Don't get me wrong, these are excellent fire bricks; good price and very sturdy. It is just that you are not going to cut these to fit your specific needs with a carbide hacksaw. Nope, you are going to need an electric tile cutting saw and, even then, some patience.

I ordered 2 boxes. One box was perfect the other had 2 broken. Amazon replaced them within 2 days, that was not a problem, however it does show they can be brittle. I had to trim 1/4 inch of the end of each one, that was difficult. They are very hard to cut. I used a diamond edged masonry blade, I got the cuts made but it destroyed my blade. I haven’t fired them yet but I’m excited to have something that hopefully will stand up to the heat in my forge

They arrived perfectly packed and of the 3 boxes that I bought, not one had any cracks. These bricks are super hard and a previous reviewer stated they were as hard as pharaoh’s heart and have to chuckle as they have the hardness similar to brick pavers. I had a difficult time cutting them so I’m glad I only had to cut 4 bricks. I used a diamond masonry blade on my angle grinder and found a trick to cutting them. I started by cutting in about 1/4” and then took a spray bottle and squirted water in the trench I made and it was just enough water to create a wet saw technique and it cut at least 50% faster. I’d use this technique every 1/2 deep cut. I’d buy these again; in like greater than 10 years when they need replacement.
