  • Excellent Cordless Vacuum a worthy competitor to Dyson vacs
Color: Walnut Brown Style: Complete Home
This is a review of Electrolux cordless vac - the TLDR is I like it a lot. But first I wanted to bring up Dyson as it is the relevant competition. I have been a long time Dyson cordless vac user so I'm well qualified to write this review. I used the Dyson v8 for many years and now I use a Dyson v12 Detect Slim. I have a love / hate relationship with Dyson products. They can be great, but they frequently have some issues and the Dyson customer service is just awful. Google it. Long wait times. Replacement parts that never become available . Personally, I'm excited for a strong competitor to Dyson vacs to enter the market because I think Dyson would benefit from the competition, and I think this Electrolux is a strong competitor. I have been using this Electrolux daily for a few months and it has grown on me over time and I really like it now. At first, i was a bit skeptical. The head of the vac was a bit smaller than the Dyson vac, and the perceived suction power/noise is lower than the Dyson's at the highest settings. I think the vac is really elegantly designed in a lot of ways. It is light weight and the maneuverability is excellent. I love the design of the dust bin! It has a mechanism to trap the dirt on the bottom of the bin, which is brilliant. I find dumping the bin also a much better experience than the Dyson experience. As anyone with a hardwood floor knows, the key to dyson vacs is the fluffy head roller, and here the Electrolux also has developed a satisfying experience as well, with a great fluffy head roller for wood floors. On our carpets, I continue to be amazed by how much lint and dirt the vac picks up (although the bin does fill quickly when doing the carpets). The charging station is also pretty awesome and I prefer it to the Dyson stands. It is sturdy and feels sophisticated and luxe. Overall, I think this is a terrific cordless vac and we use it daily. I think in many ways the quality and design is better than our Dysons. If I had to quibble, the dust bin could be bigger and on the high end the power could be a touch higher. Great vac. ... show more

  • Light but small receptacle and so so accessories
Color: Ocean Green Style: Standard
All of my existing vacuums are corded. The idea of having a light and sleek, cordless stick vacuum makes sense for quick cleaning and tricky places like the stairs. The outer Electrolux shipping box was thin with poor support. One corner was already torn and patched with tape. The inner stock box was packed well with all recyclable materials, no plastic packaging which was nice to see. Immediately there is a cardboard diagram to help you check what is in the box and how to assume the vacuum. The power adapter had bent prongs. I’m not sure how that happened as it seems like everything had a secure place in the box. We very gently pushed the prongs back to their correct position. It was fairly quick and easy to assemble the pieces. The stick requires 4 hours to charge. Once charged I took it off the stand. Pushing the button at the top of the stand releases only the smaller handheld vacuum. Alternatively the entire stick vacuum can be pulled away from the stand. It is incredibly light (for a vacuum) and the noise is very reasonable compared to my other units. The suction seems pretty strong. It pulls at the thin rugs I have down in the kitchen. The dirt receptacle blocks the view of the nozzle so sometimes it was difficult to quickly aim the vacuum towards food bits on the floor. Emptying the dirt is easy once you find the release bottom under the receptacle. The round shape is a concern to me because I swear it will roll off the counter one day and break. Next I attempted to vacuum a 8’x5’ rug. The suction was so strong I struggled a bit to push forward; pulling backwards was fine. The one rug filled up to the max dirt line so I had to immediately stop and empty the vacuum. I followed up by cleaning the carpeted stairs. It glided much better than the short pile rug and was easy to move from step to step given the light weight. Overall, it’s a good vacuum though I don’t have experience with other stick vacuums. Here are some final thoughts: Pros - good suction and automatic sensing feature adjusts as you change floors - light weight makes it easy to maneuver things like stairs - flexible for taking places like the car and awkward spaces - sound level is decent Cons - price feels a little high compared to other brands - dirt container fills up very quickly and needs constant emptying - brush attachment is ridiculously small and other brush head not included with this version of the model (pictured with asterisk) - battery life is limited, not for complete house cleaning ... show more

  • Fantastic All Around/Electrolux Ultimate700 Home Stick Vacuum
Color: Walnut Brown Style: Complete Home
Awesome to clean with -- I was very happy to get the chance to check out a vacuum cleaner made by one of the industry stalwarts. My corded, upright Hoover is 30 years old and is a workhorse. Have never had a problem with it, not even a belt change. While the Hoover will always have a spot as one of my cleaning tools, I have found that cordless units are very handy to have around. This one is very nice and easy to use. It's pretty quiet for a vacuum cleaner and much quieter than a Dyson (which one of my clients has). It doesn't have that brass, loud sound when turned on that startles every pet in the household. Very easy to maneuver around. It can go completely under my dresser. Love the LED light that helps you see what dust spots you've missed. Comes with three floor heads and four cleaning tools. The angled joint tool was great to use in my car. It has a unique way to store the accessories - they are clipped onto the base of the charging stand. The only issue is not all of the accessories will fit. I think only the nozzle tools are meant to be stored there so you'll have to find another spot for the other pieces. I like that the stand is self-supporting. No need to screw any holes in your walls like some other units. My place is pretty small with all hardwood floors and one low-pile runner. I haven't come close to using a full charge in one session. The manual doesn't seem to indicate just how much time you're likely to have on a full charge (or, at least I couldn't find it after a few read throughs). The one drawback that may be an issue for some is the dust bin has a max level that you shouldn't fill past. It's very a small amount of dust bunnies that it'll hold. My small place fills it up. Emptying the bin is very easy though. Filters are easy to remove and are washable. Overall, a joy to use. ... show more
