It’s a very durable and versatile trap. The size is ideal for multiple configurations. The colors in my photos is off. The real color exactly as in the product shots. The logo is a too big, but on the olive green version it blends in. If you get it make sure you meld the ends of the paracord. They are already good to go but I’d melt them again. I also would recommend buying an extra set of tent pegs. Again, you’re purchasing a tarp not a tent. So if you want more, get more. I think the four that come with it is plenty for most uses. I got more. The orange tent is an REI Trail Hut 2 as comparison. I set the arp next to it in a folded over config so that I had a ground sheet. Tons of room for one with all gear. Or for two (not sure about the gear though). For all you heroes complaining that you cannot get pack back in the bag… this is my 12 year old daughter’s tarp. She packs it alone and gets it done. Just for perspective. And if you think it’s too heavy: go to the gym. The weight really is appropriate for the size and durability. You can make you own super lightweight out of tyvek, but this one here is really good. I also would add a ridge line to you set. And yes, it will fit in the bag. Overall, we are really pleased with it and only give it 1 star because the delivery tuck had a smudge on the windshield. Just kidding. 5 stars. Good product. ... show more

    • For Casual use to Bushcraft, this is great!

I bought this originally for bushcraft use, but quickly found it was amazing for setting up basic shelters when doing Ham Radio portable events and hikes. It has a zillion tie points for flexibility in configuration and is not nearly as heavy as others I've used. The size is very generous, making shelters more comfortable, and so far it's held up to rain, wind, and sun like a champ. Feels pretty durable, and I haven't had any issues with stressed stitching or tears. Very pleased with it. ... show more

I never left home without and used a tarp shelter made from silnylon for 10 years in the backcountry and alpine of Alaska. They are more versatile, lighter and small in a pack than a tent but albeit not as good as a full tent in a blow setup as advertised. I used mine to cover a bolt hole in the snow, or a trench, snow pit cook shelter, even to wrap around us in the rain resting. The one I carried for over 10 years was made from silnylon and weighed 1 pound and the same size as the Free Soldier with a stuff ask half the size. I was looking to replace my old silnylon shelter and found this one, the price was not bad. Its quite heavy duty / heavy fabric with lots of webbing for versatility in use but all these do add weight and require a larger stuff sack. But for the price, hard to beat for the use. Rain good to go, snow good to go, wind is another story. The edges have to be staked tight and secured of the wind will blow under the edges creating a parachute and chilling inside I have shoveled snow around the edges, rocks, limbs to secure down the edges in a wind. Another option is to clip to a high point like a tree limb, ice screw, piton, cam, etc. with a carabiner that allows it to hang, get inside, sit of the edges, good shelter out of the weather. Or use a ski / trekking pole to apex the tent. My one compliant, not enough stakes. I bought 2 more; the 4 supplied to stake out the 4 corners, but requires another stake to secure the entry flap / door on its self to seal it up, 2 are better to cross the fabric so its tighter. Of course, rocks, snow blocks and such can be used for the same thing its just in my opinion, 6 should be included. Along with P cord and slider locks. The slider locks on the P cord work, they slide with ease yet lock up tight. Close friends, this will hold 3 and even 4 for very close friends. Well worth the price. ... show more

This is a long term use review. I purchased this winter of 2021 and have put this tarp to the test in a variety of enviornments in SW Oregon. Two summers of camping trips has seen it used in nearly every way possible, awning, tent, ground cloth, rain fly and even extended exposure to the harsh sun. It has continued to hold together, with no rips, holes or dry rot. I used it regularly through the fall, winter and spring, it hasn't leaked and sheds snow extremely well. This is a great item and way higher quality then I expected for it price point. As an experienced woodsman who prefers tarp camping i recommend this if you are looking for a durable tarp at an affordable price. ... show more

It's a great durable tarp. And pretty light for its size. I would consider it more of a car camping tarp then a backpacking tarp. It has enough tie off points to make setup easy. The Paracord it comes with works but it's not the greatest and I can see it only being used a few times before it really starts degrading. I am currently searching for a nice Ridgeline and guylines for this tarp. ... show more

Absolutely the best tarp money can buy and the best company to purchase a tarp from. I owned this tarp for nearly 3 years, using it at least 10 times and the last time I used it, two of the attachment points ripped out. I thought there was no way customer service would do anything but I contacted them anyways just to see. I emailed them on a weekend and before the day was over I had a reply. Without even needing to send a picture of the tears and without having purchased Amazon's protection plan, they sent me a replacement THE NEXT DAY. I got my replacement tarp 2 days after my initial email. You should buy this just for the amazing customer service. My favorite aspects of the tarp: -plenty of attachment points -uses both loop and hole points of attachment -waterproof -good size. makes great tarp tent or hammock cover things I don't like about the tarp: -nothing (note: it is not an ultralight tarp. but weighs no more than a trekking pole tent) Thank you Free Soldier! ... show more
