There's a footprint on the front that you step on to release and it works but it sounds like something is going to break. I've only had it a week or 2 and so far it seems good. It's light weight which I needed because of my shoulders and the pain. So this is easier to push. I liked the lights in the front but the only thing is I don't like that you have to push your foot on the front of vacuum to make it go back before you vacuum!! I thought there was a pedal but nope. It sounds like it's going to break everytime I do it and you have no choice, you have to do it in order to vacuum! So we will see about this vacuum as time goes on. Also the one attachment piece for vacuuming couch or stairs , that falls off front non stop and it doesn't stay. It fell off the last time and all the pieces came apart! And it fell on carpet before I even started to vacuum. So not sure how to get it back together now! So a few things I'm not happy with and sometimes I wonder how good the strength is as far a sucking up cat hair and stuff. It's so light weight but I change the controls on it and it seems ok but Again I wanted to try it because of lights. I have 2 cats shedding right now so I hope it's really doing its job. But not a bad vacuum. My house is all carpet except the kitchen so I need a powerful vacuum that lasts longer then months or a year. Oh and the rewind cord I love! No more dragging cords or having to wrap it! So just find a different spot for the one piece because mine never stays. Other then that it's fine! ... show more

I’ve had this vacuum for 1 year and 4 months. I always wait a decent period of time before I review items. Pros: Lightweight. Cord rewind. Decent suction. Easy to clean. The vacuum is lightweight and easy to carry around by the handle on top of the canister. I have 2 yellow labs so good suction was a must. It definitely takes care of the fur on the floors and the furniture. I like the cord rewind but it feels weird that it is on the opposite side as the button used to rewind it. I LOVE how easily the canister and the parts inside come apart for a thorough cleaning, so that odors do not build up inside. Cons: Lock Mechanism broke after 1 year, one of the attachment mounts on the side of the canister broke off in the first week. The hose is too short and the attachment that comes with it is also too short. I cannot even go up a standard 8’ wall to get cobwebs out of corners. The vacuum does not “lay down” far enough to get under beds or tables. The lock mechanism that keeps the vacuum upright broke after about a year. I have no kids, it has not been handled roughly. So now if I need to use attachments I have to lay it down on the floor. The mounts for the attachments are plastic and very weak. I bumped the wall within the first week and one broke right off. The hose is definitely too short and not flexible enough. There is no hope vacuuming under beds or coffee tables, or any semi-low piece of furniture. When using the hose/attachments it falls over (even before the lock mechanism broke) because it is so lightweight. I had high hopes for this vacuum, I wish it was sturdier. ... show more

I usually have a hard time assembling even the simplest thing, but with this vacuum, everything either pops in or snaps on. Very easy to assemble. Lightweight and cleans well. Happy with purchase.

Where do you start when something is this bad. Lightweight, yes it is, when you use the attachments/hose it is constantly falling over due to the lightweight nature of the unit. The hose for the attachments is too short. The bristles on the brush are also too short, rather than being a brush it is more of a scraper. The crevice tool is too wide, it needs to be thinner so it can actually get into a crevice. Once you remove the handle for the attachments, how are you supposed to move the vacuum cleaner around? What if you need to move it up or down the stairs while using the attachment handle, there is no way to pick it up if the handle is out and being used. The suction control on the end of the hose will not stay in one position, opened or closed, you are constantly losing suction. The cord being on the right side of the vacuum cleaner is always getting tangled up or in the way. Why did it get moved from the left side? The foot control to lower the unit for use is terrible. It feels as though you are going to break it by stepping on it and the loud snap it makes once it does move sounds as though you already have broken it. The dust cup inside the canister will become plugged with even the smallest piece of paper, greatly reducing the suction. It does pick up pet hair, which quickly gets caught and tangled in/on the dust cup, again reducing the suction. From the start the suction of the vacuum is/was O.K., but nothing great or spectacular. This vacuum cleaner feels cheap in every bad sense of the word. I would avoid this one at all costs, it is not a good vacuum cleaner and right out of the box it feels as though it will not last very long. The only good thing on it are the LED lights, they are good and bright, so you can really see what this vacuum cleaner is not picking up. ... show more

I had high hope about the potential of this vacuum, based upon the great quality and performance of my old, heavy beast of a Eureka. My old model is still going strong after many years, but my back just can't handle the weight of the machine any longer. I was excited about the lightweight feature of this model, but have to say I was very disappointed in the suction and maneuverability of this model. I ended up buying this vacuum, along with the Shark Navigator and compared side-by-side for performance. The Eureka makes a horrible clicking sound, when releasing the handle for floor vacuuming. It sounded as it were about to break each time I tried it. It's suction was weak, the maneuverability was challenging and cutting of hair wrap was just as tedious as with my older model. I did the same number of sweeps on each room, to ensure I could accurately compare the performance. The Eureka picked up far less fur, dirt and dust than the Shark. The only features I liked about the vacuum was it's light weight & rewinding cord. The Shark won by a mile! It's lightweight, with effortless maneuverability, powerful suction and a groove on the roller to allow for easy cutting of any hair wrap. I used a letter opener to follow the groove and cut the hair, which was fast & easy. The only feature the Shark lacked was the auto rewind cord. It's a great feature to have, but I can live without it. It's cost was significantly higher, but if you watch sales & used coupons/perks, it's obtainable at a reasonable price. Absolutely awesome! I love the retractable cord! It is easy to empty and doesn’t need putting back together like my old vac. It really sucks up the dirt. The handle comes off to make a long handle! Price is right too!

I highly recommend buying this vacuum. I've been buying Hoover products for years and decided to go back to Eureka. I like that it has a lot of suction, a retractable cord, a canister instead of a bag and is lightweight. Hoover has that too, but after making comparisons, I'm sure I bought the right product.
