Oh my goodness! This fan has been really amazing. I got it because my neighbor smokes, and I wanted to try to keep the smoke smell from entering my yard. I actually got two of these fans so that I could place them in strategic locations. I leave one of them on all the time on low, turning it off only if there is a forecast for ice or freezing rain. I'm not sure that would have any detrimental effect on the fan, but I figure there's no point in the motor trying to work when the fan blades are possibly accumulating ice. When I'm outside and my neighbor comes out, I will turn the first fan on to high, and then I will also turn the second fan on to high as well. It's amazing the difference they make. When they are on high, they are quite loud, and the one that I leave on low all the time is vibrating a little bit, but I think it's because of the angle I have it set on. That is another effective feature of this fan. You can angle the air flow pretty much anywhere you want it. I have left both fans out year round, and they both work completely fine. The one that is on low, I actually have on a timer so it comes on every day for 18 hours and goes off from midnight to 6:00 a.m. . The one thing to be aware of with these fans though is that when they are on high, they do draw quite a bit of electricity. For a short period of time, I left both of them on high because I was out in the yard a lot, and I actually saw a difference in my electricity usage. Leaving one of them on low 18 hours a day is much less impactful. It makes sense that they draw a bit of electricity though because the air flow is quite significant when the highest setting is used. The one other thing I want to point out about this fan, and it is pretty much the reason I bought it among the others I found, is that it works just fine sitting on a flat surface. In fact, I have it zip tied to a milk crate to elevate it just a bit, and then the milk crate is anchored in place with bricks. It has worked just fine for both fans. When I was searching for a fan for my particular usage, I needed one that did not have to be wall mounted, and I also wanted one that was truly weatherproof. This one has satisfied both of those requirements, in addition to having a strong air flow to do what I need it to do. I highly recommend this fan if your needs are similar to mine. ... show more

We purchased these to make our back patio more enjoyable in the hot summer months. The past couple years we’ve spent very limited time outside because it’s so hot and humid. We are now excited to use this space more. There was no assembly to the fan itself, just mounted and plugged in. After reading the reviews I did opted to purchase fan covers even though they are ‘water proof’ hoping to protect some of the hardware that might rust. Hi! I’m blown away by the quality and how heavy duty this fan is. Lol Typically it’s too hot to sit outback during the peak heat hours. But after I installed this fan, that all changed. I rarely have to put it on above the lowest setting. It moves a lot of air fast. I really like the fully encased maintenance free motor. It came with a heavy duty cord that looks to be about 10 ft long. It came with a long pull cord handle to change speeds. So if you’re mounting it up high, you can still reach the speed and on/off control. Time will tell as to how well it will hold up but it’s extremely heavy duty and should last for many many years. I suggest two people to install it and you better make sure it’s being secured into something heavy duty. I did it by myself, and sure wish I had asked for help. But once it’s installed, it’s solid and isn’t going anywhere. Definitely a five star product. Hope this helps. ... show more
