine protectant. Even still, on hot sunny days, of high temps, I find I'm adding new chlorine every day to keep the levels safe. WELL WATER: We are on a rural well with high iron. Extremely high. But our outdoor spigots do not run through the house filter. So, we ended up with dark brown water (think as dark as a Coke) from the loose iron particles floating around. To remedy this, the Intex filter is not big nor complex enough tot handle it, so we made our own filter based off of YouTube videos from people with the same exact pool and problems on a well. Basically you buy a 5 gallon bucket with a lid and you stuff it with pillow poly-fill. The water runs through that, and seriously comes out clean! It is a cheap, amazing solution to iron water. In about 3 days our Coke-like water went to stunningly clear. Please check out YouTube under Intex pool and well water with iron. COVER: The provided cover is a joke. Sorry. 2-stars. We don't have any trees nearby, so we leave the cover off. LADDER: Very sturdy, but not very wide for an adult to use. I have wider hips and felt wobbly climbing down into the water from the top steps. It's fine for kids, though. 3-stars. PUMP: It's okay. It seems strong enough to do its job. 4-stars. FILTERS: There are a few kinds, you definitely want to upgrade to a polyester one. They do a better job. AND build your own if you're on a well with iron. DURABILITY: It is very think on it's sides and bottom. I think as long as it is not punctured or on rocks, it will be fine. Though, if you're unlevel, the sides cave in more and the round pool becomes more like an oval. I am not sure how it will hold up over winter time in storage (we're in MN). I think if we properly clean and dry it before rolling it up, it should be fine. EXTRA THOUGHTS: Buy the chemicals, testing strips, and a pool vacuum ahead of time. I think, Intex offers a vacuum kit. plan ahead. Our kids LOVE this pool. If it lasts 2 summers, we will be satisfied. They are in it daily. They are 8, 6, and 5. So many toys are cruddy these days and kids lose interest. This pool has been a lifesaver for us for keeping them occupied on hot summer days when school is out. We have no regrets, but we wish we had planned our site better. ALSO, if I had to do it again, I would likely buy the Intex pool with sturdy sides. I dislike how this soft-sided one becomes more oblong and oval. For this reason it cannot be filled more than 3 - 3.5 feet deep. We do recommend it. ... show more
