I've been dying my hair either purple, blue or aquamarine on and off for years. I am happy with this product and the color but I want to share some of my own experiences that hopefully you will find beneficial. So here's the whole truth about all hair dye products in these types of colors regardless of brand... They all stain everything they come in contact with...counters, floors, showers, hands, clothes, etc. For hard surfaces, bleach and a magic eraser will work pretty well for clean up. For my skin color, I can minimize staining by washing the area immediately with soap and water. Of course, gloves and an sold towel are an absolute necessity when applying the dye. If you have dark hair and want a vibrant color, you are going to have to bleach your hair...no way around this. The color is going to fade from the first wash because it "bleeds" anytime you use shampoo. How long the color lasts will depend on how often you wash your hair and how well your hair takes color. I only wash mine 2-3 times a week and I still have to touch up my color every few weeks. Be careful of towels, pillows and even clothes. As per my above statement, the colors bleed and can come off onto anything it touches, mostly when your hair is wet. I have not found one particular brand that lasts significantly longer than others. However, some colors do have more staying power. For me, purple is my favorite color but it fades very quickly. If you want a color that lasts the longest, I have found that an aquamarine shade will last forever in my hair, to the point that it's almost hard to get rid of. I have never found any of the major brands to be damaging to my hair. In fact, they seem to counteract the effects of bleaching and help restore my hair to a more healthy state. Bottom line is, if you want to go with any of these types of colors, they will require some work and maintenance...it's all about whether you find it worth it and I personally do! ... show more

I been using this product since March/April this year. I tried other brands in between because when I first started I chose the wrong color and it didn’t became the color I wanted at first, but after trying the others brands and still not achieving the right color I decided to switch back to this brand but choose a different color: I chose Ocean Blue. My hair was lightened before I used the blue so that helped to have a great base, the color is a little bit more liquid than I would like but it makes it really easy to put on the hair. If you’re doing all your hair from roots to tips, it’s really easy to apply, if it’s the first time doing color you might need 2 bottles to make sure your hair is sucking all the dye (and considering that you have mid to long hair as I do), the color will look vibrant for about 2-3 weeks but by the 3-4th week you will definitely want a touch up to keep the color as the first week. So basically: My normal month with this brand had been using 2 bottles the first time, letting it sit about 40’ (the bottle recommends 5’ but my hair is somehow thick so I wanted to make sure it’s really set) and re touch it 3 weeks later to keep the color dark and vibrant. Even tho I do the 3 weeks because I PERSONALLY wanted to be dark blue, the color that faded after the 3 weeks it’s very pretty and people had complimented me about “how nice the color is”, it looked kind of turquoise (like Karol G style). I had been using this dark blue for months and I love it, the brand is 100% worth it for the price range. If you’re new to do dye your hair, it’s a good way to start playing with your hair for a good price range. Disclaimer: if you put this on your natural hair without bleaching first it will take the color BUT it will blend with your base color, so it might not look AS good or vibrant than if you bleach it. For example, my natural blonde hair has a ash tone so when the blue mix with my natural hair, it tends to a greenish tone. So if you have a brunette color and you add blue on top, you might not see the change more than with direct sunlight on your hair. If you want the color to be vibrant, you HAVE to bleach and put the color on top of your bleached hair. ... show more

If I could give 0 stars I would! I read the read the reviews before buying but thought I would give it a chance anyway since some of them were good and I have bought things with bad reviews before that turned out great for me. THIS WAS NOT ONE OF THEM! Bought 2 ocean blue for my daughter for christmas, didn't change her hair at all except for a slight GREEN tint in the sun which still only lasted 1 wash. Gave it a second chance though (because I bought 2 and only needed 1 for her) thinking maybe it would work on me since she had virgin hair and I've been dying for years. NOPE my hair looks exactly the same as it did before dying. Very disappointing! ... show more

I’ve been dying my hair blue, green, purple, etc for the past 15 years (yikes). I have tried a million different brands of dye and adore is BY FAR the best I have ever used. The dye is extremely saturated. I don’t know if maybe you’re supposed to mix it with conditioner or what, but daaang, the colors are gorgeous and super vibrant. If you follow a good technique when applying, you can easily go more than a month before reapplying, however, I wash it in freezing water and i only dye about halfway up and not all the way to the scalp and then only work shampoo into my scalp and not the mid to ends of my hair. It does fade as you wash it, just not as quickly as other brands. The bottles are about the standard size but you might need two if you have long hair or if you’re dying your entire head and not just certain sections. The cost is an insanely good value considering the quality. The colors also mix really well. I like to mix clover and/or emerald with one of the blues (can’t remember which) and I get a really deep, rich teal color. A++, definitely recommend. I’ll never use another brand again. ... show more
