We had the hardest time finding a roasting pan that would fit out 24lb turkey. This one was the winner. It fits the turkey without any parts hanging over the side. There was even enough room to baste the turkey without having it drip over the sides. We needed to purchase a rack to put in the bottom for the turkey to sit on. It was easy to clean and no signs of rust yet. The lid does not fit on over a 24lb turkey but that doesn't bother me because we use a cheesecloth over the top of our turkey for the first few hours so, there is no need for a lid the way we make ours. ... show more

I needed to replace my 25 year old granite ware 21in rectangular covered roaster that I loved . I made sure I bought another Granite ware. I still have 2 different size oval roasting pans . I bought because I needed for a large turkey for Christmas Eve . I took out of box and undid packaging. I washed to use noticed bottom is warped it does not sit flat which makes lid not sit properly I had no choice but to use . Had to use again for large ham on Christmas Day still the same issues rocking base and lid that doesn’t sit correctly. I tried to email granite ware web site Everytime I filled everything out and pressed send I would get an error . Very frustrating quality has definitely changed from my older ones . I guess I am stuck with my warped pan. ... show more

This roaster is exactly what I was looking for. I purchased it for my Christmas and Thanksgiving turkeys. I always cook 20+ pound birds and they fit perfectly. The pans came really well wrapped and arrived on time. This is a two piece set and with the handles on the ends you can actually use both pieces to cook in. On a side note, the roaster fills the oven; so when you want to take it out, pull the rack out to access the handles. If not, you run the risk of burning yourself and then dropping a huge pan of food. I use the bottom alone for my turkey because I use a cooking bag. I have also roasted a 22 lb ham in this unit and it came out perfectly. If you are looking for a blemish free piece of cookware, don't go with Granite Ware. It is old fashioned cookware that lasts forever, but it isn't always pretty. My original piece is 20+ years old and still going strong. We have used the new pans three or four times and have noticed no defects that would interfere with cooking use. Easy to clean and top stores nestled in bottom. I bought two because once you have it you will find all types of cooking uses for it. I have trouble keeping them at home because my children are always borrowing them. Just remember, they are not only big, they are huge. Just what every holiday chef needs for those large family get togethers. ... show more

Here is the story: My grandmother gave her big oval enamel roaster that looked just like this one to my mother about 30 years ago (and she had it for a long time before that). That thing was a tank that lasted forever and worked great, until my brother-in-law dropped it a 'few' times in the driveway and the two pieces no longer fit together and the coating was chipping off. Since it was time to get a new roaster, the only change I wanted to make was to jump up to rectangular so that more space was available inside. This one holds a 22 lb turkey on a rack without any problems, and it does a beautiful job on the bird. I really wanted to be able to give 5 stars, but I couldn't. When I picked up the roaster with the bird in it, the handles bent/flexed slightly under the load, and the enamel popped off of the inside of the roaster behind the weld locations for the handles. There are now 4 dime sized locations where you can see down to the steel, but at least they will be well above the water line. I think the handles have stabilized at their new locations, so it should last for years (I hope!). Structurally I can see how the oval style roaster would be less susceptible to flexing than the rectangular roaster. If I have to do it again, I will probably go oval and hope that my rack will still fit - but I would stick with this company. Pro - Made in the USA ... show more

    • Great Ovenware for Larger Cuts of Meat or Fowl

Having a large extended family, I thought it was time to purchase an oversized oven roaster that could handle large cuts of meat and fowl. The turkey that was tested topped out at 23lbs and this ovenware handled that size with ease. I like the tall sides on the roaster which kept the juices inside even when I tended to tip it pulling it out from the oven. And with the turkey removed I had no problem then using the cookware over the electric burner on my stove to create the gravy. The ovenware itself is light enough without adding extra weight in trying to remove the cooked turkey from the oven and the lid fits snugly to ensure nothing leaks when manhandling it to the counter. Even using the cookware for making gravy then sitting on the counter overnight without being cleaned as I was too lazy and tired to clean it, it scrubbed up quite easily the next day. I do wish it had come with a interior rack of some sort to keep the meat/bird up from its own juices so I ordered that separately, but as cookware that is relatively inexpensive but does a fine job in delivering great tasting meat, this is highly recommended. ... show more
