I wanted to make sure this would fit all the food my pets would need, so I could just empty all the bags of food into the 80lb food vault, and yes, it works. Just remember the whole point of the food vault is to lock the top. The important thing, though, is to keep the food vault inside, so roaches and other pests do not find it. Keep it somewhere you normally would not keep food, like maybe an office corner. Thanks to this 80 lb food vault, I can store all the dog and parrot food I have (in separate containers, of course) without having to worry about overfilling. And the best part is, no more roaches! We were searching for a birdseed storage solution after we had a rodent invasion who dined from the seed bags. This unit solved all those problems, it's big and indestructible, holds 2 40lb bags of seed, lid is easy on/off and seals tight. The only drawback with this, which is to be expected, is that it's hard to move when filled. 80lbs with small indentations as handles isn't the easiest chore, so make sure it's where you want it before you fill it. Even though it doesn't seem to hold the 80 lbs. of dog food like it says it holds a full 40 lb. bag of food just fine with room for maybe 10 more lbs. It seems to keep the Dog food fresh quite well for a couple weeks, but that's about how long it lasts anyway. I want to get another one as sometimes my store is out of stock of my dogs' favorite food. Sometimes I have to buy other foods they like and mix it in, when I do that one of these containers definitely doesn't hold it. I would also like to buy a smaller one for when we go camping to hold their food in and maybe try to use one as a waterproof cache for extra stuff when I go out camping in the deep woods (not the deep dark woods, go there and you probably won't come back) ... show more

Good container and tough, but the rubber ring to seal it airtight fell apart on mine after a couple months. I still use the container since I go through the kibble fast enough not to be worried about needing such a tight seal.
