Update: I was contacted immediately by the team at East Oak. They have quickly diagnosed the issue and sent the parts needed to fix the Patio Heater. Awesome communication and resolution. This thing is awesome in the cold North Georgia evenings. Thanks Colin! After careful review and comparisons between several patio heaters including pellet heaters, the flaming pyramid towers, and the traditional Propane Patio Heater, I landed on the more traditional heater. After review of multiple brand reviews including both online and local, I decided on the East Oak Patio Heater, 50k BTU, UR50GN2. Great packaging, easy assemble and clear instructions comments convinced me to buy this brand. Easy to assemble, using a Phillips screwdriver, a 10mm wrench, and a 14mm wrench took about 45 minutes, the only hiccup was one of the four screws that hold the head to the pole stripped and the screw would not tighten up. The screw wasn’t over tightened, or cross threaded, it just never tightened up using reasonable effort. This resulted in the head slightly tilting as if it has a curious look. This is something I plan on resolving later. Great instructions, the startup is very carefully explained, Knob on High, press Igniter Button, Hold for 10 Seconds, and let the unit warmup at the Low Setting for 5+ minutes. And with this, we had excellent warmth on our screened in porch, and were able to enjoy several of the cool evenings while watching TV in this cool Georgia weather. The last three evenings have been wonderful. Heat within a 10 foot radius is okay at full power. Beyond that is barely noticeable. Not a problem to heat the area around our two chairs. ... show more

This is not a suggestion to people, but maybe the manufacturer could redesign this more actual body friendly. I love the design and it works quiet and gives off tons of heat...at the top...and with a heat shield(in the pic) it is aimed better in the direction you want it in. However, when you're outside in the cold, just having your head and torso warm isn't too comfortable if your legs and feet are freezing. So, after some thought, I know I compromised the warranty but I cut the top off by more than half and hung wind blockers on my deck. And now perfection. Head, torso, legs and feet get plenty of heat and it's completely comfortable to sit out here on a 40 degree day or 29 degree windy night. The pole was much too high. The propane tank remains cold, and there is still enough room to lift the bottom cover to replace the propane when it's empty. Again, I'm not suggesting this to anyone due to safety and not everyone is as handy or has tools to do this, but in my opinion, the manufacturer should try this design and see the results. It makes all the difference in the world and didn't compromise safety or the beauty of the design. 5 stars after the alteration. ... show more

I seldom write reviews, but this heater was so far above my expectations that I just had to spread the word. It came well packaged, all the pieces were in great shape, and assembly was a breeze. The heat it puts off is impressive, and unlike the cheap heaters you find at a lot of restaurants and such, this heater is sturdy and BIG. The reflective canopy is far wider than I expected, and you can really feel the warmth even several feet from the unit. Would definitely recommend! ... show more

The heater was fairly easy to assemble. Took us less than an hour and the instructions were easy to understand. It’s easy to turn on and the heating area was a diameter of 9-10 feet. Very warm! The only problem was the bolts fell off the top but it could have been that we didn’t tighten enough. Also we got a lot of wind. I emailed customer service to order more bolts. They responded immediately. They not only sent the bolts but also the aluminum disc for the top. No charge. They also sent emails to update us on the progress. My father bought this for my husband and I for Christmas. It is soo cold that I asked for it early. So 2 months after the purchase, I got the heater. I was assembling it but the pole seemed unstable once i put the heavy heating element on top. It was tipping to one side and you could move it easily. I reached out to the customer service email that comes on the nice booklet that came with the heater. I explained my situation, that this was a gift and the purchase information didn't have my information on it. All they asked for was the amazon receipt. I got that from my dad and they instantly sent out a replacement part for the base of the pole. They followed up to make sure I received the part. Then they followed up to make sure the part fixed my problem!! It was amazing customer service! And they were timely too! Soo friendly!! This heater works great! We use it for outdoor company on our porch. My husband is a smoker and likes to hang out outside and this keeps him warm. I highly recommend this heater. The customer service is a high bonus 100%.
