Great Rack for Quick & Easy Loading – Over 5,000 Miles Driven This is a great tray-type rack for easy and quick installation and loading of bikes. I’ve owned it for three years now, and logged over 5,000 miles hauling our bikes from New Jersey to South Carolina for beach vacations each summer, as well as tons of local day trips. I purchased the tray-type Hollywood 4 Bike Rack to replace a Thule crossbar-type 4 bike rack because it had gotten to the point where all three of my family’s bikes had slanted or were completely lacking top crossbars, so all three bikes needed a crossbar adapter, and also have seats and handlebars heights adjusted to fit neatly on the rack. It was upwards of 30-45 minutes to get our bikes prepped and loaded each time—which was fine for a long-haul trip to a beach week, but annoying for a day trip ride. So, quick and secure loading of bikes of different sizes and frame types was a key factor for me. I ride a modern hardtail Mountain Bike with a low crossbar and chunky tires 27.5 in tires, my wife has a vintage Y-frame comfort cruiser with thinner 26 in wheels, and my daughter has just moved from a 24 inch kids MTB (pictured) to a 27.5 inch Trek hybrid city/trail Y-frame over the past year, and it only takes three to four minutes total to load each bike and tighten the wheel and post straps. Regardless of frame type and wheel dimensions, the three straps just lock it in swiftly and securely. Adding the mast straps adds another minute, and for long-distance trips I’ll add a couple bike locks as well. Unloading time is equally quick, and honestly, it has made day trips easier, and it is so nice after a long drive to unload so much faster than it was with my old Thule rack. Initial assembly took about 45 minutes and was easy enough. Instructions were clear and to the point. I check the bolts and fasteners every couple of months, and especially before long-distance drives, and it has held up just fine over the past three years. The included hitch mount tool works fine and has all bolt sizes included (plus a bottle opener), but I usually pack a ratchet wrench as well for fastest tightening/loosening. I can open the trunk hatch of my BMW X3 with the unloaded rack in flat/travel position with the front post connector folded down. I can’t open the hatch w/ the rack in the up/folded position. It takes a minute or so to swap from flat to folded, as this is a bolt-type mechanism (with a hand-grip) that needs to be loosened, removed, and then reinstalled into the other mounting hole once the rack is flipped up. Rack position swap was definitely quicker with the Thule rack, but that’s honestly the only thing I miss after having made the switch. Even with our three full-size adult bikes loaded, there is still a good rear-view mirror sight line, and the wheels are just visible behind the car in the side view mirrors. It leans against a wall in the garage when not in use, and is easy enough for me to lift and carry to install myself (52yo M, 5’10” 180 pounds, somewhat active.) My biggest (and probably only) negative: The included locking mechanism for the hitch pin doesn’t feel sturdy enough to be a real theft deterrent. Instead, I loop a chain through the D-Ring on the hitch assembly and through the rack to secure it to the SUV for long-distance and overnight travel, and I also lock the bikes with cables, and those cables to this chain as a highly visible theft deterrent. Overall, as I’ve just completed another 1700 mile journey this weekend, I’m still very pleased with the ease of use, durability, speed of installation and ease of loading/unloading of the bikes. I highly recommend this rack.

(Updated after driving with it) Got this today and put it together, then loaded some bikes just to check it out. Assembly was fairly easy but I credit that to having a socket set and ratcheting wrench set. If I had tried to put this together with the “tools” they provided, I’d have been out there for twice as long. The directions say to attach the bike trays to the frame first, then put it on the vehicle’s hitch receiver. I disagree. Mount it to the receiver with it on the reclined position first. Then put the trays on and start all 8 bolts and nuts. Next, set it to the upright position to tighten them all. That’s it! Drop it back to the reclining position. Follow the instructions for loading starting with the first bike handlebars on the driver’s side then alternating. As it says in the description, the post straps turn to align with your bikes post and they slide up and down on the rack so you select where on the post it lines up by just moving your bike front and back a bit. This is WAY more stable than my lift gate mounted hanging bike carrier. With the locking hitch pin and a simple cable lock through the bike frames and the rack, I would feel comfortable enough parking this at a store or maybe even a hotel parking lot (maybe). Response to other reviews: One reviewer stated this did not work if your bike has water bottle holders. Not true; all three of the bikes I loaded have bottle holders. Put the strap through the holder or move the bike front or back to use a different part of the frame to wrap around. One reviewer said he did not like the bolt used instead of the standard pin. This I kind of agree with, but the bolt does secure it nicely and comes with both a simple pin option and a lock option. You cannot use the pin and the lock together. I have a locking pin with a more secure mechanism I’d rather be using but happy it does have its own pin lock. I suppose you could take it to a machine shop and have the pin hole drilled out if you feel that strongly about it. Will try to update if I remember after actually driving with it. UPDATE: I did drive with it today. Total of about 60 miles freeway driving at speeds up to 90mph. The receiver mount works exactly as you would want it to. It’s stable and quiet and you don’t even notice it. The bikes sit high enough to keep an eye on from the rearview mirror, but don’t impede from the side. Putting it on and taking it off we’re not significantly hampered by having to use the bolt instead of a standard hitch pin. However, I do plan on buying a spare socket wrench and socket to just keep in the car for the purpose.

