I ordered the CPTDCL Electronic Descaler Water conditioner, 12 V with shell for $42.99. I couldn’t be happier!! I ordered it on 8/10 and it arrived on 8/13. I used two wire ties and a piece of foam behind it to attach it to the water pipe. I also used four wire ties for attaching the wire - one at each end. I was very careful to wind the wires very closely and in the direction shown in pictures of other descalers – from the front on one side and from the back on the other, as in my photo. It takes a while to wrap the wires – I needed to wind them on a small piece of cardboard first to keep them in hand. It was well worth the effort to do a good job. I am thrilled that in less than 8 days after installation the sinks are sparkling, and my hair is silkier after shampooing! The problem that led me to this purchase in the first place was the noise coming from the corrugated pipes for my water heater. I bought the water heater in 2018 and about 5 months ago a humming sound started coming from the new corrugated pipes the installers added for water coming in and leaving the heater. It got so loud that I could hear from upstairs every time I turned on the hot water. I figured that calcium must have been building up in the corrugations of the pipe and hoped that the descaler would remove the calcium. I am so happy that the sound is now gone! Proof that the pipes actually were cleaned out by the water! My water is not terribly hard – not like when our town had well water, but hard enough to leave deposits on my sinks, faucets, shower stall, and in those pipes! I couldn’t see spending up to $300 for some of the other available descalers. The $43 I paid is much more reasonable for a gadget that puts an magnetic current in the water. I tested the electrical current, and the unit only takes half a watt. There are two dim blue lights that indicate the electricity is flowing. For all the bad reviews, the writers must not have installed the wires correctly. Also, when they say they tested for hardness, yes, the calcium is still there, it is just not wanting to stick to things. ... show more

so I just purchased this. I am an engineer, and have an understanding eddy currents. i was curious whether this would do anything to the water. after installing it, I can't tell if it is working or not! the LEDs come on, but the "basic" install manual states they will be flashing! they don't. unplug the wires and the LEDs go off. so its obvious they complete the circuit. The only way I know of that I might be able to test this is by putting a compass next to the coils. I did so, and there was no effect. If there was a significant eddy current running in the wires then the compass would have moved around. So at this point, I would say this unit is either defective, or the design had NEVER worked and customers really don't know.... snake oil effect. ... show more

I want to share some important information I have learned after purchasing this product, which applies equally to all of the other electronic descalers. * If your house has plastic pipes, no problem, you can put it on the cold water line where water enters the house. * If the house has copper pipes, use it only on the HOT side of the system, and use the cold water for drinking and cooking. 90% of the scale forms on the hot water pipes; very little on the cold side. If you descale the already-clean cold water pipes, there is a possibility of leaching lead and copper into your drinking water (US houses with copper pipes that were built before ~1980 have lead in the connections between pipes). * If you put it on an iron pipe, it will not work. ... show more

    • Functional alternative to salt-zeolite softeners.
Result after 1 week's use: the old hard water problems with scale and waterspots are diminishing. Shower walls and shaving mirror aren't spotting up. Hair feels silkier. I hope the descaled water is kinder to my skin. My water hardness is ~200ppm (~12 gpg) with iron. I use copper pipes and a sediment filter. Will report again later after I evaluate the scale problem in the tankless water heater. Update 3/15/24: Still looks positive: it's easier to keep the shower surfaces clean than before, and soap scum releases and washes down the drain instead of sticking in a bathtub ring. The kitchen sink and its faucets don't scale up as much as before. ... show more

    • Hardly to be fixed
The coin is difficult to install since the narrow gap between pipeline to wall. It's hard to connect wire with device. Need others to help. There is no enough parts to help fixed on pipes and wall. I hope it works well.

This product is highly effective. After installing it in the water pipe, my wife noticed a change in the taste of the water that very night. Over time, I observed a reduction in water scale, and the TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) value of the water purifier dropped by more than half. Comes with no installation manual for doesn wire loop over or under .4 outlet with 2 wires how do I wire it in the controller?.wire is near impossible to wrap on an existing pipe it keeps unraveling.you need 10" of exposed pipe at least so it had excess wire on 8"

    • No water spots on glassware or automobiles!
I installed it 1pm. My wife turned on the dishwasher a few hours later and the glassware and dishes were crystal clear, sparkling! They always were cloudy with hard water... not spots... completely covered! Same with washing the cars the next day. Totally satisfied. There aren't really instructions. I barely stripped the wire ends, maybe not even 1/8 inch and pushed them in the smaller holes in the device. They have stayed in place just fine. When you do that the two LEDs go from barely glowing to BRIGHT! and that indicates it's connected properly. The instructions say place the two coils more than 1/2" apart. The inbound water line has some fittings (one is a long pressure valve) so I had no choice but to separate them by a little over 6" I guess the spacing isn't much of an issue, the results couldn't have been better. I was prepared to try it for a few weeks and then return it. Thought the whole things was goofy. It works. ... show more
