I've run my new chipper three times now, each time for probably 90 minutes or so. What a beast. I'm handy around the house, but I'm not an engine expert, not by any means, so I was a bit apprehensive. But I have lots of branches to get rid of, and more to come, so this is really what I needed. After some positive YouTube reviews, I pulled the trigger. So far, so good! Fairly easy to assemble, well packaged. Comes in two boxes, one more of a wooden crate. Bolts, etc., marked for each step. No problem there. Wrenches provided, I used them along with my socket set. Directions not bad. Air filter directions a bit fuzzy, but look at the pictures, it falls into place. After filling it with oil and gas, I cranked it up. Like other reviewers have said, starts on first or second pull. It takes a little more work than I had expected to get things down the chute, you have to kind of help odd shaped things along. If you have 2-2.5 inch branches, no matter how long, it eats those for breakfast. I keep a larger branch aside, probably 3 or 4 inches, that I use as a prod-poker to help get brush and branches into the blades. Haven't had a jam yet, that I'm glad for. You can't help but reach into the chute at times, but the blades are pretty far down there, I haven't felt like I was in any danger of losing a finger or anything. BUT-stuff will come shooting out from time to time, and it is LOUD (I mean REALLY loud), eye and ear protection are a must. Very manageable size and weight, I can roll it down my steep driveway while also carrying a rake or a trash can. One of the handles broke on the foldable bin they include the first time I used it, but that's kind of a throw-in anyway. I bought a 20 gallon trash can at HD that fits perfectly under the chute. I really can't think of a downside, unless it suddenly stops running or something. Warranty seems good, new blades are available online, plus they give you a second set with purchase anyway. Doesn't look like I'll be buying mulch for a while. I had some interaction with customer service, answered my questions promptly, no problems there. Shipped from Irwindale, Ca., so at least there is some U.S. presence Do your research of course, but my experience has been good. Very happy with this well built machine, really gets the job done. UPDATE 5/6/2021: Still happy with machine, only problem I've had is with sharpening blades. I must be bad at it, because don't work very well at all after I sharpen them. I may try to have them professionally done next time. They do seem to run out of blades online a lot lately... Update 9/1/2021: I've been using this a lot lately, clearing out trees and brush. My latest set of blades have lasted a very long time, happy with that. I have had a few jams (machine stops instantly), but they clear out pretty easily once you take off the covers. Takes 20-30 minutes. I also have started putting fresh cut branches down the chute, leaves and all. Still works great. Better if dried, but can't always wait. Feel I've gotten my money's worth and more. 2/3/2022-With the cold weather, I changed the oil, blew out the air filter and stored the chipper in the shed. We had a somewhat warm day this week, thought I'd get rid of a pile of sticks and branches I've been saving for spring. Started first pull! Last time I changed the blades, some of the bolts rounded off when I used my impact driver. Had to invest in a stripped bolt remover set from Lowes, problem easily solved. You'll end up changing out all the nuts and bolts that go along with the blades from time to time. Efcut Customer service sent me a link to Amazon item for correct size, good to have extras.

