I wanted this mainly for shade. I am fortunate enough that behind the building where I work there is a pond and some shade trees. I can hook my hammock up to my roll bar on my jeep and the other end to a tree. Once the leaves fall off the tree in the fall the sun finds it way through and puts a real glare on my phone. I use this time to do my daily devotion and read my Bible. So I thought this would make me some good shade to solve that problem. It does the job. It is well constructed and comes with guy lines tensioners and stakes. It is made with some light weight rip stop material. It has an extra panel that can zip to either side for several different configurations. It comes in a nice storage bag and it fits back in it after you use it, that is a plus in itself. Pros: well constructed, extra zip on panel / side wings for more configuration, lightweight, fits back in the storage bag, Cons: maybe could have used some extra tie down points in the middle of each side, probably hard to do since it has the extra panel that zips on. I really like this rain fly / tarp. It is going to provide the shade that I need and who knows I made need it to keep me dry.

This backpacking tarp is amazing!! I really appreciate that it comes neatly rolled up in a matching bag and that it has stakes and strings included already so you don’t have to worry about forgetting anything!! The quality is amazing and it is not super light weight, but that gives it more strength as well! Very easy to use! I have not had any problems with leaking or the side add on section having problems! An amazing set!! It could also be a really good item for 72 hour kits or emergencies!!

I have always carried a tarp in my smaller backpacks for emergency shelters. This is a bit bulkier than a standard hardware store tarp, but it is much heavier and geared toward shelters. The detachable side wall, is a very cool feature. This can be used for a lot more than just emergency shelter. I would use this just to setup a place to take a break and have a meal. I am very happy with the design and durability of this tarp. I think it is a good value for the money.
