The shelves are 8.24" deep. We're going to use this mainly for a bookshelf for our 3.5 year olds growing collection of books. Most of her books will be hanging off the shelf which isn't a deal breaker, but would have been nice for the price if we were given more depth to the shelves. It was easy to assemble but the Styrofoam was covering everything. I recommend wiping the pieces off with a microfiber cloth as you go, not once it's assembled. As pictured, some of the pieces have the pink chipping off already out of the package which was disappointing but will probably be fine. Also looked like some of the pink was scratched off on one of the pieces. But this is for a child and I'm sure she'll scratch it up either way. I intentionally left out a shelf because I don't feel like we'll need so many tiny shelves. I definitely think one of the smaller models would have been too small, I'm glad I went with the 11 shelf model. The exposed screws aren't cute but the pink stickers are kinda weird. I kinda wish the screws were pink or maybe a different way to cover the screws than a sticker. Only other thing is it came with these L brackets and no screw holes to screw them into the back so I'm leaving those out. ... show more

Just arrived today...overall score 9 / 10. PROs: didn't take long to assemble; it's actually very sturdy. It's not heavy at all. SUGGESTION: if you want your books to be uniformly closer to the front of the shelf, use the Styrofoam that comes in the box. Coincidentally, the piece in one end of the box (1st picture with the black end pieces) fits exactly into the shelf area. I broke the other Styrofoam to match for the other shelf. (See pics...) OPTION: the door and magnetic closure are optional. I have a 2nd of these coming and may leave the door off from that one mainly because I went on a small book buying spree...either that or I'll buy a 3rd unit. CONs (which ended up fine IMO): the box had a small tear in it so one piece was a bit "dented"; a few pieces had a very slight defect but happily all those defects landed on the underside or in the back and are not visible. I used a little Simple Green to wipe of the glue from the letter stickers. ... show more

It was easy to put together. Did it in about 50min by myself. The instructions were literally only pictures, I didn't Hate that. Got it done, right. The middle was definitely the challenging part. Don't think it's all the way tightend on there but it's together and doing its job. Couldn't put it together with the one backdrop but I don't mind it being out. And there was No holes for the bracket screws to go in and I have long nails so those tiny screws weren't gonna make it in, so I left them out and we'll see how it goes without them. Lots of space,, needed it for my tiny room! So far I'm super happy with it. ... show more

First let me mention that Step 3 of the assembly instructions is missing that you have to insert back panel F before attaching the top panel B. I read the instructions thoroughly before assembly since I am no pro and realized the omission after doing Step 4. The diagram shows a down arrow and what appears to be panel F but it is not mentioned nor labeled on the diagram. Step 8 and the covers seem to be leftovers for me. The covers are flimsy. Cute shelf. I bought this shelf for my albums and books. 1) It’s very easy to put together, all you need to a screwdriver and a hammer (I used a small metal hammer and a SMALL screwdriver with the one line (idk what to call it) that I found in my dad’s drawer (I’m 14) Putting to together took some time but it was worth is (I think 40min?) Also the instructions are clear and easy to understand. 2) This shelf wasn’t wobbling at all but I’ve seen some reviews say it did; this might be why… it depends where you put the screws into, there is pre-done holes but I didn’t notice till half way through, so I just made sure the side shelve lengths were the same. 3) Books do fit unless you have a REALLY long book, this weight is also good (10pounds on each shelf) I have my heavy albums on the upper shelf and it seems just fine. 4) There isn’t enough stickers but i covers the outside this a blanket so you can’t really see them, but the stickers are easy to put on and better than I expected. ... show more

These are not difficult to put together and they are priced cheap enough. I bought them not to stand up but instead, I wanted them turned on their side so they fit on top of my chest of drawers. I added some rubber stick on feet to keep them from slipping around. They don't move. The only thing that I found as an issue is the instruction stickers place on the finished surface are not easy to get off. Even taking them off with my fingernails proved to be damaging to the some of the finished surfaces. Not an issue with me because I didn't buy these for show but really, there is no need to ever put any stickers on a finished surface. It's one of my pet peeves. ... show more

This bookshelf hold way more than you would expect. It's well made and very sturdy. It wasn't overly complicated to put together and I was able to build it rather quickly. I needed something for a small wall space in my room to hold most of my books and this worked out better than I could have expected it to. I also got one for my sons room to use as a dvd shelf. The only thing is that the top shelf wasn't drilled properly. It sits upside down and shows the unpainted bottom side. I thought I put it together wrong, but my boyfriend put one together as well and it was the same. This is the only small caveat to an otherwise really nice shelf. ... show more

As you can see in the pictures, I use this shelf for everything! I got it about 2 years ago and it’s still doing very well considering how long I’ve had it and the price. I now use it as a night stand as well as storage for my books and I can honestly say this product is versatile and durable. It’s light weight so I’m able to carry it and switch it around my room whenever I want without having to call for help lol.
