Love the idea of having two separate bins. We ended up using the larger bin for recycling as almost all of our trash is such. It fits perfectly in the space we needed it to. I struggled with the bags at first till I mastered how to put them in. I know that sounds silly but the typical size trash bag that should go in there seems bigger. You have to singe the top and pull the extra to the front and place under the rubber piece to keep from sticking out the top. It’s a compact trash can so even pushing down all trash and when it’s time to pull due to being full, once removed there is still a lot that can go in the trash bag which is a little frustrating because it seems waist full. it is definitely not a $100 trash can. Price point should be lowered. I’ll keep because I don’t want to mess with returning.

I just moved in a new property which has an open kitchen connected to the living room. I want to have a trash bin with a lid so that we won't be able to see/smell the trash directly from the living room meantime it also looks elegant enough as a “furniture" I started with searching keyword as "stainless trash can with lid" and then I realized the trash can with dual compartments will be more convenient to me so that in the end, I found this product. The Price is the best among all those "Stainless Steel Dual Compartment Recycle Trash Can" with similar capacity It is beautiful and easy to use, it is large enough so that we don't need to change it everyday... I was sceptical getting another receptacle for trash and recycling but our daughter encouraged us to try. Because we have a large family we are just using this as recycling only. The size of this one fit perfect at the end of my counter. I like it's got two receptacles so we can empty one and have the other. It also has a great soft close lid!

I purchased this after I needed to replace my much loved Simple Human garbage can. Love the size of this can, fits perfectly in my small kitchen. My issue is that I haven’t even had it a month yet and the inside of the lid is rusted. Very disappointing and I would not recommend this can.

I was using a medium-sized basket in my laundry room to hold recycle items other than paper. Carrying the basket to the bins in the garage worked. The stuff in the basket didn't look neat unless it was emptied several times a day. It was good exercise. I saw this with 2 separate bins, one for paper and the other for plastic and glass. The plan was to place this between the washer and laundry room sink. We needed vertical, not horizontal, a thinner container with the pedal in front. I immediately learned a paper bag does not fit in the blue bin. The bin is deep but narrow. If used for paper, the contents will be emptied into a paper bag on garbage day or more frequently. Catalogs and magazines I stack and tie together. The black bin does hold a large laundry detergent container and several jars. The dreaded, impossible to open plastic containers used in the produce department fit, too. I unpacked the box, removed the wrapping, stood the container upright and pressed the pedal. It worked. If you want the lid to stay up, let the lid close a bit then gently push it to the full open position. The blue bin easily lifted out. The black bin did not. I called the phone number on the card that was in the box. I learned this phone number is customer service to replace parts. The young woman knew nothing about the products! We all have bad days. I caught her on hers. An unpleasant and unhelpful person. I called Amazon! Great service! Did I want to replace it, return it for a full refund? Do you want to try it for a few days and then decide? I saw the black bin was stuck below the rubber that runs along the entire top of the container to hold a plastic bag in place. The black bin was stuck!!! No tools could be used to avoid risk of damaging the container, cut the rubber or scratch the metal. You need to work around the perimeter of the black bin to slip it over the rubber band. Several sore, pinched fingers plus patience resolved the problem. I placed the large plastic bag that the container was wrapped in during shipping inside the black bin to keep it clean. If needed, washing the bins with a hose will be easy. If you don't have a hose, stand each bin in the shower. If you have long arms you can wipe them with a disinfectant wipe and reach the bottom. Is the container costly? Yes. Could I find online or in a store anything better? No. If you have a large family, this may be too small. When walking into the laundry room from the garage the appearance is greatly improved. Better functionality, too.

I wanted the trash part bigger than the recycling part, because our trash always fills up faster - all of this, yet still needed to be a size that fit in my small kitchen. Opening the lid using a pedal for hands free operation was also a must. This trash can met all of my needs, and at a reasonable price!
