I purchased a similar shade cover on Amazon that was about the same price as this one about a year or so ago. It was much sturdier and held up to the strong winds and sun that we get in our area. One of the metal rings finally gave out so it was time to replace it. Unfortunately, this one lasted less than a week! The metal rings started tearing in only a couple days - and we didn’t have much more than a breeze either! The old cover is still in better shape than this one is now! Bought 2 thinking it would work great for one of my dog kennels and the chicken coop we just built. I put it on the chicken coop tonight and it was cheaper quality material than I was expecting, since I have one very similar on a dog kennel that I bought last year. Well this one was already starting to fray and trying to rip as I was unrolling it and trying to put it up on the coop. I'm scared now to even try putting up the one I got for the 2nd dog kennel I have. Another thing I noticed as well was the zip ties that come with it where just shoved in the bag and they fell out when I opened it. I almost didn't see them when they fell on the ground. Their was also only 6 zip ties so you either need better zip ties or have more on hand just incase. ... show more

The tarp itself is good and provides great shade, but it comes with cheap flimsy zip ties that broke immediately (the first day!), leaving the tarp hanging in the wind. We had to go to Home Depot and get some thicker higher quality zip ties to secure it better. Can be an OKAY purchase if you are willing to also buy different zip ties when the crappy ones it comes with break (and they will). ... show more

I used the for a 10x10 dog kennel that I transformed into a chicken run. At first, the product seemed to fit correctly, and work well. Now that I’ve had it up for a month and a half it seems to have shrunk. All the edges are piling and leaving big gaps between each zip tie. So there are huge gaps were there is no shade and where the chickens can get out, or where predators can get in. It seems to shrink and lose shape more everyday, so I would say it’s not very sturdy material. ... show more

Wish it had better attachments than zip ties, but it survived the hail storm and strong winds, had to cut the zip ties so the weight of the hail stones would tear it apart, but the rings seems to be holding up. Used 2 ratchet straps under it to hold up so the dog kennel door wouldn't keep catching on it and tied some zip ties around the ratchet straps and through the cover. ... show more

I tie these things on my kennels with wire. Zip ties easily break--don't waste your time with zip ties. These shade panels require patience to put on . . .. to get it even distance from all sides. I recommend a bar across the top of the kennel at least at the midpoint--underneath the shade cloth, to keep your kennel from being pulled out of shape. I like these as they keep the Sun off of the dogs when it's hot outside, block light rain, and let heavy rain fall through--so that you don't get a swimming pool on top of your kennels--such as tarps would create. ... show more

I had my last shade cover for 5+ years. This one is about a month old and the grommets have already torn out in a couple of places. We are going to be lucky to get through one summer with this one. Also we had to replace all the zip ties because they're just cheap. Definitely not highly recommended.

This is NOT 10 FT BY 10FT. I just bought the 10ft by 10ft kennel and ordered this to go with it. Unfortunately it was only about 9ft by 9ft, leaving Huge gaps. The material is already breaking and fraying due to having to pull it so tight. I'm pretty upset to say the least with this purchase.
