Cons

  • 🔊 Some users report the pumping sound is relatively noticeable, even continuing slightly after dispensing water.
  • 👎 Criticized for the dispensing nozzle design and placement; they're described as small 'nubs' and positioning cups or bottles accurately can be tricky.
  • 🧩 Some users find the button and light panel confusing, specifically the placement of hot and cold indicators in relation to their corresponding buttons.
  • ⚡ There is a lack of insulation between the different temperature tanks, potentially leading to increased energy consumption.

Should I Buy It?

  • I really like it so far
Style: Dispenser
I'm very happy with this purchase so far. It's a nice looking cooler that fit perfectly in the space I have. The temperature of the cold water is perfect for me although it may be too cold for some. I've only used the hot water once, for a cup of noodles, and it worked great and I'm looking forward to using it for hot tea this winter. The "room temperature" water is actually pretty cold, but it might be because I don't keep the hot water switched on unless I need it. If you want room temp water you can use the "hot water" with the heat turned off. The only issue that I've had so far is it can be a little noisy sometimes, but you can turn off both switches at night and it's perfectly quiet. I saw reviews that mentioned taller water bottles didn't fit under the machine so I bought the shorter of the 2 options that Walmart had and it fit fine (American Maid 5 gal) but I think there's plenty of space for the square stackable bottle they have. 09/18/24 - I've only had the machine a week and I'm aware of the other complaints I've seen others have. If I have any issues I'll be sure to update this review but so far it's all good. 10/07/2024 - After a month of use I'll still give this machine 5 stars but there are a couple of things that bug me. First is that the noise can get really annoying sometimes. It's okay when it's a consistent noise, but sometimes it's an inconsistent vibration and almost sounds like the machine is struggling. I have the machine close to my desk so I have to turn it off at times so I can get some work done. Luckily, the water stays cold for quite a while with the cold switch off. I turn it off at night and the water is still pretty cold when I grab a glass in the morning. The second thing that bothers me is the "water low" warning light. It's a really bright red flashing light that you can't turn off. No big deal unless you have the machine in your bedroom and only have one jug like I do. I have to unplug the machine to get any sleep. I'll probably have to void my warranty to disconnect this feature. 01/28/2025 - I've had the cooler for almost 5 months now and am still very happy with the purchase. No further issues other than the previously mentioned issues. I've used the hot water feature many times for tea and cocoa this winter and it works great. I live near one of the fires in LA and it was so nice to have this dispenser when we weren't able to drink our tap water. I can definitely say that I recommend this purchase and will update if I have any major issues in the coming months. 06/26/2025 - 9 Months in and no further issues with this machine. I figured out how to avoid the horrible red "empty" light without unplugging the machine. You can hear when the machine is sucking up air and if you open the door quickly enough, the empty light will not turn on. You just have to keep it open until you refill the jug. ... show more

  • Nice looking unit, but runs almost constantly.

I returned an Avalon that was leaking., and replaced it with this Brio unit. The Brio is nicer looking, but it seems to run more than the Avalon. Using more electricity????

  • Great brand, good investment
Style: Dispenser
I've been shopping for a water cooler for months and finally pulled the trigger. I made the right decision with this one. It was easy to install and the water flows easily. I would have loved to get one with ice dispenser but the investment was a bit high now that I am retired. I would recommend this brand to anyone considering purchasing a water cooler. I refuse to drink the water out of my faucet and was tired of hauling water bottles in my house, storing them and then having to dispose of them. ... show more

  • Without a doubt, this is the best one I have had.
Style: Dispenser
I spent about $300 on a fancy water cooler at Costco that made ice. Within two months I returned it. It was horrible. I looked on Amazon and found the Brio, and I am extremely happy with it. The water is very cold, has a fast flow, it is quiet, and there is no plastic taste like the one I returned. The Brio is high quality for a lower cost. I am very happy with this water cooler. ... show more

  • So much better than a top load water cooler
Style: Dispenser
I bought this as a gift for my 60yo mother in law because she was complaining about always stuggling to replace the 5 gallon jug on top of the water cooler because of her husband and son being lazy ;). (I don't blame her, those things are heavy)... she absolutely loved it. It's so easy to load and it works without any issues. ... show more

  • Research before you buy Research before you buy

I decided to give Brio a try after my Avalon A3 dispenser went out just a few days past the warranty period. This was delivered to my door step by UPS on Sept 22, 2023. The box was upside down, so it is obvious they didn't pay attention to the box about being kept upright. Hoping nothing would be damaged, I opened the box and hooked up the first water jug. To date, we have used 4 jugs (5 gallons each) and everything is working great. Do I like it more than the Avalon A3 I had previously? No. I think this one is great for the price but I sacrificed key features with choosing this model and brand. PUMP: The sound from the pump is obnoxious. It continues after you dispense water. I have this in my kitchen/dining area that is open to the living room, so if someone uses the dispenser then you have to turn up the TV volume. It is really that loud. SPACE FOR CUP: I drink water from insulated cups and I find most of my cups will not fit under the nozzle. If I paid more attention to the dimensions, I would have never considered the Brio as a purchase option. HEAT: The back of this unit produces a great deal of heat. I have left a gap of at least 6 inches from the wall to help circulate air flow to reduce the amount of hear the motor or pump is putting out. NOZZLES: Maybe I should say nubs because that is how I would describe them. At times, you can miss the cup because you can't really see where the water is coming out until it starts to flow. LIGHT: Another detail that I thought is standard with water dispensers that Brio does not have. I enjoyed the night light feature with my Avalon A3 so I could go to the dispenser without turning on any lights. INDICATOR LIGHTS: This is the most confusing and frustrating part to this dispenser. In my photo, the led light is on for the cold water but it is directly below the hot water nozzle area. When the pump kicks on randomly through the day, this light also comes on. The next light (not on currently) is for the hot water, which is to the left of the icon. The final light (not currently on) is to alert you to change the jug. I am adding a second photo to show both LED lights are on, and this is when I went to fill a smaller cup. Please note, nobody has used this dispenser for at least 6 hours. Why are the indicators going on and off, with the pump going on and off. COLD-ROOM TEMP-HOT I like the option to turn off the hot water on the back of the unit. When my toddler nephews come visit, I can turn it off so they don't figure out how to dispense the hot water. The room temp water is slightly colder than I expected. The cold water is cold, but it could be better. My neighbor used my dispenser and asked why my water isn't cold. I guess her dispenser gives colder water but now I am used to this cold temp setting. I do wish there was an adjustment to make it colder. Final thoughts: I will use this model because the hassle to send it back is not worth it. It works, just not up to my expectations and that is partly my fault for not investigating more reviews and reading the limited feature section. Brio can do better by adding more space to fit cups, offering a night light with this model, and figure out why the motor is always running. The indicator lights are a direct result of a design not well thought out. NOTE: In my photo, there is an insulated cup that is 6 3/4 inches tall. It is nearly to the top, with maybe a few centimeters to spare to fit under the nubby nozzle. ... show more
