this little powerhead rocks. with 5 modes to choose from and an auto shut off light sensor that shuts off the modes at night and gives a constant 30 gph flow for the night mode, its truly a great little powerhead for a nano or grab two of the for a bigger tank. they have excellent modes, and they do create excellent gyres and kick up the debris for the back corners and hard to reach areas of your tank. the design is nice too. all in all ive had this powerhead set up for months with zero issues. hygger makes great stuff. i use the powerhead on the lowest setting and the single pulse mode meaning it is the lowest of the lowest settings and power and it still makes excellent gyres. use after a feeding to kick up the extra food that settles to the ground so the fish and coral and grab it and whatever is left gets sucked up by the filter. ive been in the reef tank hobby for over ten years and i will always use hygger for the price and quality of their powerheads. ... show more

Died the first day. Not enough clearance between the housing and fan blade. You can hear the fan rubbing the housing, then faults out with an error code. Motor runs well with housing removed. Poor QC.

I cannot say enough GOOD things about their customer service!!! The unit I originally received worked fine but had an overly loud “whine” that changed with motor speed, it was enough to hear over the television. Not only did the customer service team address my issue immediately and was extremely responsive, they were so very kind and courteous! They sent a replacement unit to remedy the issue and I have had no issues with the replacement. ... show more

This a great wave maker, I bought this to replace my Jeboa SCP-70. I also liked the Jeboa, but I didn't like that it relied on WiFi. The Hygger is much more simple to set up, no WiFi connection needed. Also I read a few reviews complaining about the Hygger failing with error code 04, this also happened with my Hygger. It was also making a slight a grinding sound. I remedied this by resetting the the pump. The pump, like protein skimmers need break in time. Usually it only takes one reset for the pump to work without getting a error code 4. Also the slight grinding sound dissipated after the reset. ... show more

i have one on each end of my 125g reef. using setting 4 (random) they are grate, both on the same side but for me. setting 5 is the best, pump on left end sends a wave across the top of my tank pushing water down and back along the bottom, turns off just as the water on the bottom starts to come back out on the left end. then the right side pump turns on sending the wave back across the tank down and back across the bottom giving a wave serge effect. LPS love random and its grate but they seam to love this also. i feel the back and forth surge is more natural. i torches are reaching out both directions with sweepers though so keep that in mind. ... show more

    • Threw an error in less than 5 minutes
Not impressed at all. Less than 5 minutes in my tank and this pump was throwing an error that translates to the pump is clogged and the impeller won't turn. Brand new out of the box and my tank had just been cleaned so no chance of it.beinf gunked up yet.

There are several features on this wave maker that make it worth the purchase. It automatically pauses for feeding with the press of a button for 10 min and comes back on. There is also a night mode that slows the speed of the pump at night. I will say that it kept shutting off when I first got it. Amazon sent a replacement, but the one I had started working and has been great since. I ended up keeping the replacement for one of my other tanks. Great purchase! ... show more
