We have a 3 level home and wanted a way to allow our cats to move freely from upstairs to the basement without allowing the dogs free reign. This instant cat door has solved that problem! The install is super easy. It requires a drill to remove the door, a tape measured to align the template, and then a jigsaw preferable to make the cut. I have a couple chonky boys, and was worried that most of the cat doors would be too small to accommodate their thiccc hips. This insert has shown to be perfect, allowing easy ingress and egress from my bedroom at night, so I can finally sleep with door closed. Longest part was trimming the width for my door. I chose to use a hack saw, which took a few minutes but was very controllable. A fine tooth reciprocating saw or thin cut off wheel may have worked, but I elected for the manual process, holding the piece in a vice. I did have to snap off a few tabs on one side with pliers to get that side to sit flush with the door. Did not affect functionality or aesthetics. Actual install was quick and easy. Pop the pins on the door hinges, throw the door on the bed, trace the included template, cut it with a jigsaw, screw in each side of the unit. Maybe 10 total minutes, including pulling and reinstalling the door and vacuuming the sawdust. ... show more

First thought, I hope I don't mess up a good door. But this template made it really easy, just use a jigsaw with wood blade and it was super simple . Highly recommend and will be getting another for another door.

The media could not be loaded. I bought this for my two cats. What I didn’t know was that it could also fit a Husky. So I should’ve got a smaller one. But 5 stars for easy installation and functionality! 0 stars for me not measuring before I picked one.

I'm not sure why there were two packs with two different types of screws. There were instructions on the box and a pamphlet with instructions inside as well, they didn't match. Screws aren't used to secure the cat door anywhere on the product. With a bit of struggling I got it to fit together but it's not flush with the door on one side.
