What we like since we returned the Shark Pro due to poor suction, this Eureka was a great buy, powerful on carpets especially with pet hair and on hardwood floors. There were some concerns regarding how the vac will handle vacuuming up dirt on our tile floors, but the suction was great, the rollers definitely did an amazing job, not just scattering it all over the floor, the main issue with the Shark Pro. The slide up and down feature was useful, it felt gimmicky at first but proved quite useful. Detaching the main unit to use as a handheld is very easy and docking it back same, however, using it as a handheld in my humble opinion is not really practical, it's starts becoming quite heaver and cumbersome after a few minutes. If this is your main goal to use it as a handheld unit, then this might not be for you. ... show more

12/08/25 Since my last review, I was contacted by the manufacturer about the vacuum not doing as well as expected. I was pleasantly surprised with the contact since I had given up. They offered to replace the vacuum, which they did, & though I had doubts when the new one arrived to find that it actually lives up to their promises. The suction was good before, but this one is much better. I love that it actually goes to edge of baseboards, walls, & gets every single speck of dust, fur, etc. Maneuvering is very easy, quiet & the light on the front actually hits the floor in front of the vac instead of up in the air which is of no value in any way. Can’t say enough about how nice & fast customer service worked to help me. This is a great vacuum & the company stands by their product! ... show more

I could not get the screws to go into the handle of the Eureka "Pet Upright Vacuum Cleaner for Carpet and Hard Floor, OmniVerse NEU801BL with QuickShift Technology, Blue." So I called the toll-free help line - who was no help at all. They suggested I go to the hardware store and get longer screws. I did that - and discovered the problem is that the screw hole was drilled wrong. One of the new bolts fit in - but the other side did not. Okay, so I asked to return it. They said I'd have to package it up in a box and apply a mailing label. Well, once you "click" the handle into the base, you can't "unclick" it - so it doesn't fit in the box! Meanwhile I still don't have a functioning vacuum cleaner. What a waste of time and money! UPDATE: The return went well, and to my surprise, Eureka replaced the vacuum cleaner. The second one assembled as promised and I think I understand the problem - there are two small nuts taped into place that the handle bolts are supposed to go into - the first one I got didn't have those screws - it was just open. Now that I was able to assemble and use it - WHAT A VACUUM! I'm amazed at how much dust it sucked out of my carpet! Seems to be handling the combination of my daughter's long hair and the copious fur shed by my Bernese Mountain Dog on a daily basis. Powerful. The head is kinda small (width-wise) but I guess it gets into smaller areas more easily that way. Fits under my furniture easily. The only thing I don't really like about it, is that you have to detach the entire canister assembly WITH THE CORD STILL ATTACHED to empty it. However, it does a fantastic job picking up the dog hair and dust out of my old carpets. ... show more

Worst vacuum I have ever owned. First of all, the hose can only be attached if you lift the canister off the base, making it impossible to easily switch from vacuuming floors to vacuuming corners. Second of all, when the canister is emptied, the end piece on it easily falls off because it doesn't clip on to the canister, it only slides on. Third of all, the motor is too large for the canister and dirt gets trapped between it and the canister's plastic wall. The one bright spot in owning it is that it is so cheaply made, that you only have to use it for six months before it breaks, and then you get to buy something better. ... show more

Works pretty well in upright mode. "Motorized Pet and Stair Tool" attachment is garbage. The agitator on this attachment spins until it contacts any surface and just stops.

Very easy to assemble, a few clicks and done! The design is sleek and lightweight and when the power is turned on, is super quiet. The small swivel head makes it easy to switch directions, go around corners, and get between small spaces. The canister is easy to remove and also adjusts to a high upright position so you can reach further under your couches. The vacuum quality is excellent and picks up everything you don’t want on your carpet. The cord is extra long so you won’t need to constantly switch outlets. I have owned a cleaning company for a decade. I have always used shark. I end up replacing them yearly. Decided to change it up and bought this Eureka. I set it up and took it for a test of some dirty floors covered with pet hair, leaves, small rocks, dirt, and stuffing from a dog toy. Let me tell you, this vacuum picked it all up in one swipe and even got the edges next to baseboards without getting out the hand tool. It's about the same weight as my shark vertex ( lightweight stick vacuum). The pet/stairs attachment is larger than shark and actually works great! The power cord is long!!! I can do three rooms without changing plug ins at each room. It has a small hook to hold the cord up while your cleaning. The dust cup removes and empties easily. Great suction. Overall, I am happy with my new purchase. If this holds up for at least a year, then I will continue buying Eureka vacuums. Already totally sold on the functionality and ease of use.
