    • Only cooler I could find that actually gives cool water
I tried 3 different water coolers before deciding to keep this one. The other brand that's popular on Amazon does not produce cold enough water, I don't know why. You would think it would be the primary focus when designing a water cooler. Unpacking, testing coolers, and repacking them to return is not fun, so you can imagine how upset I was the first 3 times. However this ended up being the best purchase I made last year and has been running 11 months strong so far. I have read some reviews indicating a chance of trouble on the horizon but so far it's working the same. I did order it when it was 100 higher than the current price so that's upsetting but no way to get that 100 back now. I also find it odd the out-of-the-box height for most water coolers is just a bit low for my height. I use an Avalon stand that I initially bought for the Avalon water cooler before returning it. It works well enough not to wobble for this Igloo and brings it to the height desired. I would still be careful not to accidentally push it as the feet don't line up and lock in as it would with a same brand water cooler. I have it next to wall to reduce the chance of it being knocked over. A corner would be even better. I got my 3 5 gallon jugs at a local grocery store, already filled, but I refill them at Publix. I think you can buy the 5 gallon jugs already empty if you don't want to buy them filled to save a couple bucks from a hardware store or maybe here on Amazon but I choose this route. I replace the 5 gallon jugs every 6mo - 1 yr because I get worried about bacteria maybe starting to grow but it's possibly overly cautious. The reusable caps for the jugs I got on here as well. I don't use a subscription refill service because I feel like those are a rip off, at that point I'd rather just buy individual plastic bottles of water. I also don't have a place outside my apartment I can leave them and not worry about them getting blown away or stolen. Also the staircase to the upstairs apartments is right next to my door so there's no where to put it without blocking that. Overall, works as a good solution. As a cancer patient I personally go through 6 cases (consisting of 40 bottles each case) of water a month, add my son, and it’s double that. I added up that I am spending about $75 a month on bottled water. We have a Watermill Express that dispenses purified water refills at $2.00 for a 5 gallon jug. It will be exponentially cheaper using a dispenser. This was easy to set up. Took about 30 minutes for the water to begin dispensing hot and ice cold water. We found the box to be damaged both top and bottom; on opening it by lifting it up off the item, there was water on the dispenser. Where it came from was not identifiable. Dried off, it was set up and plugged in. We have no reference as to how it will work or why there was water visible and able to be felt along the machine BEFORE and as the box was removed. According to the tracking information, the Igloo was sent to Simi Valley and then up to Ventura and then was sent from there to Santa Barbara and back to Simi Valley via USPS.     • Self cleaning - hot/cold water
So far, this cooler has been great. The water on the hot side does come out Hot! However, it does mention that in the directions. I like my hot drinks hot so for me, it's perfect! The cold is nice and chilly. The feature I really like is that a 2 quart pitcher will fit on the plate so you can fill it instead of having to fill a cup and pour it into the pitcher as is the case with most coolers. Well done Igloo!! The nightlight is also a nice little feature, it's always on so you can always find your way. The tubing system is a bit different than my last machine, instead of just a straight stick tube to the bottom of the bottle, this one curves along the bottom, much nicer because you actually empty the entire bottle before replacing it. Our last machine lasted about 15 years, if I get that long out of this e, I'll consider myself lucky, with the workmanship on this unit so far, I have no doubt that will happen. I'm really impressed at all the little things Igloo thought about when manufacturing this unit and very greatful. This is definitely a good value for the money. A lot easier for aging backs than the top fill unit we had. No more having to lift 35lbs of water jug and aim right and hope not to splash everywhere. The hot option is nice to have. Would definitely recommend
