Initial impression of the mola pot was pretty positive - it’s a nice brewer that satisfied the basic requirements for making expresso for someone getting into making it at home. Only gripe I had with it originally that the lid didn’t really stay put when opened and the spout is prone to spillage unless pouring a very small stream. However, with less than 2 months of semi-daily use (purchased 5/7, today is 7/5), the handle broke when I went to pick up the pot from the stove and hot liquid spilled all over my stove and kitchen floor. I use it to make my Café Bustelo coffee, do not come for me, I only fill the coffee part half to three quarters for that, because full is too strong for me. I also use it to make my iced brown sugar, shaken espresso, I do fill it all the way to the top for that and I use a different brand of coffee for that. I’m sorry, but cafe bustello is just so creamy and perfect and MOST be enjoyed hot con leche. When I first got it, I ran water through it three times on the stove and then I ran a pot of coffee through it that I did not drink. That got rid of any and all debris, if there was any in there. It didn’t look like it, but better safe than sorry. Plus you have to like season it. From there on out it was perfect and ready to go. I have never washed it with soap, only water and a paper towel or just run water through it. Pro tip…. Boil water before putting it in the moka pot to make coffee, it just seems sooo much smoother, and add a pinch of salt to the coffee. If you know you know. I bought a 9 cup greca, I got disappointed when I saw it, it had black spots all over the lid, is very hard and makes a really loud noise ( very loud) when trying to turn both parts to connect and make the coffee. I always have bought IMUSA brand but this time was not the best choice. I might return it. ... show more
