This is an excellent heater for a large space. It is taller than some other heaters I have seen and that seems to make it more comfortable. It may be a little cooler than other heaters when seated in shorter patio chairs, but it is much more comfortable at normal height chairs. The stainless is the same that would be found on grills and should hold up well outdoors even in the extreme conditions that this heater will experience. Assembly was great and East Oak has done a lot of work on the minor touches that really shows though. Every edge was beveled enough that I would have felt comfortable having a small child assemble some of this. Having assembled a lot of items, many times metal edges are not properly beveled and can be sharp enough to cut skin. The whole assembly took maybe 20 minutes and the instructions were excellent. This heater would fit in at high end restaurants and has anchors to bolt this to a deck or another mount. I have wanted one of these forever, and I'm so glad that I finally got one! I put this together my self in about 20 -25 minutes. It was easy to get together, and the stainless finish is really good looking. I put in a tank and it started up right away without any issues. The heat that this throws is fantastic, the "umbrella" top forces the heat to spread out and go down, rather than just up in the air. We spend a lot of time outside on the decks and at our pool and this is going to be an addition that I won't regret. ... show more

I ordered this unit to replace a couple of dead, over-priced soldiers we got when COVID-era outdoor gatherings were the social norm. This unit is such an upgrade at a much better price ($150 at time of review). Assembly was time intensive with a lot of steps, but the instructions were clear and parts well-labeled. Replacing the propane tank is a breeze by lifting up the base. This is much better than the latched door design. The central pole is also well secured and I anticipate this unit won’t suffer the sideways pole tilt our other model quickly suffered. The heat is nice and toasty. It lit quickly and easily. The base also makes a nice little shelf to set your drink down. We’ve only been able to use this once due to the weather, but I look forward to cool spring - fall evenings hanging on the patio sipping wine with this puppy fired up. ... show more

This heater works with your own propane tank to make a flame up high that is deflected down with the giant metal saucer. It works really well to heat a small area, even outdoors with a cold breeze. I used it at a little neighborhood gathering, and after a while folks kind of migrated over to stand closer to the heater. It is very tall and shiny and would be at home at your backyard BBQ or at a wedding reception. Building it can be done by one person and it helps if they are tall! But probably easier with two people. The instructions are clear and the hardware is quality. The build quality is good and secure and it seems as safe as one of these could be, especially as it is tall enough that the flame is up and out of the way. This would be a great wedding gift or housewarming gift for someone who likes to spend time outside and be comfortable when the weather is chilly. This is a well-built quality outdoor heater. Assembly was pretty straightforward and should take the average person 20-45 minutes at most. Once it's put together, this is very solid and looks very nice on the back deck. The stainless steel look really pops. At almost 7 feet tall this is no small heater. I've been picking up these heaters for 2 year now. I like the East Oak and haven't had any complaints. One time some pieces were missing and they sent me new ones. I am not an expert on patio heaters. My previous experience was just seeing them at restaurants. EAST Oak, has several patio heaters at different quality levels and prices. Make sure you look through them before selecting this one. They have cheaper ones. They have different colors. You might find you want one that is cheaper that is just as effective as this one. This company also sells accessories for their heaters and fire pits. Check them out. I'd only really select this one if you are very excited about the design. This is the "nicer" design to patio heaters that looks especially cool. Get it, cool Tips: wear heavier gloves to put this together. Watch out for sharp edges. Take care to remove the plastic at the right step. Pros =great job heating =price down from previous years of $200 =looks amazing.
