I bought these boots for a 2-week winter trip to Europe, and thank Dolly Parton I did! They are comfortable, totally water proof, have excellent lugged soles, and kept my feet surprisingly warm. I wore them every single day of the trip, netting between 10-25k steps in 25-35' F weather, often on icy and snowy sidewalks, including walking up to and down from Neuschwanstein Castle... in a blizzard. In short, these boots were a lifesaver. After reading some of the more critical reviews, I was pleasantly surprised by how supple and cushy the boots were. Even so, I did make an effort to break the boots in before my trip by wearing them on my daily walks of 2-3 miles. I'm very glad I did that, as it helped me understand how the boots work with my feet and also loosened up the leather a bit. While on the trip, I always made sure to put blister bandaids on my pinky toes (most shoes rub on my outer toes, not just these) and a couple of jumbo bandaids around my ankles where the tops of the boots hit. After that, I was good to go. I must have tried 10-15 pairs of boots before my trip. These blew every single other pair out of the water.

The more you wear these the more you love them! These boots are perfect travel boots. Easy to slip on and off at the airport and on planes when you need a solid boot that you can walk in all day in all weather. I wore these all over Korea in November in heavy ran and snow and my feet stayed dry. They are not a winter boot but even in wet snow and mid 20's my feet were warm. They also seem to breath even though they are waterproof on the lower part. I have worn them at least 3 to 4 days a week and they have aged well and always comfortable. They do loosen up a bit as you wear them but no major break in was needed and I have super tender feet. The best part is these work well as a nice casual boot that can hold up for miles of walking each day. They really saved me as a good travel boot and now an every day casual boot to wear with jeans. I would buy another pair but these seem like they will hold up for the long haul. ONE YEAR LATER: DEC. 2018 - I still love these boots and just wanted to check to make sure these were still available. My boots are holding up great but the thought of wearing them out one day makes me want to order another pair for the future. In the winter I wear good wool socks and in the summer, lighter weight socks. I've worn these from Asia to South Dakota, Texas to Tennessee. They work year round and clean up well, the bottom soles are holding up very well considering I wear them constantly. I hope Ariat keeps these in their line!

Where do I begin. I bought these shoes and they arrived the day I was leaving for London. I wore them in the plane to “break” them in. Walked 8 miles around London, seeing the Tower of London and tower bridge and all for 5 days. No problems what so ever. Super cute as well. Here’s where it gets good. We moved on to our Scotland travels. Walked Edinburgh and was comfy up and down. Then, we look a spontaneous HIKE. And yes I wore the boots. 3 miles in and still smiling. Even highland Coo approved. Told my husband mid hike these were the best boots I’d ever purchased. Muddy to clean they are stylish and durable. Buy them.
