Why did you pick this product vs others?: A great value. My Dyson Micro has a broken clip that holds the battery in place, but since it is out of warranty, the cost to replace the battery was $130. So, I started looking at vacuums under $150. I prefer a corded canister vacuum anyway, and I don't necessarily need a bagless vacuum. I surely wasn't going to wait for the new Dyson pencil vac—and who knows how astronomical in price that will be. Vacuum quality: My only complaint is the Floor nozzle, it seems to get in the way of picking up fine and small particles on my hard tile floors. But the suction is sufficient, even though the motor is only 800 watts, that machine as plenty of power especially when I use the other attachments such as the crevice tool and the dusting brush. I haven't tried the Pet tool yet, since I don't have pets. But I do have asthma and this vacuum is coming in handy for keeping the dust levels in my home down to a minimum. Dust collection: The Eureka caught my eye, it looked similar to Miele canister, had a long cord length, and automatic cord winder, a few bags are included, HEPA filter, and it is Quiet. I live in an upstairs apartment, and the only sound from the machine that's louder than the motor are the wheels rolling on the floor while the machine is on. It's a great vacuum. Yes it is plasticky, but what do you expect from a Vacuum this inexpensive? I expect to take care of the vacuum and keep up with the maintenance of replacing the filters and bags. Use: I did look at the other Eureka canister vacuums, and they seem good as well, such as the Mighty Mite and the bagless canisters which look compact. The Eureka NEN170 I have isn't as compact, but it is small enough to hide in closet, and light enough to carry around and do above floor cleaning.

My needs - I have a house with laminate flooring and large and small rugs, wool and synthetic, carpeted stairs, and upstairs is entirely carpet. (I haven't tried cleaning the car yet, no doubt that's going to be a success.) First off, this machine has outstanding suction. I've had it one week and there's a lever on the top you can push to allow air flow for vacuuming back and forth or just single flow for straight suction and it get the job done. There is so much suction created around it that it's even coated in wool rug fibers or dog hair that didn't make it inside. I don't even need to go back twice, the suction is so good. Be prepared, it feels incredibly lightweight, maybe even cheap. I thought, how can this thing be well made? But it does everything I need it to do. The lightweight factor is wonderful when vacuuming each carpeted stair and dragging it up and down the stairs. So, this is actually a huge plus. There are 2 pipes that you connect for length when vacuuming the floor. On the stairs I take one pipe out and the length is perfect. The head is wide enough that it's effective for vacuuming (again, one stroke works for my short length rugs), but it's flat enough that it fits under everything - low chairs, couches, etc. If I push the lever on the head down flat, I can't draw it back and forth easily (the suction is too strong), but it's flat, so I can push it waaay back under the couches and get that dust that is so hard to reach without moving the couches. This is a big plus for me. The pipes all connect by friction, just pushing them together. Sometimes they pop off if you catch something and pull too hard, but my last ($450) vacuum (which was heavier but I loved) broke beyond repair when the connector to the head snapped where there was a locking mechanism, and that part is now discontinued. So frustrating!! So, this little vacuum seems like it will be less likely to "snap" anywhere because the parts will disconnect under pressure. I hope that turns out to be the case. My son assembled the unit and I used it right away. Forgot to add a bag and I was very upset - but the bag is inside already! Well done, Eureka!! The cons to this machine, as far as I can tell after multiple uses in the first week, are that there is no automatic cord winding mechanism. But, the cord is longer than my last machine - if I plug it in the middle of the house, it reaches the ends of both sides of the house. Obviously this depends on your home, but my other vacuum was just a few feet short. I can then also vaccum the entire stairs and then move the cord 1 time to get the entire house. I don't like winding the cord, so in a pile it goes if I'm lazy. Worth it for not having to move that cord!! This is not a self propelled machine. You must push the vacuum, it does not "propel" itself with a turning brush. There is a brush, but it's not motorized. I am a reasonably strong 40+ woman and I am happy to push it, but if you have medical issues and can't push it, this could be a more physical job. I expect vacuuming to be work, so I'm fine with this and feel the low cost is worth it. I believe it also is related to the reduced weight of the machine and its tools. I hope this review is thorough and helpful for those making a decision. I never purchase warranties, but given the lightweight nature of this machine, I think I would have considered it. I paid $81 for this machine after taxes. I would definitely be described as frugal and cost conscious. Considering the varied reviews and high cost of other well rated machines, I am very happy with my purchase! I don't write reviews very often, but I want other consumers to know the pros and cons so they can make an educated decision.

this vacuum is so light and has the best suction! It actually sucks up the rugs even when you set the attachment for rug & open the suction control on the handle. The only drawback is that all the parts need to be stored (maybe an extra bag?) but it fits in a closet easily. The cord is 20 feet but not as long as my other canister vac. I'm able to get under furniture & my new bathroom vanity, whereas I cannot do that with my other Kenmore canister vac. Great for the car too. Buy it!

Good for solid surface floors, not great on large rugs or carpet. As other reviews have said, the handle and wand does come apart when you vacuum. Easy to put back together, and easy to pull apart to vacuum up anything the floor tool will not pick up. The floor tool does not have a brush so it is not great on carpet. It will pick up some debris on my carpet but I have to use another vacuum on carpet. It does fine on small area rugs, but not on my room size area rugs. The suction is good and it is fine for solid surface floors. I believe it would be good for car's as well. The cord is long and the hose is long so I think it would be easy to vacuum out a car. The combination tool does not stay attached. The crevice tool does stay in. It does use bags and comes with a bag installed and 3 extra bags. I will use it in my basement which is all solid surface, and for the cars. I think it is fine for the price.

Best vacuum! I love that it is EASY and I can carry it around the house, or roll it on wheels. The long attachment makes it easy to clean. Have had it for a few years now, use it often, and it is still like new. It is smaller, so it doesn't take up unnecessary space. Got this after seeing a professional cleaning company strictly use this style. Sucks up all the cat hair and dirt the animals bring into the house. Picks up the dirt in the corners with ease.
