  • Must have for sourdough.
Color: Light Blue
Five stars for this beautiful pot. It really keeps in that necessary steam for the perfect sourdough loaf without the messy pans of water, ice cubes, or wet towels so often recommended. My loaves come out high and crispy every time. It’s so much easier to use. This is a big pot with room for a large loaf. It is heavy - it’s cast iron, after all. The turquoise color is so pretty. I smile each time I use it. It also cleans up easily after baking. I just let it cool, then run a damp towel over it to remove any crumbs that may have stuck. I’ve used it a dozen times and haven’t washed it yet. No need to. ... show more

  • So much easier than baking bread in a Dutch oven, and has multiple other uses.
Color: Red
I am 79 years old and have quite a lot of experience with baking sour dough and other Artisan breads using home milled flours and long fermentation methods. I stopped maintaining a sour dough starter since I was using more flour to maintain the starter than what I used for baking bread. Since then, I have used flour milled from whole grains and the long fermentation method with excellent results without having to maintain a starter. Many have been baked in the standard Dutch oven. The downside of using a standard Dutch oven is getting the loaf out of the Dutch oven without getting burned. This Dutch oven with the lower sides is so much easier. I do suggest that it is oiled before baking bread to make removal of the bread and cleanup easier. I also have a few name brand Dutch ovens, and I find the quality of this less expensive Dutch oven comparable in quality and baking ability. In my experience, I have found that humidity is required for the initial oven spring that raises the loaves in the first 10-15 minutes of baking. This can be done by spritzing the sides of the oven every 7 minutes or placing a pan of water in the oven. With this baker, the humidity required for oven spring is maintained with the domed cover. This is so much less messy than the other two methods. The capacity of this Dutch oven is great for baking a good sized loaf and also works for a number of different functions. For example, baking a roast or chicken in this Dutch oven will produce moist and tender meats. Crisping can be done at the end of the baking. This Dutch oven is heavy, but then all cast iron is. The weight comes with the territory to produce superior, moist meats and breads. I do have a few Dutch oven of different size in the name brands, and this Dutch oven seems to be of similar quality. I will update this review if my opinion changes. As a sidenote, I bought this Dutch oven in red and another in Orange from the same seller. I honestly can't tell the difference in color. I hope this review was helpful for you ... show more

  • This Dutch Oven Didn’t Just Bake Bread — It Raised My Standards for Myself
Color: Light Blue
Somewhere between watching steam rise from a fresh 12-grain boule and hearing the crack of crust as it cooled, I realized this pot had officially joined the short list of things I’d grab in a house fire. Let’s start with the color: deep, rich blue with just the right amount of enamel gloss to feel like you have your life together — or at least like you're trying. It sits on the stove like it owns the place, and honestly? It kind of does. Now the performance: I use this primarily for bread, specifically a homemade 12-grain boule that I pretend is rustic and wholesome but is really just my ADHD therapy project in edible form. This Dutch oven nails it every time. The size (6 quarts) is perfect — not too cavernous, not too shallow. Just enough to let your dough rise into the kind of round, radiant loaf that says: yes, I do read ingredient labels, and no, I’m not going back to store-bought. Heat distribution? Even. Steam retention? Excellent. Cleaning? Surprisingly chill, as long as you don’t treat it like a steel pan from 1994. It’s sturdy without being a wrist injury. It holds heat like it’s personal. And it does all of this without the premium price tag that usually comes with cookware that has a French name and generational baggage. I haven’t made chili in it yet, but let’s not kid ourselves — that’s only because I’m still too focused on baking loaves and pretending I’m in a cottagecore montage. Final note: if you’re on the fence, wondering if you need a dedicated bread pot — you do. This one. Right here. Skip the influencer-stamped $400 ones and go with this hardworking, beautiful beast that just quietly delivers. This isn’t a purchase. It’s a culinary turning point. ... show more

  • Perfect for a Sourdough Loaf
Color: Light Blue
Beautifully made. It is only for bread at our home. The care recommendations suggest a light oiling which I am not doing. Parchment paper is ideal for my sourdough and the Dutch oven just needs a slight wiping. There is never a need to wash which eliminates the risk of chipping my enamel sink or this beautiful Dutch oven. ... show more

  • Pretty and functional
Color: Light Blue
Love it! I'm newish to sourdough baking and love this pan. I find it easier to load the dough and remove the bread than I do in my when using my traditional Dutch oven. The bread bakes well with great rise and beautiful color. The base of the pan worked perfectly when I baked a small pizza with a sourdough crust. The crust baked fluffy and tender with a delicious crispy crust. Besides the functionality, this pan is so pretty and looks great on a shelf in my kitchen. ... show more

  • A MUST for home bread bakers!
Color: Red
Everything about this pot is PERFECT! I cannot love it more! The price seems too good to be true for the value. I have a very high end Dutch oven deep stew pot and this one is just as good if not better. It’s perfect for bread baking. It also cleans very easy and after about 2 dozen uses, still looks and performs perfectly! If you’re a bread maker, GET THIS, you can’t beat this pot for the value! ... show more
