I have wanted a cannister vac for a while, and finally decided on this one. The price was good, it had the attachments I wanted and looked like it had everything I needed. OH MY GIDDY AUNT! I cannot believe how great the suction is, and how QUIET it is! Even my cats aren't terrified of it. It's compact, lightweight and rolls easily. The only slight downside is the cord isn't as long as my old upright, but I can totally deal with that for all the plusses this brings.     • The best vacuum I’ve purchased

It’s now my 2 year anniversary of buying this vacuum so I feel like I can leave an honest review. PROS: easy to carry, great suction power-even with pets! Retractable cord, simple to clean, no clogging CONS: when in rest the hose doesn’t have a great place to stay stored, will suck up anything in its patch when you detach the flat vacuum part and it’s just the hose so watch out This is, hands down, the best vacuum I’ve ever purchased. I bought this in January of 2022. I had a Dyson Ball I wanted to replace (waste of money). I had 3 cats and a dog at the time so there was tons of fur plus the kids tiny toys everywhere. The Dyson was constantly getting clogged. And I’d have to take the whole thing apart to unclog it. It seemed like every vacuum I’ve had lasted for 1-2 years, no matter the price. I remembered those canister vacuums from the 50’s that could inhale the curtains if you got too close. So I started looking for one. There are a few high priced canister vacuums that are popular but I couldn’t (and don’t want to) lay down another $300-400 on one. I came across this vacuum and another, similar version but decided based on reviews that I’d give this a try. I vacuum every 2-3 days. This thing is amazing. It is so simple. Just what I wanted, no bells and whistles. Just suction and an easy way to dump the contents. I never used the attachments on other vacuums, though this one does have 2 attachments built in to the hose which is cool. There’s a hose that’s attached to the canister and that’s it. No filters or kinks for things to get stuck in on the hose. The hose is also easy to detach from the canister if something did get stuck. The canister has the motor part and a very simple, removable canister that is easy to empty. There is one foam, round filter in the top and another small one where the canister connects. These are easy to clean. It has a retractable cord that hasn’t given me any issues. This is a wonderful, simple vacuum. It does have some power though, so if I get close to the toys they get sucked right up into the canister but it’s super easy to retrieve them. The one and only con I have is that the hose has a tiny little place to connect to the canister portion so it falls off all the time if it’s bumped. This is only when it’s not in use and stored away so I don’t care. ... show more

    • Good but Not Like Older Vacuums

Let me preface this by saying that we have owned a Eureka Model 930 ‘Petlover’ vacuum for about 25 years. It too is bagless and has served us well until last week when it suddenly stopped working. Because we have multiple cats and have to vacuum every day, we panicked. So I quickly researched and purchased this Eureka Whirlwind to take its place. First off, this is an inexpensive unit, about 1/3 the price of our old Petlover, even though that was 25 years ago. Being another Eureka, I thought our original attachments (which work extremely well) would fit the new one. THEY DO NOT! Everything about the Whirlwind is designed specifically for it alone. And although it seems well-designed, the snap-together parts, and there are a lot, are all plastic and don’t have longevity in their DNA. It does work rather well. It has more suction to the point of sucking up our scatter rugs, even on the upholstery setting which provides a little less suction. The collection cup empties easily and the vacuum is a little easier to maneuver, especially if you need to carry the main unit around as you vacuum. But while the head unit works fine on hard surfaces, it doesn’t do so well on carpets. Our old Petlover gathered up much more cat hair and required much less back and forth motion to do so. After using the Whirlwind a couple of times, I took our old Petlover apart and found the problem; a bad on-off switch. I managed to bypass it so the Petlover is now back to work keeping the cat hair to a minimum. I thought of returning this Whirlwind but decided that, for the price, we’d keep it as a spare. Bottom line – it’s not a bad vacuum for the price. It’s just not as good as our old one and I seriously doubt it will last anywhere near as long. But if you need an inexpensive vacuum that does a decent job of basic cleaning, I would recommend it. ... show more
