I worried whether this small water heater would have the capacity for my kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room. In six months, we have not run out of hot water. We try to avoid running the dishwaser and clothes washer at the same time and definitely would not take a shower while one of those was running, but so far no issues. I think it would not hold up for a long shower, but seems fine for a normal one. Most dishwashers have a heating element to get the water temperature up to a much higher temperature than any hot water heater can produce, so don't even require hot wather. Even at Thanksgiving, with lots of hand washing of dishes and cooking utensils there was no drop in water temperature. I think the second element that cuts un when the main element is not keeping up is the feature that makes this unit adequate for the three rooms I mentioned. ... show more

The box looked a little damaged but I checked the water heater and it was well packed inside for shipping and there wasn’t anything wrong with the water heater. I got it hooked up and it worked fine. Be prepared to see wire connections for only two hots and a ground, (no neutral). So my 10-3 AWG wire I had already installed, I found myself not seeing a place for the white wire. I connected the black and red wires to the heater power terminals, and the ground lead to the ground lug on the water heater, but the white wire had no separate designated terminal. I eventually landed the white wire on the ground lug connection. ... show more

I am not giving it a full five stars because it is made in China, General Electric, along with many other companies used to be made in America!!! and I thought I was buying an American made product, my experience with Chinese made products including brand-name. Popular items has been less than stellar. Although the water heater does seem to work well, it uses the same technology that an American made unit would use, same water elements and thermostat, etc. I am just worried that the tank will not last. The shipping box that the water heater arrived in was pretty beat up and water heater itself had a few small dents and dings, but that is only superficial as there is a layer of insulation between the outside metal casing in the inside tank, none of the dents were deeper than 3/8 of an inch and the water heater is pretty well hidden out of sight as the water heater is an a hard to reach area in my home, the original American made GE unit made it over 30 years with no problems, this water heater is only for a bidet, so it does not get much use other than when the bidet in the bathroom is being used . It does seem to function well and holds temperature very close to where the setpoint is, that is important to have when it is hooked up to this type of bidet because some people can be scolded if it is too hot. So far, no leaks, etc. , it is only slightly larger than the 10 gallon unit that I replaced , it should be easy to install for most people that have a decent set of tools and knowledge of plumbing and proper techniques…. Overall time will tell on its quality, I hope it’s just as good if not better than the original made in America GE! ... show more

Fast delivery and easy installation. Put this in the mechanical room below the master bath to facilitate quick warm-up as our main water heater is quite a distance from the master. This will save water and reduce wait time.

This is not a 240V unit! The manufacturer mislabeled it, and it is very much a 120V water heater. I could not get a hold of GE, so I called Amazon who game me their number. I got a hold of a person at GE and was told my only option was to return it. If you live in the middle of nowhere like I do, then you understand how difficult it is to return anything to Amazon. Looks like I'll no longer be a GE customer. Lesson learned...Go to in store places for appliances. ... show more
