We just had this item installed and hardwired into our garage in order to charge our new EV. We have a 200 amp service panel, so this item, rather than the “Pro” model fit our needs perfectly. Once installed, setup via wifi connection was quite easy. The Emporia app prompts you along, step by step. We purchased the hardwire model in order to take advantage if the 48 amp charging, by using a 60 amp breaker installation. However, in our area in Oregon, electrical code restricts break size to 50amp, and 40 amp charge rate. Having known this prior, I would have opted for the wall plug model using the NEMA 15-40 plug. Aside from that, this is a very good choice for anyone needing a home EV charger. Setup is simple, instructions are clear, and it allows you see charge cost by state by KWh or $’s. The 3 year warranty is a big plus, too. Emporia has changed the plug holder as the NACS model now has a separate wall attachment for rolling the 25’ cord around, and if installed outside, a plug in point to keep plug end clean. The WiFi is a nice option as you can remotely control the charger, turn it on/off, change settings, duration of charge, etc. overall, very pleased with the product, performance and all it offers. My only advice is to have this installed by a licensed electrician, to code, with needed permits as this is a real safety item. And, validate if your ares electrical codes authorize a 60 amp breaker for hardwire chargers. This will make a difference in cost if you have it professionally installed. Overall, really recommend this product.

Really happy with the Emporia Classic Level 2 charger. This was a big upgrade from Level 1 — charging is fast, consistent, and it’s honestly just taken the friction out of owning an EV. I plug in and don’t think about it anymore. I went with the hardwired NACS version, which feels a lot cleaner and more permanent in the garage. The unit itself is simple, solid, and doesn’t try to do too much. The app is one of the best parts. Super easy to use, lets me track energy usage, and schedule charging around off-peak hours without any hassle — which matters with how Dakota Electric structures rates. One thing that stood out — my electrician actually recommended Emporia because of its reliability. He mentioned he gets more callback issues with Tesla and Wallbox chargers, which definitely gave me confidence in going this route. Overall, it just works. No issues, no overcomplication, and a really strong value for what you get. Exactly what I was looking for.

This charger is perfect for my needs. It was easy to install, easy to set up, and it works. I love that I get a monthly report of how much I spent on power to charge my car. Really helps me show off the efficiency to my gasser friends. (Kinda kidding...) I use this NACS plug with an adapter to J1772 for my Chevy Bolt. I wanted to get a charger that would work with all of the cars on the market, and which would be future proof since the world is going NACS. I've not had a single problem with this charger in that configuration, and have been completely happy that it works with my Bolt. I've not had a chance to try it with a NACS vehicle, but am confident that it will work in that config as well, without the adapter. Connected it to my WiFi and haven't had a SINGLE problem with it becoming disconnected. I very much appreciate that as it was a constant problem with my previous charger. The app can be a little clunky, but I'm not even going to take a star off for that, since it's designed to work with more than just their EV charger...if I had more Emporia stuff, I'd really appreciate having all of the information in a single app. Given all the company sells, the app seems designed well. The cord is WAAAAAY longer than I need for my garage, but I can pull the cord out and under my garage door to charge guests' cars, so I appreciate the long cord. It isn't the cheapest charger on the market, but my friend who just got a newer EV decided to go with this EVSE as well, because he saw the data I pulled off mine in my app, so I'd say it's worth it. It's not the most expensive charger on the market, either.

The emporia classic charger works as well as I hoped. I had the electrician installed the full 60 amp breaker for my setup allowing me to select the output for a full 48amp/11.3 KWH charge. Registering for an account with emporia and connecting the charger to my home WiFi network was an intuitive breeze. I was plugging in and charging my EV within 2 minutes after the electrician finished the install. The Emporia app is simple and offers plenty of information to the user. After connecting it, it the app and charger were aware of my current electric supplier and already had an estimated KWH price built in (which can be adjusted if incorrect). App will track what it cost for each individual charging session. You can easily see the savings from refueling a traditional gas vehicle. Overall, 1 month into purchasing and I’m very happy with the charger. Works great. I would recommend to others.

Looked around for a good charger that wasn't too expensive and this one kept coming up so I gave it a go. This is my first EVSE and so far it has been flawless. I got it installed professionally and LADWP has a rebate program which basically made the installation and unit free. My car constantly charges at 11.25kw-11.5kw which is fantastic. I don't technically need to charge this fast since it's about 20 miles round trip everyday for work but it's nice to have. The app is good and shows all the stats I would need. It's also easy to set up schedules for time of use plans. I think the app has everything you might want to manage an EVSE. I didn't use the included cable management and instead use another one I purchased separately. I wanted something that wouldn't stick out as might when I put the plug into the holder. The cable and plug feel good. I don't know much about how good they are but from what I researched, should be very good. Overall, I think the unit looks good and works as expected. Charges my car when I need it and stays out of the way when I don't. Can't ask for more from a EVSE.

This was no more difficult to wire up than an outlet, just needed some bigger wire nuts for the connections than what I had on hand. Works great! Simple design with a cord hook to mount up separately. I have a 60a circuit running this charger and it consistently gives the 11.7kwh charging rate and will charge my EV9 overnight no problem. I was able to install this my myself and no issues with functionality so far. I paired it with the Emporia Vue to monitor overall power consumption and throttle down the charger based on loads due to my undersized 125A panel.

This is a great charger, easy to install, and I love the app, which allows you to control the charger and see its consumption. Super easy to install. I only give 4 stars because the charging holder to put the charger when not in use is a joke. It looks and feels like someone used their home 3d printer to make it. Redicoulus. For the money this charger costs, you could supply a real cradle! Something sturdy, so I wouldn't have had to buy this separately from some 3rd party. Kinda silly! Rest is good, though.