AFTER 20 Hours of use: I am now pleased with this unit - I have put it through its paces and am on my 3rd set of blades. Most of my original comments are still valid. Here are additional observations. 1. Unit has started each time and plowed through heavy duty work, as long as you do not jam it with larger than 3” diameter wood OR shove wet bark into it 2. The replacement blades that come from EFCUT also are packaged with replacement bolts and nuts, so this was quite welcome 3. To make the unit more easily portable and stored more compactly, I remove the outflow chute, placing it in the input chute, store it or haul it to your work site, and then re-attach it. I have replaced the nuts and bolts with a simple wing nut and bolt with steel washer, so it can come off more easily - I have upgraded this to a 4 star - I would have given it a 5 star if I had not had to wrestle with the intricacies of the learning curve. First. The instructions are simple and sometimes difficult to understand. Yet, if you are handy as I am, you will be able to get the unit assembled. The wrenches that are sent with the unit for assembly are an average grade, so if you have a good metric set or socket wrenches, that will help. Once it was fully assembled (took 2 1/2 hours) , and the oil and gas were properly fueled, I tried starting the unit, but the rope pull that is attached to the rotating pan assembly would not budge. After a bit of thinking, I remember that the company has sent me a shim that suggested inserting to better allow the unit to operate more smoothly. This was not part of the original instruction set. Once I followed the directions, it was clear that the rotating pan assembly that has the cutting blades on it was jammed up against a solid metal cage in front of the discharge chute. Once I carefully placed the shim into the pan assembly to mitigate the flawed design, it worked sort of. The unit still slightly slams into the cage on every rotation, but not hard enough to stop the engine from operating. I was able to pull the cord that is used to start the engine and it fired up. Once you are at full operating speed with throttle and choke on run, the unit worked well (I have only used it for 3 hours in one session so far). However, when you put it into idle or turn the unit off, the clattering of the pan assembly against the cage is quiite apparent and it rattles. I was pleased with the performance and mulching output, so I am ok with this. However, given the gleaming reports from other users, this has not lived up to my expectations. It took too long to assemble, I had to install a design flaw work around, and my confidence in the long run of having this work well has been compromised. Update on September 3rd, 2020 - The chipper has done a good job, after using it for around 10 hours of actual on time - The chipper is really portable, and my wife and I were able to pull it along wooded, narrow, slopped trails to sections of property where it would have been really hard work to haul out down limbs, so bravo on the size. The chipper has started up each time, and with a bit of getting used to a couple of anomalies, happy with its performance - The BIG however is that it is NOT an easy job to replace the blades. The nuts that hold the front window and the hopper are getting worn quickly, so I intend to replace them, before they become entirely stripped. Once removing the eight nuts, and pulling off the hopper, the blades can be exposed by rotating them to a position where you can get the screws off that hold the blades in (you need a hex wrench in rear end of bolt). I am on my second set of blades and will be needing to replace them again, so they really only last bout 5 hours. Other reviewers have noted the degradation in performance that happens pretty quickly. New blades quickly draw and shred the wood, but then it dulls and you need to have a helper limb to push the limbs into the hopper. RESIST the temptation of pushing any debris into the hopper with your hand). Again, I am overall happy with chipper, but continue to wrestle with having to change blades more often than I believe you should, and that the blade changing system is NOT an easy procedure.

Prior to purchasing I researched chipper/shredders ad nauseam. It's a difficult process and it leaves you probably more unsure in the end. What finally caused me to buy this one was the video they showed of how well it handled piles of sticks and debris. I was hoping they hadn't faked the video somehow. It arrived in a reasonable amount of time and was extremely well packed. It does require done minor assembly but the online videos walk you easily through the process. It took less than an hour to have it up and running. My property is about 1.5 acres surrounded by woods and brush so I had plenty to chip. This machine worked exactly as advertised, chipping everything quickly and smoothly. The engine starts easily and is powerful enough to go through 3" branches. I was more the happy with is performance. I did have one issue though. The chute that you feed branches through is bolted to the main body using two nut/bolt combinations and two bolts that are welded to the main body. One of the welded bolts came off at some point, I noticed it upon cleaning up after using it. I reached out to the company and they responded immediately with an offer to send me the bolt that I could then weld back in place. Although I thought this was an odd offer (if I had a welder and could weld I would have sprung for the cost of a bolt) I explained to them that I didn't have a welder and could weld. After this email there was a delay on response and I did have to reach out to them again BUT they shipped me a new plate for the body that had the required bolts already welded in place. I am definitely happy with the machine and the company standing behind their commitment to quality. I would recommend you buy one or two additional sets of blades. They do eventually get full and slow down the process but they are ready to swap out and get back up and running. This way you can have nice sharp blades to work with and then resharpen the dull ones at your convenience. If your looking for a decent chipper/shredder you can stop looking and buy this one. You won't be disappointed.

So after putting in new blades, this thing works like a beast...for about ten minutes, after which the blades become dull and you find yourself pushing stuff down as opposed to it feeding it in. Talked to the manufacturer last year and he sent me new blades and asked that I send him the worn-out ones, which I did, after which I never heard back. Put in the new blades, same thing, 10-15 minutes. Put the unit aside for the rest of the year, bought new blades, fired it up again last week and....you guessed it, 10-15 minutes!!! People, I am trying to chip branches that are less than 1" thick that I just cut from a mesquite tree, no dirt, no nothing. Save your money...

