I rarely leave reviews but this bag is simply beautiful! I had originally ordered the Campus Hobo but that was too large for me. Also, this style suits me better due to the cross-body option, though the Campus Hobo was very nice. It is of very high quality and well-made- just what you would expect from Frye. The leather is beautiful, and the size is perfect for what I was looking for. The color "slate" is probably misleading since most people would think of gray but I love the color. It is a rich dark brown, distressed looking. It is a fairly large bag but it is very comfortable as a cross-body. I am 5'3 and have to have the strap on the smallest size so it may hang low for some people, but it is an easy fix to make another hole in the strap, if necessary. I am also going to order the matching wallet/wristlet because I think when going out it will be a nice option to carrying the whole bag. Buy this bag! You won't regret it!! ... show more

    • Can't reach the shipper over a month still waiting for credit
Color: Lavender
Returned and still waiting for a credit. They have had it it for a month and say it will be another 7 to 10 days. I couldn't reach the shipper and had to contact Amazon directly. The handbag was nice but too heavy for me. Worst service I've had via the internet in a long time...

The bag itself is well-made, packaged nicely and is designed well. The problem I had is that the color shown on the page is very different than the actual bag. I ordered the slate color and expected it to look slightly washed as in the photo. In reality, it was very beaten-up looking. Much more casual than I wanted in this color bag. I decided to return in and ordered it in dark brown instead. I like it much better now. I found online a photo showing a more accurate representation of the color and posted it next to a photo of what I was expecting. ... show more

Frye bags are a little pricey, but the quality is better than other brands offer in the same price range- so worth the money in my opinion. Also, if you watch the prices you can often get what you are looking for on sale, as I did with this one, at over $100 off list price. The leather is stunning- high-quality with an amazing antique finish that ends up looking better as you wear it. This design is simple and very comfortable tucked under my arm (I wear it without the optional long strap), it's easy to get in and out of with the magnetic closure- and is exactly what I was looking for. I have two of this style in different colors and a couple Frye Melissa satchels, which I don't like as well as this Melissa Hobo due to the satchel being heavier and harder to get in and out of. Also, I want to note that this most recent Frye bag of mine did NOT come with a signature Frye key fob as my other bags had in the past. I called Frye customer service and was told that the newer designs do not come with the key fob anymore, but the rep was very kind to send me a matching complimentary one for my bag free of charge. ... show more

I love this bag. The burgundy color is beautifully, with that slightly distressed look typical of Frye. It fits perfectly on my shoulder, without the long strap. Big and sturdy enough to fit many things, but doesn't look silly with just a few. Perfect.
