  • 4th treadmill we've tried. Love this one
Item Shape: FA-T600
The media could not be loaded. I had previously reviewed a stationary exercise bike and a $300 treadmill for working out at home while the local gym has been somewhat on lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic. The bike never got used and the treadmill -- you truly DO get what you paid for! I sold it after it had been sitting there for months. With that said, my brother and I each were still on the hunt for a treadmill: one for use with a standing desk (which I had previously reviewed that was actually quite nice) and another that is more traditional. Although we each liked a treadmill we found, I ultimately wanted one with a motorized incline/decline without spending over $1,000. I wanted to ensure that this treadmill would get its fair use before writing the review. Over the last 2 weeks, I had used it about 3 times a week. Right off the bat, you should be aware that this treadmill does NOT compare to what you would find at the gym where those machines cost more than $1000. What it DOES have going for it is its build quality. It is by far, far better than the $300 treadmill I had initially tried in terms of exuding confidence as a safer equipment, more professional look, and extra amenities. SETUP It was SUPER easy to put together (instructions were good enough to follow). Screw on a few bolts at the bottom front to hold the vertical posts in place, secure the dashboard with more bolts, and finally, screw on two plastic covers where the springs can be found at the bottom. Heart rate sensor worked right out of the box and appeared accurate -- it matched my Garmin chest strap's reading. MATERIAL This treadmill looks sturdy with metal parts throughout (and accented with some plastic). It is HEAVY at an estimated 130 lbs due in large part to the motor responsible for the incline/decline. There are skateboard-type wheels at the back to allow the treadmill to be moved without scratching the floor. At the front-right, there is a hole to put droplets of silicone oil into to help lower the friction exerted onto the running belt. This helps ensure the belt lasts longer. It supposedly can accommodate up to a 300 lbs person. The dashboard is fully plastic and gives it a visually larger footprint than I'd like, but it gives you additional storage space to hold water bottles, keys, and what not. I really like the shock absorbing running surface, and the 17" width of the running belt. The latter gives me more confidence with running without falling off the treadmill. The cheaper ones I had tried were all about 1" narrower. An inch apparently makes a huge difference! (That's what she said!) The motor, at the lowest setting is VERY quiet. You can also feel its power when set to its maximum speed of 16 km/h (9.9 mph) USE - The treadmill itself can be folded and unfolded with the assistance of hydraulics, making it require far less strength to put away. I was particularly impressed with this one over the $600 treadmill I had previously tried -- it was more effortless to fold up than the other -- I did not like that you cannot lock the unfolding mechanism. One can activate it by simply pushing it, and slowly, the running belt comes down. For an adult, that's not a problem. But if you have a toddler who happens to be in that area, the treadmill coming down (although very slowly) could potentially be fatal for the baby. I remedied this by using a bungie cord to hold the running belt portion up so that even if the hydraulic mechanism was activated, the treadmill would not come down - Speed and incline can be adjusted through both the control panel and where the pulse rate sensors are located - It shows the values in metric units. In other words, you will see km/h instead of mph. I found no way to change that. Speeds go up to 16 km/h (9.9 mph). - Incline goes up to 15% grade - There are Programs that vary speed and incline levels to confuse muscle memory and provide a better workout - There is a red magnet that attaches to the control unit. You should clip it to yourself so if you fell, it would INSTANTLY shut off the machine. - Instruction manual includes 1 silicone lubricant bottle. It states that for better performance and longevity, you should squeeze some drops of lubricant through the hole found at the front-right, and it then distributes the droplets to the center of the running belt. You should let the belt run for a few seconds so the oil would get distributed more evenly -- The first treadmill I had did not come with any lubricants, and so this shows that the company seems to care about the quality of its equipment. - Belt starts after a 3 second count down when the Start button is pressed. WHAT I DID NOT LIKE - You cannot change the display to imperial units (mph/miles) - Hydraulic function to help fold/unfold the treadmill has no locking feature to stop a child from accidentally having the running belt portion come down and result in something fatal - Shipping box came damaged, pointing to potentially inadequate packing to keep the content damage-free - It's very heavy This treadmill takes up a decently small amount of space and is VERY easy to fold/unfold. It felt sturdy and safe and was wide enough that I could still focus on watching a movie while running. Quite happy with this purchase. The quiet motor and automatic incline/decline worked well and for its cost works better than expected. ... show more