I only have a couple hours of time on the machine so far, so I'll focus on the assembly and first time thoughts. The chipper comes in 2 boxes; the one with the motor and cutting wheel+housing was packed in a luan 1/4" wood box, then that inside a cardboard box. There was plenty of packing foam around it, and the entire thing was basically flawless. The other box contained the hopper, chute, and basically everything else. Assembly was easy, although the pictures were a bit small and not detailed. The hardware was in well-labeled bags, 1 bag per assembly step, and the instructions say what bag to use. The wrenches needed to complete the assembly were included, although I used my own box-end wrenches, ratchet/sockets, and an impact driver to speed things up. You'll need a 10mm, 12mm, and 13mm. (There is one 8mm bolt holding on the air cleaner, which I don't think they give you a wrench for.) Maybe because of different setups, the instructions on how to assemble the air cleaner were separate, but they were included and were accurate. The unit comes with plenty of documentation on it, and the engine. EFCut also ships an extra set of cutters + machine screws (thanks!!), ear plugs, and safety glasses with a case. There are ample labels on the unit for spark on/off, choke, and throttle. Also the usual safety stickers. There is a scale sticker on the hopper edge to gauge the diameter of the pieces you're shredding, although it is on the top horizontal section, and I would like it on the bottom for more accessibility so I will just add one of my own with blue tape. Although you get a feel for how large a branch will work pretty quickly. As for use, it's exactly what I'd hoped for. It started on the first pull, and ate our (mostly pine) branches without problem. Having seen a lot of videos on units this size, I knew large diameter branches would bog it to the point of stalling so I used the "poke and retract" method with those and it worked fine. Most of what I will be chipping will be either rotted and fallen off the tree, or dry, or small, (and almost exclusively soft pine) so I don't think I'll be over-taxing it. I chipped 2 piles of collected branches about waist high and 6-8' in diameter, and they reduced to 4 of the collapsible bag's worth of mulch. This took about 90 minutes. It is VERY, VERY LOUD. Even with can type hearing protection it was too loud, so next time I'll be augmenting with the in-ear style that they ship with. So far very happy with the purchase; it's strong enough for my use, went together well, and the documentation was complete, accurate, and readable.

When I got a hold of this item, I was in need of an inexpensive machine to catch up on shrubs that had over grown on my property. I find this issue a recurring problem year after year. To be honest, I wasn't entirely sure if this would get the job done due to its small size. I went ahead and took a chance and when it arrived, the size was slightly smaller than I had anticipated. Once I removed all the parts from the box and laid them out, the assembly was surprisingly simple. I didn't need to refer to the instructions very much. Don't get me wrong, this may differ according to your mechanical ability. The tools needed are supplied, as are some of the safety equipment and extra blades. Once the machine was assembled, I added oil, fuel, and it started right up. Seeing how it was the fist time it was started, I allowed it to run for a little while to see if there where any issues. The 7 HP engine ran beautifully. On the drum, there are two windows. One is for replacing the blades. There are four bolts holding it in place and once removed, simply rotating the wheel until the blade is aligned, it is very easy to change the blade if needed. The second window is located in the rear with a slide cover allowing you to remove any debris that may need to be removed. I found this to be a great addition to the unit not only for possible jams, but to allow for cleaning before storage. The handle is one of the reasons I chose this machine. I was looking at some of the others and I did not like the way the others looked. They did not seem to look as comfortable. If I am going to have to move the machine around my yard, I want it to move easily and comfortably. It also seems to be at a good angle to allow the unit to be "dollied" around the property. It definitely is at a good angle. The next day, I took it out to the property and began to chop and slash the overgrown brush. This took most of the day and I would like to think I gave the small machine quite a workout for its first time out. I was very impressed with how it kept up with as much as I was feeding it. The manual specifies it will accommodate up to 3-inch debris. While the largest I put through it was around 2 inches, I had no issues at all. It seemed to handle this with ease. I also had an older brush pile in my yard that had been there for a few years. I figured it was time to get rid of it as well. This wood was well aged and seeing how I live in a desert environment, it was dense material. This gave me a little worry because I was not sure if the machine could handle such hard wood like Manzanita, and aged Hackberry. I fed it through and it chipped it up with no issues. At one point, I did get a little overzealous and feed some material in a little too fast. It bogged the machine a little; however, I slowed down and allowed it to catch up. It had no problems handling the dry dense material. The mulches that are produced by the machine are said to be "Nutrient rich mulches and not just chips and shreds" I would have to agree with this. The cutting blades do an excellent job on the material that is fed through. The unit comes with a collapsible bucket to catch the mulch to make it easy to transport to where ever you want it. I found this to be a nice addition and much better than a tarp on the ground or other means. For the price of the machine and for what it does I am very extremely happy with the overall performance. I have to give this machine a five star review. I personally feel that it did the job that I needed it to do and it did it very well. I think this tool will last and will be of service to me for some time.

