We got this little shed/cage home for our stray cat that started hanging around this last winter. This is ideally made for a Guinea pig or rabbit and would be more suitable for them but we were trying to find something we could keep the cat in at night to protect him from raccoons. He didn’t want us to close the doors, so we leave at least one open at all times, but it allows him to have some shelter against the elements by keeping the others shut. You can latch them shut if you have a animal that doesn’t come and go, like a rabbit. It was relatively easy to put together. The instructions were not the best. You should have 2 people and a drill. We added on covers for the window since it’s all exposed wiring and we needed something to keep the wind and rain out for being outside. As you can see from the pictures the cage inside is how it came, and then we added the window coverings from Lowes. Downstairs we are able to put a food plate at feeding times for the cat to eat while it’s raining, and upstairs he has blankets and a heating pad. There is an included ramp which is mostly again for a little animal who can’t hop like a Guinea pig, most of the time our cat doesn’t use the ramp, he just jumps. There are removable floor trays so you can clean It easier If the animal is pooping in there. We have had it outside all winter and so far it has held up. The roof doesn’t leak but since there are no solid doors and windows, before we got the vinyl covers we tried styrofoam and cardboard and the rain always got through. Regarding size, a cat is as big as you can go on animal, and the door needs to be open so they can get out, and only one cat. If it’s a small guy like Guinea pig you could do multiple. Rabbits I would do 1 or 2. It is not suitable for a chicken in my opinion. There is no room for them to walk around. The cat either is sleeping or eating when he in there. There would be no room for a litter box or water bowl. We will be expanding to larger quarters for him this year because he has stuck around and become our pet.

Perfect for my rabbit. He loves this cage. Easy to put together. Took me about 1 hour. Very sturdy. Looks nice in the house. Easy to clean and maintain. Great price as well.

This is a detailed how-to guide with tips... Fantastic design. Wish it were two feet taller and a bit longer for my full-size rabbit. Smaller than my estimate (see one of my photos for a relative comparison next to my full-size rabbit hutch and closet door). Good for one or two small rabbits, one medium rabbit (two would be pushing it), or a couple guinea pigs (maybe even up to four). Definitely not suited for chickens. I was really hoping to move my full-size rabbit into it, but the ramp definitely won't hold the weight and the door at the end of the ramp isn't really suited to a full-size rabbit. That's a shame because the slope is ideal to help prevent slipping and toenail bed injuries. Doors make easy access to pets. Not too difficult to assemble if you can put together kit furniture. Instructions leave a bit to be desired, so use my tips and pics. I would start by unboxing and laying out pieces, then vacuuming off all the pieces as the styrofoam breaks apart and looks like an exploded beanbag chair. It has excellent high-static properties and is guaranteed to last as long as Easter grass and tinsel. The roof shingles also leave grit everywhere, so be careful about scratching the finish, although a couple parts may already be scratched during shipping, which you can pass off as "weathered" or "distressed". Vacuum liberally after assembly. For when you are ready to build, a second set of hands is a good idea. My littlest one helped me and could even hand-screw it together. Parts do not line up as easily as the images in their instructions suggest, but once you flip things around a few times, you can get them lined up with little difficulty. Make sure stapled screens go to the inside. Predrilled holes were not the best. One had a screw already behind it so I had to offset the screw I was placing a few inches down. Watch the pics to see how to properly align the roof pieces. There is an angle on the rails that will settle nicely with the walls. It would be easy to mount them incorrectly if you aren't paying close attention. Predrilled roof holes were not all correct and I placed mine in-line with the wall by eyeballing it (see pics) and did just fine. Overall, if you are a bit handy, can use a drill comfortably to predrill a few holes and NOT OVERTIGHTEN the screws, you can build this in about an hour or even less. Get a couple hanging baskets for your Timothy hay and pellets, and a typical hanging water bottle (get the glass ones, not plastic ones) will clip right on. The wife and kids learned that you can use a puppy pad, with a towel over it, and fleece blankets on top of that (super cheap at Walmart - $2-3) for bedding since the metal trays aren't rust proof. Shake them out and launder the bedding to clean and don't worry about chemicals and treated paper bedding that gets everywhere. I'm going to elevate my hutch on a 5 1/2 foot+ table with table cloths to make it easier to access and store pet supplies under. The solid metal sheet trays are so much better for your critter's feet. Mesh metal is really bad for them, so this was an important feature for our decision to buy this hutch. Would it hold up to a dog or coyote outside? Probably not, unless your dog is a Chihuahua or Yorkie. Would definitely keep falcons and hawks from getting in. We are keeping ours indoors anyways, so this does not matter to us. It isn't insulated anyways. The den on the top level is quite spacious. For the smaller pets, this really is a great hutch, giving much better living space than a little cage would offer as a minimum recommendation. More space = happier pets and more area to socialize and exercise, or to get away from another when needed. It's cute and not just plain wood. This is why I rate this hutch at four stars. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Exactly what I needed for my LionMane bunny. More than enough space and was extremely easy to put together. I used my drill and it took maybe 30 minutes to put it together by myself. Was easy enough for me to pick up by myself and move it to where it needed to be.

