  • Perfect for backpacking
Color: Dark Green
My daughter loved this. I bought a few. They took it backpacking and slept in it instead of the tents the whole time. Mosquitos didn't bother them while sleeping. Comfortable and my daughter is 5"11 had no problem fitting with plenty of room.

  • comfortable portable hammock with a strong mosquito net, but easy to flip if you are not careful
We took this camping with us for the first trip of the season. The hammock folds up pretty small, into it's own attached storage case. It was really easy to setup. It comes with two straps that you loop around a tree or pole, and the strap has different loops on it that you attache the carabiner from each hammock end to. The screen is held up by a spring steel wire that keep the screen up and away from the hammock. I found that when there is nobody in the hammock, the screen tends to fall below the hammock. You can get in the hammock in this configuration without the screen, or you can flip it back around and use the screen. The screen is pretty sturdy as my 10 year old found out when he was in the hammock with the screen zipped closed, and flipped himself upside down. The screen did not rip, so it can support at least 60 pounds. The screen can be opened from inside or outside the hammock, but with my son's weight on the screen and his awkward position, I had to flip him back around for him to get out. There are two pockets that can be used to hold things. One is a small pocket located inside the screened part, and the other is the storage pouch that you can use as well, but it is outside the screen. Neither one is good for holding a beverage unless it's a closable bottle. Everybody in the family enjoyed the hammock, especially with the screen. It was too early for mosquitos, but it kept the flies away, as well as the dropping flowers from the trees. The heaviest person was 150 pounds and 6 feet tall, and had no issues using it. The straps seems plenty strong, as does the hammock material. We had one strap around a tree, and the other was around a square metal pole. Neither strap slipped at all getting in or our, or laying in the hammock. It's pretty lightweight, and I suppose you could use it for an overnight backpacking trip if there wasn't going to be any rain. It this came with a rain fly it would be perfect for a summer overnight sleeping tent. It is pretty easy to get in and out of, but it is also easy to flip it once you're in it. You have the stay pretty centered in the hammock, and you cannot roll to the side or it will flip. There is a lot of hammock material and for my family it went up pretty high on either side. I don't know how my son managed to flip it, but it is possible and it only took him about 5 minutes to do it. I'm not really sure what you'd do if you were alone and flipped it with the screen closed. You'd need to try to unzip the screen I think, it's not really possible to flip yourself back upright alone. For that reason, I'm taking away a star because it seems like it could be unsafe to use alone. ... show more

  • No regrets

The media could not be loaded. I absolutely love using this in my backyard to enjoy the night skies. I bought 2 and placed it side-by-side just so I can have company as well. Listening to nature and watching the stars without the hassle of fighting bugs is the best.

Very comfortable hammock

  • It's confusing
Trying to get in and out of this hammock is confusing and it's nearly impossible to zip up due to all of the fabric. Great idea, not a great execution. I ended up hanging it on my hammock stand, trying it out a couple times and then not using it anymore just due to the hassle of opening and closing it with the zippers getting stuck in fabric. Not recommended for the best hammock experience. ... show more

  • Great for Lounging and Casual Fun
Color: Navy Blue
There are two types of hammock users. There are casual weekend users who want to spend a little time in a hammock to relax and nap. There are also those who like to spend multiple days using a hammock as their primary bed and shelter. I’ve done both and can confidently say that this Chihee Ultra-Light Travel Hammock is a great option for the casual napper. Build Quality: The Chihee Hammock is very well built. Most hammocks have a little bit of nylon fuzz that needs to be trimmed before use. This product is immaculate. Even the zippers run very smoothly. The hanging system are nylon straps with multiple loops. The stitching was also very well done on those. Flat multi-looped straps are my favorite system because wide straps cause no damage to tree bark like ropes and cables do. The multi-loops and carabiners make it super easy for people who aren’t very skilled at tying knots. Size: The Chihee hammock is smaller than traditional parachute hammocks. It’s 275cm (9.0ft) long but only 140cm (4.6ft) wide. That’s 58cm (22in) narrower! A wider hammock allows the user to lay diagonally, which means they can lay flat rather than curved like a banana. Over time, the banana-position will cause knee hyper-extension and discomfort. Also, smaller hammocks make it more difficult to install sleeping pads. More on that in a moment. Versatility: This is where I really like the Chihee for afternoon napping. The bug net is built in, and uses flexible poles to maintain its shape. I can just sling this between a couple trees and quickly jump in to catch a short nap on my lunch hour. There’s no need to hang a ridge line just so that I can suspend a bug net. If there are no bugs, I can roll up the net and secure it with the provided toggles. Or, I could even just flip the entire hammock upside-down and rest inside without the net getting in the way at all. Mosquitoes: The net is very effective at keeping away biting flies, no-see-ums, and bees/wasps. I hate to break it to you all, but mosquitoes will bite THROUGH the nylon fabric. I learned this through a horrible first-hand experience. Yes, the net will keep mosquitoes out of people’s faces, but they’ll have a FEAST by biting THROUGH the bottom of the hammock. If the hammock were wider, sleeping pads could be installed, which would provide the distance needed to prevent through-fabric bites. Plus, sleeping pads are great for overnight sleeping. Packing/Storage: The stuff bag is quite large. I had absolutely no problems packing the Chihee hammock back into it’s bag after I used it. The flexible battens also have clever male/female ends that keeps them safe from poking through the hammock when shoved into the bag. Another nice touch. Final Verdict: The Chihee Ultra-Light Travel Hammock is a great option to keep in the trunk of the car for impromptu naps, or “hanging out” in a park on a beautiful afternoon. But, if you’re looking to build an overnight sleeping option for camping, there are much better products that utilize a ridgeline or underquilt. I gave this 4 of 5 stars only because the size is narrow and as a result it’s slightly less comfortable than the other hammocks that I routinely use. ... show more
