Recently I purchased a propane powered generator for emergency use. Because propane has a lower energy content than gasoline I knew that the generator would be fuel hungry, but I did not fully appreciate how much that would be the case. I soon began looking for a better option than a couple of 20lb BBQ tanks. These have turned out to be a good answer. They are about as big and (when filled) heavy as I want to fool with, and depending on load, are good for around a day each. Currently I have 3 tanks, and I plan on adding 3 more. Construction seems to be pretty good, but since I am storing them outside, I have supplemented the powder coat finish with an anti-corrosive spray in vulnerable areas. I did the Facebook/Marketplace and Craigslist ads for a used one. So after a few weeks of looking for a reasonable deal, I gave up. Amazon's price on this (and I bought a smaller one as well) was within 10 or 15% more than some beat-up used hand-me-down.
