I like this trash can. Yes, it is plastic. But plastic isn't a bad thing unless you think you're buying something else. I don't like metal ones because they dent and then don't bounce back. This is sturdy enough for what it is designed to do. Admitted, I probably can't use it as a step stool, but a kid could. The color is perfect for my oil rubbed bronze decor. I like this because wits plastic bit looks nice and substantial, almost looks metal. Our old metal one was getting rusted up and smelly.... so I knew I wanted a visually nice plastic version I could clean w bleach. This is perfect and since plastic .... easily cleaned!

Great price, good look. As others have mentioned, it's not metal - which is a good thing. It looks like metal and is a good match for our "oiled bronze" look faucets and "espresso" finish wood work, but being plastic it doesn't corrode or dent easily.

I ordered both this oval trash can as well as a round one. Funny, they're PLASTIC, but they don't have that extreme shine to them, so they actually look more expensive than they are! The oval one works well in the tight space where the toilet is separated from the rest of the bathroom.
