When I put in my new grill gazebo I did not realize that its aluminum roof would gather heat during the day, making the inside pretty warm. I started researching outdoor fans and the iLiving was the best I found, either at the big box improvement stores, or online. This fan is terrific. I got the 14" and all three speeds are useful. The strongest is such a strong blast I normally use the middle setting. It comes with a long pull chain that is easily snipped to the size that works best for you. Let me answer some questions you may have: How long is the power cord? Six feet so you may need an extension like I did. For the best match, be sure you get a three plug round black cable in typical 14 gauge. I really like the inexpensive one from Woods also available on Amazon. It's a perfect match. Be sure you get an extension cord for outdoor use. What hardware is included? / How to attach the fan? There are two holes on the steel bracket that comes attached to the back of the fan. It's easy to install. I bought some nuts and bolts on my own that best fit the metal frame I was attaching it to. One hole is larger than the other so two different sizes are needed. Two healthy sized wood screws are included but I needed a nut and bolt for my use attaching to metal. Does it swivel? Yes, you decide if you prefer side to side or front to back. Because I needed to orient the included bracket horizontally, it swivels front to back for my use, or perpendicular to the bracket. (See my picture with fan attached to gazebo side.) if you need it to swivel in all directions, depending on your available space for hardware, you will need to pick up an additional bracket such as an L bracket. Is it noisy? Just the sound of the wind it makes! Really well built, solid and no rattles. Can it work on a timer? Absolutely! That's how I use mine, plugged into a pool/spa type of timer that lets you choice hours you wish it to be running. It also works fine with newer smart timers that work of phone APPs, etc. ... show more

    • This fan is impervious to the elements

Oh my goodness! This fan has been really amazing. I got it because my neighbor smokes, and I wanted to try to keep the smoke smell from entering my yard. I actually got two of these fans so that I could place them in strategic locations. I leave one of them on all the time on low, turning it off only if there is a forecast for ice or freezing rain. I'm not sure that would have any detrimental effect on the fan, but I figure there's no point in the motor trying to work when the fan blades are possibly accumulating ice. When I'm outside and my neighbor comes out, I will turn the first fan on to high, and then I will also turn the second fan on to high as well. It's amazing the difference they make. When they are on high, they are quite loud, and the one that I leave on low all the time is vibrating a little bit, but I think it's because of the angle I have it set on. That is another effective feature of this fan. You can angle the air flow pretty much anywhere you want it. I have left both fans out year round, and they both work completely fine. The one that is on low, I actually have on a timer so it comes on every day for 18 hours and goes off from midnight to 6:00 a.m. . The one thing to be aware of with these fans though is that when they are on high, they do draw quite a bit of electricity. For a short period of time, I left both of them on high because I was out in the yard a lot, and I actually saw a difference in my electricity usage. Leaving one of them on low 18 hours a day is much less impactful. It makes sense that they draw a bit of electricity though because the air flow is quite significant when the highest setting is used. The one other thing I want to point out about this fan, and it is pretty much the reason I bought it among the others I found, is that it works just fine sitting on a flat surface. In fact, I have it zip tied to a milk crate to elevate it just a bit, and then the milk crate is anchored in place with bricks. It has worked just fine for both fans. When I was searching for a fan for my particular usage, I needed one that did not have to be wall mounted, and I also wanted one that was truly weatherproof. This one has satisfied both of those requirements, in addition to having a strong air flow to do what I need it to do. I highly recommend this fan if your needs are similar to mine. ... show more

This fan is perfect for our outdoor patio. Mounted under canopy, can point it straight down or tilt towards seating. Has 3 speeds, but medium is fine for most warm days. Typical fan noise but the sound relaxes me and can put me to sleep 😉. Very solid frame and mounts securely. Generates great breeze from about 10’ away. Will see how it holds up over time and when attacked by moisture. ... show more

    • Moves a LOT of air

Bottom line: though it could be improved somewhat, this fan moves LOTS of air, all the way across our patio! We love this thing and it makes a really significant difference in comfort. Living in the south, we have normally been able to use our patio only a few weeks out of the year. We're out there multiple times every day now. Better cooling than I dared hope for. There are a couple of small issues. On it's lowest setting, there is some vibration. This is mounted to an outside wall shared with our kitchen. When on low setting, persons inside can hear the dishes in the cabinets vibrating. Nothing seems to vibrate enough to move off a shelf and fall or anything, just a little rattling. And, on higher speeds, this smoothes out nicely with no real vibration or noise indoors. It would be nice if the included screws were black like the rest of the fan, but they were the nickel like plating. Just went to the hardware store and picked up some black ones. Only other issue was that for some reason, they included a "stop" on the fan's tilt positioning. It was preventing us from getting the fan aimed just right. 60 seconds with a dremel fixed that. In spite of the few annoyances, this fan totally deserves 5 stars. Excellent air mover that I would think anyone would love! I mostly mention the minor things as suggestions for the manufacturer. ... show more
