Hot summer day. I fell asleep under the ac. When I a woke, I remembered the pump as animals, birds, and squirrels mostly, drank the fountain near dry. The pump had stopped but after I added more water, it began to pump again. Not that I'd recommend this, as I am not sure how much damage otherwise may have been done. But it might be good to know that it cut off when it ran dry and recovered. ... show more

I bought this to pump drain my backyard artificial pond. Its 50 gallons and should have been a simple task for this pump. After 5 to 8 minutes I noticed the water level stopped getting lower. I checked the output hose and no water was coming out. The pump motor was still running but it wasn't doing anything. I checked for debris blocking the impeller, it was clear. I tried a few things including removing the output hose, but it did not help. There were no clogs or obstructions. I know this is a very inexpensive pump, but I expected it to last at least 10 minutes, which it did not. I have submitted for my refund. ... show more

The pump is larger than I expected, about the size of my palm. After installation, the water was immediately pumped up to my filter, which is 3 feet high. The water coming out of the outlet pipe on top is very strong. The 25W power pump is still pretty good. It's a little noisy when placed in the bedroom, but the noise doesn't affect sleep. However, after running for 2 day, I woke up to find that the water output of the pump had decreased significantly. The output rate was at least 1/3 lower. I thought it was clogged, so I took it apart. I found that there was no blockage. After taking it apart, I found that the inlet was only a small hole at the bottom. The mesh on the side is just for decoration. However, it can still pump the water up to the filter. right now, the pumping speed is about the same as my old 10W pump. ... show more

Great little pump. Use it to transfer water for aquariums and I use the 1/2 in. outlet adapter. Pick a clear tubing up for it at Lowes for under 7usd 10ft long. empties 50% of aquarium 20gals in no time. I use buckets and drop it into the bucket to replace what water I remove and it's just as fast both ways. Would recommend to anyone wanting to save time on water changes. ... show more