I like that this hutch was esthetic and spacious. The depth was slightly deeper than some others I viewed, which is good, without being too large. The ramp isn't too steep and the space between the levels is a good amount, not too small. I like that this hutch doesn't have the grated wire floor that can hurt bunny feet. I wish the roof opened up on hinges, but that's an easy diy. For now I have the rood resting snug on the wooden dowels until then. That way it can be removed easily, if need be. Hutch is sturdy. Our bunny likes it. She was afraid of the ramp since she would slip a bit, so she wasnt using the loft at first. I cut up a cheap rug and adhered it to the ramp and now she uses the second floor. The hutch is wood, bunnies chew, that's no fault of the product. Our bunny chewed the ramp a little, but just have toys and chews to keep your bunny from getting bored and let them free roam (if possible) and we haven't had issues since. Great hutch, large for the cost, durable, cute 👍

(Review update at the end: no longer recommending this) Initial review: We love this hutch for our 3 guinea pigs! I wouldn't feel good about leaving them locked in here 24/7. There is a decent amount of space, but they need room to run. After adding toys, hay bins, food bowls, forage mats, cozy beds, and hidey holes, there isn't much room. There's definitely not enough room for litter boxes. To resolve the lack of space, I added 12 inch "extenders" to the legs of the hutch and built a 4'x6' platform for it to sit on and fenced it off, so now the piggies have the hutch and room under and around it. The table is only 2 feet high from the ground, but it helps SO much with cleaning, because it was pretty difficult getting up and down on the floor with the height of just the hutch. Plus, having a 2ft high platform gives me storage space under it for their mini fridge and supplies. I just built a ramp to take them from the platform to the first floor of the hutch and attach it to a door opening. I added cabinet handles on the removable trays to help with pulling them in and out. If you plan to use disposable bedding with this, get a deeper tray style. We use fleece bedding which I sewed to fit. Disposable bedding would just make a mess and I doubt you could pull the trays out with it (not to mention that it's expensive). The trays themselves aren't the easiest to clean because they're textured plastic, but some elbow grease and routine cleaning does the job. I added 4 inch high coroplast sides all around the mesh walls of the hutch because the girls were peeing through the mesh sides. The wood itself seems to be holding up even with the pee that gets through around the trays. It's stained but doesn't appear to be softening with the liquid. I like that we can clip things into the mesh sides, but, heavy things could bend the mesh slightly (like full water bottles). I don't like the ramp that goes to the second story of the hutch because it's not (easily) removable once assembled, and it's nearly impossible to clean. It also had inadequate traction on it, so I re-covered it in a durable outdoor rug cut to fit. The piggies wouldn't go near it at first because there were no sides, so I also made a coroplast tunnel attachment for the ramp and the opening at the second story. I think that's about it. So overall, this is a good hutch, but it requires some imagination and creativity to make it perfect. UPDATE 9 MONTHS LATER: So, we had this hutch set up for almost 9 months. Long story short: don't get this. Go with a c&c type. As I stated previously, the trays are hard to clean. The table/"bottom story" that we built under the hutch was even harder to clean. After 9 months of cleaning twice a week and taking at least an hour each time.... I decided I needed a change and went with a customized c&c grid type habitat. I didn't want to replace this hutch after having spent so much time and money on making it work, but the cleaning process was just too difficult and not worth the time or aesthetic/cuteness of this hutch. I spent about $100 building a c&c cage (complete with storage) and I absolutely wish I would have done this in the first place. It now takes me under half an hour to clean a habitat that has more square footage, more air flow, no leakage or stainage, more sturdiness, has shelves for storage, and cost less than half the price of this hutch.

LOVE IT!! I used it to replace my tiny dog's regular kennel so she can have more space to run around and a potty pad area. She is a wood chewer and so far she hasn't wanted to chew any parts of it. I call it her Doggy Condo, and it's adorable because I can decorate it for the holidays too. LOL! I also have a mini dachshund and he likes to go in it too. Only downfall is it puts off a lot of off-gassing fumes at the beginning. The roof asphalt also falls all over the place when you first get it, but if you give it a good pat then it should shed the rest off so there's no future problems. It was easy to install & took me about 2 hours to build it- but some of that is user error and fixing my mistakes (if things don't seem like they're fitting naturally, try turning them a different direction). Probably only a 1 hour job for most people. I'll have to do what other people said and put some carpet on the ramp because she'll only use it if there's a blanket there for her feet to catch onto instead of the plain wood. This is big enough for one small bunny to live comfortably. 2 would be tight. It’s probably not big enough for our two adult ferrets honestly. But it’s cute and was easy to build. I do wish the wire was less flimsy and the roof material was sealed as it’s everywhere. But all-in-all it’s a decent product.