Just took this rack for a test run this weekend, 10 miles of highway. There were no issues. If you have any mechanical knowledge whatsoever, putting this rack together is a breeze. It fit well and seamlessly into the receiver on my 4runner. The bolt insured a tight hold. I am ready to take my trek wherever now. Yes it does not tilt backwards so you can access the tailgate with a bike on the rack. Still for the price and if you’re looking for a quality rack, pull the trigger on this one. I can look beyond the tilting though. One more thing. Kuat and Thule racks are huge. This is far more compact and easier to move and it won’t take up as much room when you take it off your vehicle.

I have searched, purchased and returned multiple bike racks (those were not platform racks, they were hanging bike hitch mount racks) and this is THE hitch rack for you if you are searching for a rack that can actually fit 4 bikes AND is easy to manage. Hitch bike racks that hang bikes will make your life miserable when dealing with the bikes. This platform rack is simple and secure. The PROS: - Very reasonably priced - Easy to assemble - Sturdy (in the mount and in how it positions the bikes) - Tilts up and secures when no bikes are on it - Has a lock at its base (and you can get a security cable that integrates to lock bikes within the rack but you need to purchase this separately, it's only like $15) The CONS: - You can not open your trunk when bikes are on this rack. - Has a pin you need to unscrew to tilt up/down (easy to do, but not as simple as a button or lever). This is a totally minor thing... just saying as that could be an issue for some. PROS totally outweigh the cons, especially for the price. If you need a hitch-based rack for 4 or more bikes, this is the way to go if you want something that can easily be put on and off, it's surprisingly light weight and easy to store. Thule and Yakima are HEAVY, overpriced and will NOT fit 4 bikes without a fight each time you put them on. Cheaper ones like Allen are light and manageable, but again, are an even tougher struggle with your bikes. That said... if you're only looking to rack 2 bikes, a hanging rack would be sufficient, no need for a platform, but get a 4 bike rack and not a 2 bike rack.

