I’ve had them running for a few weeks now in 14 gal cubes. Performing as hoped. I like the small, inconspicuous size with adjustable flow. It’s quiet, easy to move around and flexible with how to use it. Its way better than a sponge filter for the same cost in that it provides biomedia balls in addition to sponge and has good surface flow without overpowering my fish. I only give it four stars because it’s hard to open it up to clean the sponge. Without being able to afford a canister filter for every tank, this is an excellent choice. ... show more

This filter works good after a cleaning but I'm at the point where I need to clean it every few days or it'll drastically reduce it's flow to the point where the aeration doesn't even work. The filter sponge is rather small and due to how fast it clogs up I think it's choking out what little bacteria it can house. I think a normal sponge filter would be better than this. I bought this a month ago at a reasonable price but I've already had to upgrade it. I only have a 2 inch angel, 2 GBRs and 10 or so Shrimp in a planted tank. ... show more

When I first got it i thought it was pretty good for the price. It worked very well right out of the box. But, now its been about a month and the unit stopped working. So, i guess you get what you pay for. Spend the extra money and get a better unit.

Output is actually surprising, as with most of these smaller internal filters it will need to be removed for cleaning and service so make sure to mount it in an easy-to-access spot. Pump runs VERY quiet, spray bar actually is quiet too - I'd use it in the bedroom, even. Time will tell how it holds up, but it seems to be quite solidly built so for now, it's getting 5 stars, especially due to the output, design, and price. I put this small filter in my 10 gallon aquarium. It doesn’t take up much space, but it moves a lot of water. I like that the filter is black with no other markings to make it stick out in the tank. Because it is in the tank there is no risk of it overflowing, and it pulls water from multiple sides. The media that comes with this filter is sufficient. I like that it has a coarse sponge as the mechanical filtration. You could cut it in half and add a denser sponge to create a two stage, but I’m not sure it would be worth it. The ceramic media for biological filtration are a nice touch. My favorite part of the filter is that I can use the spray bar and keep the lid on my tank. I have a larger filter in my 20 gallon long, but I have to rest it in the gravel some. Overall, I’m very happy with this filter and would recommend it. ... show more

This filter is very difficult to open and clean. Works ok. The company contacted me and gave me a full refund, so they have very good customer service. I added a star for that.