  • Very happy with this treadmill!
The media could not be loaded. Packaging: The treadmill is delivered in one box. The box is very heavy and the delivery driver used a hand truck to get it to my front porch. The box is very thick and heavy duty. Assembly: The assembly was surprisingly easy. I was expecting it to be a very difficult and long assembly process. But it was not and took me all of 10 minutes to assemble. The main head unit with the handles just raises up into position and you just add a few bolts to it to secure it in place. The instructions were very easy to follow and there was really not much to assemble. For the one major step I do recommend that you have somebody hold the head assembly up in place until you can get a couple bolts put in to secure it. If my memory serves me correct, there were a total of six bolts and the assembly is done. Honestly, I was really happy that the assembly was so simple. I was expecting a long drawn out assembly process. So great job by the manufacturer creating a product that goes together in less than 10 minutes so that you can start using it immediately. Use: The treadmill it's super easy to use. All the buttons are very intuitive and I didn't even read the directions cause I was so excited to use it first. It's pretty simple, just press this button marked with a capital s which is also the stop button. Yeah that simple start and stop are the same button. For safety it does come with a clip, and if the clip is pulled off of the unit the tread stops immediately. And I mean immediately. When you press the stop button it does not stop immediately it slowly decelerates to a stop. As I mentioned in my video, what I love most about the functionality of this treadmill is that the speed button is on one handle and the incline button is on the other. yes you can increase the speed and the incline from the head unit but having both of these buttons on the handles is genius. This is where my hands are and where I feel the most comfortable on the treadmill. It has plenty of pre-installed programs. Personally I don't use the programs. I just know that I'm going to walk for a set amount of time. I start off with the incline as high as it will go and it is speed that I can manage initially. And then because the buttons are so easy to access on the handles, I both raise and lower the speed and then later lower the incline as I tire. My first walk on this was a 45 minute duration. I have walked up to an hour on it with various inclines. The incline goes up to 15° and can be adjusted single degree increments. The belt on the treadmill and running surface is very comfortable to walk on. They had unit has built-in speakers which work really good. I plug in my 10-in tablet and watch TV. The speakers on the tablet aren't loud enough. So the speakers on the head unit to a much better job at playing my shows louder. Surprisingly this treadmill is very quiet. In my video I believe that I mentioned that the USB port is a charging port. I later learned that this is not a charging port and it's in fact a music input port. So you can connect your iPhone or Android phone to it and play music right from your phone via this USB port. It also has two cup holders which came in handy for me because I had a pre-energy workout drink loaded in a water bottle that I use on my walks. The overall size of the treadmill is perfect in my opinion. I have seen much larger units and smaller ones as well. This unit provides a medium to large footprint but not as not as huge as some of the other ones I've seen at Costco. Storage: Once again I was impressed with the ease of which the treadmill folds up. I thought this would be a little more difficult than it is. But don't it's as simple as grabbing the handle and letting the hydraulic piston do the work for you. As soon as you lift up on the handle at the bottom portion of the treadmill, it lifts up very easily and folds up. Deploying and unfolding they treadmill is equally as easy. Just push the plastic lock with your foot and it unlocks the treadmill so it will drop down. I also moved it around when folded up. The treadmill in the folded up position is very well balanced and it is easy to roll it around in the folded position. Once again I was very impressed with this because the treadmill is very heavy but not difficult to move. So great job on the manufacturer balancing out the weight of it so that it's easy to move in the folded position. Cons: The head unit does not have a large built-in graphic display. But I don't really care about that because I use a tablet. Plus a built-in screen will raise the price of the unit and I wasn't willing to spend over $1,000 on a treadmill. When stopping the treadmill, it declines back to horizontal. I know this is a safety reason but I wish you would stay in its last position. But I'm being probably overly vertical here. Yes I'm lazy and don't want to have to raise it back to 15° after it was already there. Other than that I really have no other cons or concerns with this treadmill. Maintenance: As with all treadmills maintenance is very important. This manufacturer includes a small bottle of silicone oil. With heavy use, you should add two to three drops of oil on each side of the belt. The treadmill belt runs from the sides and not the middle. At the end of my video, I show you how to raise up the tread and apply oil drops. If you are not going to be a heavy user of the treadmill, then you only have to do this maintenance once a month. Me being a heavy user, I will definitely be adding a couple drops every 2 weeks. This will extend the life of my investment. This is something you would have to do on any treadmill. If you don't add oil to any treadmill then you are potentially lowering the expectancy of the product. So if you didn't watch my video that I uploaded, then I recommend watching it so you could see how easy it is to apply the oil drops. Summary: overall, I couldn't be happier with this treadmill. For form factor, function and ease of use, I think this company hit this one out of the park. For this price point in the treadmill market, this treadmill checked off all the boxes for me. It seems very well built and manufactured and a lot of thought went into the functionality. You get a lot for the price point for such a solid treadmill. I'm definitely happy that I chose to go with this famistar treadmill. I honestly would give it more than five stars if I could. ... show more

  • Not 15% incline not even close
Item Shape: FA-T600
This is NOT 15% incline... NOT EVEN CLOSE. If you are looking for a high quality treadmill with Incline options this is not the machine for you. The inline at max is probably closer to a 3 on a normal treadmill. This also Came with several cracks, and the screen was shorter out continues to make loud static noise. The actual treadmill you run on is incredibly short and stout. I can't imagine trying to actually run on this thing. I can't beleive I paid 700 dollars for this.... If I had spent 150-200 i would have expected this type of quality Only positive was a moderate amount of difficulty setting up. Nothing special not a breeze just not difficult. ... show more

  • We live in an age of incompetence
Item Shape: FA-T600
So the machine is nice looks great. And nice quaility. The company needs to fire whoever wrote their instructions. Its vague and wrong. The belt is out of line when you get it. Lubing the belt has no measurement and leaks lube everywhere under the machine even with a couple of drops. Trying to align the belt ripped up the belt edges following their wrong instructions. And by the way they arent screws they are bolts. Learn your jargon before writing this or get a hetter google translate from chinese to english. Im going to have to return the whole thing for a new one because the instructions are just completed wrong and unclear. Your fault and my inconvenience. Have to wait anoth couple weeks to get an new one and stsrt the whole process over. Fix your belt adjustment system and fire the instruction writer. Rewrite it and include a higher quality allen wrench since its needed to do regular maintenance on the treadmill. ... show more
