Price was right. The large hinges were perfect size for my barn style door. My door was heavier than average in that 2x4's sandwich 1/2 sheathing to create the door. The hinges were plenty strong enough to get the job done with the heavy door. At first I was a little concerned because the hinges were made of metal that were a litle thinner than I wanted. However, it turned out to be plenty strong. It has nice powder coated paint, looks attractive and I expect it to be a durable finish. The way I built the door is that I actually added the 2x4 stiffeners into the wall as I was building the wall. Added more 2x4s to hold the door in place. Then I cut out the door from the wall. While the door was being held in place by the temporary 2x4s, I attached the hinges in place, then, removed the temporary 2x4s and the door did not sag but maybe 1/8 of an inch at most.

I really don't know how to approach this. This is the sixth set of these I have purchased. So, obviously, I am okay with the hinges. But, let's get real about the screws! The supplied screws were little #6 X 3/4 inch screws like you would use on kitchen cabinet hinges - NOT heavy duty 10 inch barn style hinges. The heads did not quite fall through the holes in the hinges, but it would not have taken hardly any effort at all to pull them through. They should have been at least #12 X 1 1/4 inches. I don't know what they were thinking.

Just for ordinary everyday use the hings seem mostly okay. However, they do seem thin and may not hold up to extensive use.

I ordered the 12" version of these hinges after reading so many positive reviews and getting a great purchase price. I inspected the hinges upon arrival and immediately found that all 6 hinges had approximately 1/16" of slop between the hinge pin and hinge barrel. There is a need to understand how much movement that play in the hinge pivot point translates to at the other end of a door or gate (the wider the door/gate the greater the up/down movement). If you decide to use these hinges be sure to account for the hinge pin slop when installing them. Otherwise the far end of your gate/door will hang lower than you expected. I returned this item since I was building a high quality shed for a family member. I ended up using the Everbuilt 3-1/2" Tee Hinge from Home Depot for this shed project.
