  • Great quality.
Size: 12' x 24' x 9' Color: Gray
I"ve had it up for a little over 3 weeks and we've had a wide range of weather in the north east so far. Lots of windy days. Its pretty sturdy doesn't really rock at all in the winds but only had around 45ish mph wind occasionally. I would say anchoring is key for these shelters. I ended up making a base of wood for it to lag bolt into using 4x4 lumber into a box around the bottom for the legs to sit on. Used 30 inch augers to tie everything down with ratchets and a combination of stainless steel braided cables I use it mainly to wash my car under after putting in some rubber garage flooring. It is kind of labor intensive to do if its your first build however. I did it mostly solo and it took me a few days to set up. Mostly due to the ground being so hard and having to level out the wood base. I imagine it would be a lot faster if you don't try to put a wood base for the legs to bolt into though or having level ground. The shipping on this item did take kind of long and was kind of a guessing game at times. But it did come in a little faster then the projected delivery date. I want to say it took about 3 weeks for it to arrive. ... show more

  • Poor instructions, poorly engineered, misaligned parts, poor packaging, poorly factory assembled
Size: 12' x 24' x 11' Color: Green
I usually don't take the time to write reviews, but I believe this product causes me a civic duty to do so. Where to begin??????? I bought this barn style shelter in the 12X24X11 size, with the standard 9 ounce cover material, and paid $1200 plus change. It arrived 3 or 4 days early, which was a welcome surprise. I intend to store my new boat in it. The one positive thing I can say about this shelter is that no parts were missing. By my calculations, this kit consisted on over 725 parts. There was a small handful of extra nuts and bolts left over upon completion. I assembled this with the help of my dad. He was previously an air traffic controller, and I am college educated. In other words, he and I are very capable of reading, understanding, and following technical instructions. In addition, he and I are both skilled craftsmen, and have remodeled homes together, and restored several antique cars together. We are skilled with hand and power tools. It took close to 10 hours to assemble this thing. (That's 10 hours each.) I deducted one star because it took much longer to assemble than is reasonable, as other reviewers stated. I should have paid better attention to other reviews. Much of our time spent was fixing quality problems with the kit. The instructions for this thing are out of order. For instance, the instructions say to fully assemble the frame, then once it is completed and 11 feet in the air, then take it apart to assemble the zippered doors. Ridiculous! Similarly, after installing the cross bars across the bottom of each side of the frame per the instructions, the instructions say to pull the cover over the frame and then remove these bars so that they can be inserted into the "pockets" along the bottom of the cover, only to reinstall these bars a second time. That's just a waste of time for the consumer. I deducted one star because the instructions, as followed, wasted a lot of our time. If the pockets were velcro fastened over these bars instead, we would not have had to take the cross bars apart and reassemble them twice. That probably would have required $5 with of velcro per kit, but would have saved an hour or two of our time. The engineering, especially of the zippered doors, was poor. My dad commented that it was probably completed by a "little kid." The instructions say to take apart the completed frame and place the rope, of which there is none in the kit, under bars of the frame, then reassemble the frame. There was nylon strapping, which I assume was substituted for the missing "rope" in the kit. Instead of taking apart the completed frame, it would have made much more sense to supply plastic buckles for the straps, similar to those found on life jackets. I realize this would have cost Shelterlogic and extra $2, but would have saved me 1.5 hours of hassling with the straps. The "re-engineered" solution was to cut the nylon straps, route them properly, and simply tie the loose ends together with square knots. I deducted one star for careless engineering. As other reviews stated, many of the holes that were factory drilled for the frame were so poorly completed that there was no way all the parts would fit together. My dad and I spent several hours re-drilling holes so that the parts aligned correctly and were then able to be fitted together. I deducted one star for poor quality control. There were several hundred nuts, bolts, and washers (which were substituted for something called a "gasket") in the kit. Specific bolts were required for each assembly task, and all of these were packaged in a big bag with no organization whatsoever. This required us to sort these things before we could begin to make sure we used the correct length for each task. Here is an idea, Shelterlogic! Package all the bolts of a like size in one bag, bolts of a different size in another bag, etc. Granted, this packaging suggestion may cost Shelterlogic 12 cents per kit, but it would have saved a great deal of our time. I deducted one star because the packaging was just sloppy, and was without regard to the end user. Finally, some of the factory assembly of the materials was just poor. The "pockets" on the zippered end doors, and on the cover itself, were glued together with what appeared to be Elmer's school glue. These pockets came apart very easily, and I suspect I will be filing a warranty claim within a few short months when they fail completely. Why Shelterlogic didn't use a quality adhesive, like 3M's 5200, is a mystery to me. Better glue, or sewing of the pockets, probably would have cost Shelterlogic $4 per kit, so it makes no sense that they scrimped here. I deducted one star because saving a few bucks will ultimately cause me, and Shelterlogic, problems down the road. I've run out of stars. In short, this is a very expensive barn shelter that will likely fail early due to corner cutting at the factory. It takes a very long time to assemble, and that's if you are highly skilled with hand and power tools. A replacement cover will require taking the thing apart again, and I'll not be doing that again. I'm disappointed in this purchase, and I wish I had my $1200 back. I could have put my boat into covered storage for less money, especially considering how short lived this thing will probably be. If the barn shelter cost $300 instead $1200, then it would be a reasonable value. I wish you the best of luck if you buy one of these things. Have several friends on hand to help, and use power nut drivers to save time. Update at 7/20/21. The cover split open from the front to rear. So, it lasted about 2.5 years. Not a good value! ... show more

  • MISLEADING ASSEMBLY DIRECTIONS!!!!!
The instructions and even the Shelterlogic youtube assembly video says it should take two people 2-3 hours to assemble... LIES!!!!! My husband is a contractor who builds things as a profession... It took him and my dad 8 hours to assemble with REALLY crappy written instructions, and my husband still has to finish up the assembly later today.... Even other people's youtube videos say the very same thing. This is an all day project with very poor instructions. Otherwise, it is as described and fulfills it's purpose. Nothing crazy strong, regular tarp-like material thickness, not extra-strong looking. We paid 788 here on Amazon, which is the BEST deal for the item according to my internet research. Delivery was fast and friendly. Good seller, CRAPPY product instructions by Shelterlogic. You want a good laugh, watch the 10 minute youtube video with the guy and a woman putting it together in 2 hours. Yea right. PS- this video is a must-see to show better what the paper directions dont show you. ... show more

  • I regret this purchase!
Size: 12' x 28' x 9' Color: Green
I will never buy another Shelterlogic product again. We had an inexpensive entry level garage in a box shelter that we absolutely loved and held up for over 10 years before the tarp began to disintegrate. When it was time for a replacement to put in the same spot, we didn't do a second thought about going with an even bigger Shelterlogic. This shelter did not even last 18 months before the tarp began falling apart from multiple points all over. We tried to patch without success. Once it started to go, there was no stopping it. before it completely ripped and caved in. When I reached out to the company to make a warranty claim, I learned that this tarp only has a 1 year warranty so it's just $1300+ down the drain. The quality of this tarp is essentially a disposable. We've now had to invest several hundreds of dollars in emergency tarps and tie downs to keep the contents within our shelter dry. Proceed with caution on this purchase. ... show more

Quality material. Everything as advertised, except assembly time. It took three people about eight hours to assemble, (not the two people, three hours according to the instructions) but no big deal. We secured the shelter to treated 2" x 6" base for extra strength and stability. We have had it for about a month, and it looks like it will be a great place to store our pontoon boat for a Minnesota winter. Only negative, instructions were not complete. ... show more
