Well, I guess the first question is are these worth the price? I would say yes, they are worth every penny. They are of good quality, and are far more robust than the single use tanks that cost between $5-$10 per pound of LP. These are fillable from a portable LP tank at a cost of about a buck. With a purge valve, these are easy to refill with the correct adapter. I’d recommend one with a 90° bend, which is much easier to use. These canisters are safer to use, and to transport in a vehicle. Over its expected lifespan, one of these is safer and cheaper, and better for the landfill than going through a bunch of single use canisters. If it’s your preference to refill a disposable single use canister, read the fine print on the label and ask yourself if the risk is worth it. For me, it’s a no brainer. ... show more

These work perfectly on my propane camping stove and my propane lantern. I love that they can be refilled easily from a 20lb tank which saves me a ton of money. I can refill these for under $1.00 a shot, the disposable tanks are now going for about $5 OR $6 each so this pays for itself pretty quickly I have already refilled the tanks about 3 times each so when you do the math after you refill them 4 or 5 times you have more than broken even. Now it does require a special filling system but again even after adding that cost in I figure after 7 or 8 fills I will break even. Plus the fact they are safe and legal to refill is a serious plus. You can tell these are made better than the disposable tanks, and the fact that 99% of places can't recycle the disposable tanks, these keep TONS of metal waste out of the landfill. So this comes out as one of the few eco-friendly options that I have found that actually saves you money pretty quickly. ... show more

Propane camping cylinders are very useful items, but they are not legally refillable. These cylinders will fill that function by providing cylinders that are in fact legally refillable. Haven't had a chance to use these cylinders yet due to a very cold winter here in the Adirondacks, but along with a refill hose, these cylinders will be a cost-effective addition to my camping experience. ... show more

Yeah there is a little extra up front expense in purchasing and using these refillable bottles, but with the disposable bottles costing what they do now...is it really that much more. Anyway, if you forget about cost of entry into this, I find I can theoretically fill one of these bottles for about a dollar. They do come empty and also note you need a device to fill the bottles with. Filling one is pretty easy and safe, as long as you follow the directions. I have used them and filled them many times and they haven't given me a problem yet. ... show more

    • Safe, and the convenience pays for itself

There are many reasons to not refill disposable propane bottles, but if you don’t believe them, just buy these for the ease of refilling. I just refilled 2 canisters in under five minutes. The flame king bottles are very easy to fill since they have the pressure release valve right on top, easily accessible using the included Allen wrench. Much nicer than monkeying with the pressure release valve on disposables than often leak once you pull up on them. Put the canister in the freezer, the large propane tank in the sun for 30 minutes, attach the filling hose, place the Flame King on a zeroed scale, open the valves, loosen the pressure release valve, and let it fill until you get 16oz or the relief valve starts to spit liquid propane. If you think all the safety warnings are just scare tactics, a conspiracy, or from people who don’t know what they’re doing, search YouTube on “Why you shouldn’t refill disposable propane canisters”. Not only can the disposables blow up on you and burn you, but leaking liquid propane can hit you in the eyes and permanently blind you. Be good to yourself and buy this two-pack. It’s so inexpensive that it makes no sense to risk the disposables. Great value, recommended. ... show more