Warning Long Read. I am 66 y.o female, 5 ft 1". This is my first rack and first eBike. My eBike is the model "Extreme"by Epic Power bikes, foldable, thick frame ( had 2 inch bar near chain to frame clamp on as only choice with rack), 4" fatty tires, weighs 66 pounds. BUT, it worked!! eBike is a beast and it NOT step thru its a step over. The ramp was a breeze. I did not even need to use the battery to help walk it up (feature on my eBike). I was afraid I was too short to balance this beast bike and have use of my arms to clamp the frame without help all the while balancing bike on ramp/rack. My fatty tires barely stayed in the ramp channel but the ramp is so awesome I never lost control. There was 1 problem I had after I took my new eBike in for service with this rack. The lever handle near bottom fell out of position causing an 18 wheeler to horn me and pointed to my hitch. Clueless I went on with my day. When I got home, 10" screw was hanging out of hitch unable to 100% dislodge. What the instructions failed to say was there was a loop at the end of this screw and it has to have the trailer lock pin threaded thru it. Somehow some way during install we turned level couple times and cinged (so we thought) but it worked its way out causing the bike to rattle and wobble bad. Called customer service tech support and had help without waiting. The gent told me about the loop at the end of that long lever bolt needed to line up with lock pin hole. Problem resolved. Wobble gone! This rack let me drop my tailgate 3/4 no problem. Santa Cruz wears it well! I cheated mostly and watched YoutTube videos for unbox and install and even those videos did NOT address that loop at the end of the lever bolt be lined up with trailer hitch pin. It is step 6 in their paper instructions and NO mention. My tailgate is only 54 inches wide, and I checked out Thule and several others (I needed ez ramp) regretting I bought a bike before I researched a hitch. The Hollywood Destination E hitch was the only 1 to check off ALL my boxes. Check - Don't need a 2nd person to help load and unload 70lb eBike with fat tires. Ramp is brilliant Check - Fold up keep rack installed on car to fit in my small screened carport and be able to walk behind it. $699 price? I had no choice as I had no 2nd contender that checked all the boxes. To me safety above all else. Nobody needs an eBike either and we pay the price. This "Destination" rack was the only eBike rack that relieved my anxiety and concerns . If little 66 y.o ... 5 foot nothing woman can assemble this and load/unload beast eBike with no F-bombs, anyone can. My only negative which I solved for $5 at Home Depot is the 2nd strap on for my front 4" tire is short. My having only 1 bike frame spot 2" bar to rack clamp the 2nd safety strap on front tire was rendered useless by few inches. I can strap 2 of the 3 straps which for short distances was fine. Yes, with tons of time hitting and missing playing with bite clamp & straps, I did get all 3 to work. But it cost me 20 minutes. When picking my bike up, shop could not get 3rd strap on. So, got silicone rubber 24" strap with alum buckle and prob solved. I am not sure if Hollywood sells longer tire straps. I bought eBike on a whim because of price before buying a rack. I assumed the rack was the easy part. I was 85% convinced I was going to have to resell the ebike. No way could I dead lift the bike on a rack. If I can't navigate a rack there no reason to keep it. I bought the ebike for beach. A ramp solution was my only choice for a vehicle tailgate 54" long. Harbor freight Haulmaster 4000 was like 76" long not counting ramp. So if you research racks with ramps for a car, choices are few. IMHO, the others with flimsy ramps can't handle fat tire or the ramp incline to severe. If it was not for this Hollywood May 2022 release of this "destination E" rack for ebikes, I would have had to sell this ebike. THANK YOU HOLLWOOD RACKS !!!!!!!

Great Rack, I have had all sorts of racks over the years. It affordable and simple to use. The rachet straps offer nice flexibility based on your bike. 3 points of contact. Including the strap on the upright bar the twist/clicks based on the geometry of your bike, I have 29er and the trays are in a good spot. You can really tighten down the hitch receiver bolt with the provided wrench. I hate bouncy trailer racks,this one doesn't bounce. It folds up nicely and the hatch clears (2 bike carrier) Only thing it doesn't do is tilt when the bikes are on the back.The construction is solid and it was well designed. Also the whole unit is light weight so it isn't a struggle to take it off/on.

Wanted a tray style bike carrier after having a hanging style and never being happy with it. Wow, I love the Destination 2 rack - it carries your bikes high so no bottoming out on elevation changes, it carries them far enough from the vehicle to prevent damage to both the bike and vehicle, and it carries them securely with only one point of contact to the bike frame, and that point of contact is soft to prevent paint damage. The carrier is extremely light, easy to carry with one hand, yet it is stiff and strong by being well-engineered. I had the rack together in about 15 minutes using the included tools and it took me about ten minutes to figure out peddle orientation on our two bikes to prevent them from making contact to the rack or other bike. I DID have to remove my bicycle pump as that spot was where one of the frame tube clamps needed to go, so if you have a frame-mounted air pump or drink holder you may have to move it. The rack had minimal movement on the road and getting the bikes off and put back on took a couple minutes at most. No need to carry extra bungees or straps, this rack and the included strap (which is a just a safety net type of thing) hold your bike very securely. While folded up I can use my backup camera and still see where I'm headed. About customer service - I called the 800 number because I THOUGHT I had an issue with the hitch bolt lock in that it wouldn't come off the hitch bolt. It seems that you really have to pull hard to get the lock off, but it will get easier to remove with repeated use - a rep called me back within the hour and informed me that my lock was indeed fine, and that I didn't need a replacement as I thought I did. It seems to be a common question from customers, so if you buy this keep in mind that the lock is stiff to use at first, but it is indeed working as it should. If you're considering a tray style carrier I would recommend this one - it's light, well-engineered and the company has real people in a US-based office who you can talk to if you ever have an issue.