Ordered the C30 to chip some branches from a section of a large tree that had fallen. The C30 arrived in two boxes (with a tiny third box for a part that needed to be swapped in), and assembly was fairly straightforward. Might want to have a second person on hand to help with the assembly, since some of the components that had to be put together did require a second person to help. If you got the manual pull start, it takes a (very) strong pull to get it started. But, once started, it runs fairly well. It chewed through everything I put into it, and having read some of the reviews here I made sure not to put any branches over 2" in diameter so as to save the wear and tear on the knives. I put about two hours of work on the C30 and finish half of the branches and put away the machine for the next day. Next day, I bring the C30 out and start feeding it branches, but this time it would take a little bit more effort to get the C30 to chip the branches. After a little while, the C30 is struggling to get the similar-diameter branches to chip. I call it a day, pull it into the garage, and inspect the blades to find that they were quite dull. Basically, after around four hours of light-to-medium-duty work, the blades require sharpening. Rather than use the replacement blades, I removed the ones that were in the C30, sharpen them, and put them back on. Next day, after an hour of chipping tree limbs, the C30 struggles again. I could guess that the blades are probably dull again, so this time I might put the replacement ones on. In all, after about five hours' worth of work, here are some pros and cons: pros: 1. easy to move around around 2. works great when the knives are super sharp 3. smaller bits and leaves slide right down the reduction chute 4. top chimney exit works wonders when wood chips are being expelled cons: 1. if the tree limbs aren't super straight, they will get stuck in the chute 2. medium-sized bits may get stuck in the chute, which requires reaching in and pulling out the clog 3. the knives don't seem to stay sharp for long 4. it takes a lot of strength to pull the manual start I hope the replacement knives stay sharper longer, because I'd be hesitant to continue to buy more replacement knives to add to the cost of this machine. It gets the job done, but I'm now wondering if I should have spent more on a machine that has knives that are more durable...

Really like this machine, have not been able to stop it, at all, not that I even tried, but even with the biggest branches it is supposed to be able to consume, it might SLOW down just a bit, but it ate everything I stuffed down its gullet!! When I got it assembled (easy), I went to start it the very first time, it fired right up at a quarter turn!!! I received the shim modification a few days before the machine arrived (two boxes). Others complained that the flywheel was "scraping steel" , so to speak, well the mod kit fixes all that. Apparently, they might have changed motor vendors, so the shaft sticks in the housing just a tiny bit too much, but the thicker motor to housing shim fixes that, it also includes a thicker "grille", as they call it, the piece that is at the exit to finish off any runnaway twigs trying to escape, they can't!! They included a letter, stating that because (you, me, the customer) has to install the mod. during assembly, (easy), if you e-mail them some pics showing that you installed the mod, they will "refund" you $20. I later received an e-mail, that something happened with Amazon, so they could not do the refund thing, BUT, when I made another purchase on Amazon, I should enter a code, and get $20 off. But be aware, that the e-mail I received from them, did NOT appear to be from them (NO ref. to EF CUT at all), so at first I thought it was just another SPAM mail, so it's good thing I actually LOOKED at that particular e-mail !!! Be aware!! However, next time I went to buy something at Amazon, funny, THAT particular e-mail was all scrambled, therefore, that $20 somehow escaped me!! Oh well, I am really happy with the machine. The engine seems to have ball bearings, transistor ignition, and OHV! RUNS really smooth, but takes ETHANOL FREE gas (about $4.80 gal!!) Plus, add your special oil (cheap at checker). But it doesn't use it very fast. Oh yeah, the chips, are really fine, comparatively speaking, and we like that, and they fly right into the collapsible collector bag/bucket they give you, that helps a good deal too. 3 year warranty BTW, but I don't know just how I could pack it up and send back to China, but it is built really solid, I think, so it should last a while. All in all, I think it was a GOOD choice for the money!!
