This little tea kettle is just what I was looking for. We are senior citizens and enjoy a cup of tea after our dinner. I was looking for something that was sharply made, stainless steel, lite enough to for us to lift once, and most importantly didn’t whistle, because the whistle scares my pussycats and I believe it even hurts their ears. You know the water is hot enough as you can see steam coming from the 3 steam holes on the lid. Just a very nice tea kettle for 2 to 4 cups of tea. I’ve been using it daily (usually multiple times a day) for two months, excellent little kettle. Just keep in mind it doesn’t whistle. With medium heat, about 16oz of water boils in 12min on an electric stove. Would be nice if it had a thermometer built in, but after 1min off the stove it’s at 205 degrees consistently. So let it cool down on an unused burner for 2min once you see steam shooting out the top and you’ll be ready for coffee. ... show more

Amazon's product description states that the kettle Whistles (Yes). I've heated the water to increasingly higher temperatures to try to see if it will whistle but it hasn't. I like the kettle -- nice weight, easy to pour, etc -- but I was expecting a whistle to let me know when the water has boiled. The only way to know what stage the heating process is in is by lifting off the lid which creates a risk for a steam burn. ... show more
