We are inundated with loose cats. These have killed our pet bunnies, and use our vegetable garden as a toilet and our bird feeders as their personal bird killing fun. It is inexcusable for people to allow their cats to run loose to destroy pets and wildlife. We are attaching two foot chicken wire to the bottom of our chain link fence to discourage animals from digging as the cats use these holes to gain access to our yard. Yes, they also can jump/climb chain link and we have attended to that. The chicken wire is attached to the bottom of the chain link fence about 10" up. We then bent the remaining 14" of chicken wire in an L shape on the ground and used these stakes to secure them. We plan to place rocks and mulch on the wire. The stakes go in easily and are well made, solid. Be sure to wear gloves as the stakes can be sharp. We did have a few cuts installing them. By spacing these stakes about two feet apart we hope to discourage our resident skunks and raccoons from digging under the fences, and therefore force any marauding cats to go elsewhere, or work harder to come into our yard.
